Bigcoconut: Hello, guys I don't want to bore you guys with long epistle. Yes, as the title suggests.
I travelled to Canada through the study route this January but I can tell you for a fact that I'm already bored with this place.
I'm redoing a 2 year program that I have already concluded in Naija but just because I want japa, I redid it. But that's not the issue.
The issue is that I'm working in a company but the department I was posted to was a physical demanding one..
To the extent that if I work for a day, I feel pain all over my body for a week. And this is seriously affecting my education because anytime i go to work, i wouldn't have the energy to do anything again as i would be so weak. but i have to work because i have bills to pay.
Nobody send you for here except you want sleep for cold outside.
Even half of my salary goes in the form of settling bills.
The work makes me depressed. This is not what I bargained for. .
For me to raise money for my tuition fees and travel expenses, at least I wasn't doing bad in Nigeria before i left. In addition, I hardly have time for myself.
My situation is even better, most of people who we came same time haven't found jobs yet.
My thinking is if I should ask for refund of my remaining tuition fee and relocate back Naija, or go back Naija and take some courses online, as there seems to be an option for that.
These are the kind of crossroads you have to think deeply and tell yourself the truth, most strangers would only advice you based on their own perspectives, heck some would even come here to gloat.
When you say you weren't doing badly in Nigeria, did you have a job or business? Or you were depending on family? If the later is the case, it wouldn't be the same if you pack up and relocate back to Nigeria, moreso if they raised the money with which you travelled in the first place.
My advice would be not to go back, if you were okay in Nigeria you shouldn't have left, but since you have travelled, you shouldn't go back, things won't be the same, Canada is a land with a lot of opportunities, but coming on a student visa and hoping to hustle and pay fees like you did is not very advisable, it's very hard like you've seen, but still people do it. Engage with your student community, your church, etc., that could help in finding a less stressful job.
Also when you say half your income goes into paying bills, hope you're not seeking comfort? In your current condition, you should living as minimalistic as possible, share apartments, buy the cheapest groceries, etc.
If you absolutely can't complete your fees, and you have assured opportunities waiting for you back home, then you can return. In the end, all we're looking for in life is opportunities for better life, if you're absolutely sure you'll get that in Nigeria, them you can return.
EriMma1: Please, people are criticizing this prankster for doing this. Is he to be blamed for the girls looseness?
How can you be doing runs at your place of work and now everyone is saying the guy did wrong. Me I don't see any wrong here. If the girl was decent and well trained, she won't fall for this. So cheap. All her is on the money. Kai! Girls!!! who do us like this?
Let them keep getting disgraced until they change and begin to live a decent life.
He not only did wrong, but also committed a crime for which he can be charged, but he lives on the blighted side of the world so he'll sure get away with it, and will even get encouragement to do more.
Kobojunkie: Since when did a wife or husband become a mental health counselor particular for addiction-related issues?
You claim you are married but have you in fact had to help either your wife or even your son or daughter overcome addiction or are you just mouthing off here when you, in fact, have no real experience dealing with a loved one struggling with addiction problems?
If your significant other cannot counsel and encourage you in bad situations, then who exactly are they to you?
LocalStandard1: Today, this evening is the first time I am holding the 200 Naira note as my own. I saw it with people but never owned it to give it a good scrutiny.
Holding this one now and giving it an up close look I have to say, I approve of the new 200 Naira. Even though it's only a change of ink, this color change fits it perfectly well and I love it.
It's the best designed Nigerian currency for me, and pictures do not do enough Justice to it.
Which one is yours?
They simply copied some colour features of the previous 200 over to new 500 and vice versa, then added blue colour to 1000, is that too hard to notice?
The designs are exactly same as the old currency, and the printing plates remained the same, I guess that was done to minimize the cost of the change, which would have been higher if they had to redesign or make new plates.
Anyway, being "beautiful" is not a necessary quality of currency notes, they just need to be unique and difficult to counterfeit. I doubt there was any improvement in that regard by this currency change, as the counterfeiters just have to change colours too, I guess this particular exercise is targeted at currency hoarders and maybe vote buying, not really a redesign or upgrade in security.
I actually have a feeling there'll still be confusion in the future when the new money starts getting stained and worn out, it may become different to distinguish between the old and new currencies, if some mischievous people try to bring old notes into circulation.
Lastly, the designs of Naira notes have always been beautiful, whether old or new, na value dem no get!
Innocent people are going to lose their lives and livelihoods on account of these freed criminals, the people responsible will keep their jobs and even receive pat's on the back for a part well played.
Perfectbeing: In that 8 solid years, the person that took the loan won't be paying house rent. And if the house have different flats he will be collecting rents from his tenant.
You are even talking of ordinary 8 years. In America you like comparing Nigeria to, they pay their mortgage for even as long as 30 years.
Na 5m you wan carry buy house with "flats" to be renting? The analysis I made was for a loan of 5m, what can 5m get you in today's economy? Maybe one small car, that's what you'll be paying for for 8years, with 50% of your monthly income, interests not even covered.
If someone who earns 100k takes out a credit of 5m to buy a car or whatever, and let's say they service that debt with half of their monthly pay, that's 50k, it'll take them more than 8 solid years to pay off the debt, that's without taking interests into account.
These people come up with with garnished trash talk because they know the people they're talking to won't fact check them, with which job security would any lender give you a loan that would take 10 years to repay, so that you may buy a tokumbo car? In a country where people can't even pay back micro loans they take from multiple loan sharks.
Jomonix: Joe Igbokwe strategy is only to deceive his Yoruba hosts and also pave his way. It is working for him.
Are you sure it's really "working"? They may throw him a few bones from time to time for his consistent service as an attack dog, but no reasonable person would ever truly trust a man who's only stock in trade is to attack his own people.
Shalommy: Every products in Nigeria must have an Aba made. Chaii.. Ndi biafra try for that.
Apparently you don't know it's local production that grows a nation, Chinese and Taiwanese knock offs full market but it's your own country's production that is "Aba-made"....wake up o.
I found that there are still many Gionee s10 lite on sale on Jumia, for a phone released in 2017, it's surprising that there is still that much in the market.
I placed an order for the phone but please, is there something I should know? Does the model have any serious issues or defects? Can I readily buy parts and accessories (tempered glass and case)?
MrOjay1: My younger cousin is what you will regard as a typical big boy.He drives a good car and is living large.
We haven't been in contact for a long while so I decided to get his number and call him to catch up on old times. I really wanted him to put me through his line of work so I could solve my personal issues. He invited me over to his place and I stayed there for 3 days.
Omo after the first day there,he gave me his clothes to help him wash and instructed me to clean his flat.Hmmm I did it o
He came back with his woman and didn't even mutter as much as a thank you.
He even told her I was one of those his family members 'wey no get levels'.He said it in a very spiteful and disregarding manner. This na person I senior o and he do visit us then when he was little.
I was a little pissed at that descrption and he noticed it.there are other humiliating stuff that happened that day but I don't really have strength for typing. He was just using me to shine in front of the girl.
Before I left,he told me I will need to humble myself before him unless nothing for me.
I'm thinking of going back there to apologise to him for being pissed at him.
How do you guys see it?
I really need his percuniary support to solve my personal issues.
This kind of person has nothing to offer you. What does he do for a living and what kind of way do you want him to show you? Are you receiving any financial support from him currently? If truly he describes and treats you the way you have described, maybe you are better off going off on and start making your own way, even if the path is difficult one. Also watch your ego to make sure you're not exaggerating things yourself.
The white colonialist and slave masters have perfectly preconditioned black people to desire poverty and see poverty as a virtue
Investigate source of income as a right thinking person to ascertain legitimacy of wealth don't castigate wealth to promote poverty
A graphics artist earning $10 per gigs and having 2 gigs per day, 14 gigs per week earns $140 per week that's $560 a month.. am sure such kid can afford to give his parents ₦300,000
A female blogger with make up artist page on tic toc, Instagram and YouTube can't Monitise her content for profit, the fact she uses an iPhone means she is prone to Ritualists and dates a yahoo boy
Everyone should desire 9-5 civil servant job and earn 60,000 to 40,000 since that's what is right
PS: Dear Nigerian Parents, Buhari Kwaraption Government, EFCC , SARS , Nigeria Police, Village People ,
I: Using an iPhone is not a crime Ii: having money as a young man is not a sin or crime iii: people earn money online legitimately
.
Individuals who are as resourceful as you described above would not spend two full month's earnings to buy iPhone.
No one says you can't have money or be rich as a young person, but you should be able to explain the source of such wealth to the people you're accountable to, your parents or the authorities as the case may be.
The poster is only asking adults to be wary of a minor's source of sudden wealth before indulging.
Until Nigerians get to the level where they are willing and able to find gainful employment and not sing for whomever gives the crumbs, I doubt if we'd make any progress, look at what young people are shamelessly promoting, even for only Lokoja, is this not a sparkling failure, after 8 years.
The painful thing is not the price adjustment, but the interruptions, even if all customers were metered and only paid for what they use, the frequent interruptions still means that they don't get value for their money.
ibechris: U cant buy property in your baby mama's name now...but I have purchased property on two occasions with my wife's name without any need to regret it. But u dare not with your baby mama or girl friend I have kept all my life savings in my wife's personal accounts which many of u dare not do with your baby mama's out there.
On the day of my wedding I got a jeep from my brother but u can't get it from impregnating a baby mama.
Guy,I still maintain my stand, that marriage is good. I and my wife have made 6.6million naira in three months just for working together as partners in our side hustle. But u can never achieve that with your baby mama's.
You're so combative without actually getting any point across, he only asked one question, give one tangible advantage of being married.
In all your rant you were not able to mention one advantage of being married over being unmarried, there are some positives indeed, but you weren't even able to mention any?
How does buying a property in another's name or keeping your life savings in another adult's account amount to an advantage? Did you make the 6.6million because of your wife's involvement/contribution?
The way you kept shouting impregnating and baby mama, how did you conclude that not being married = impregnating baby mama?
The idea of an argument is to make a point for or against, not to nag your way to "victory", I'm afraid you totally didn't make a single point.
Straight to the point. I graduated last year and I am yet to get my statement of result from my school till this day(the fault is from my school). I recently got a job which I am to resume this new month. So I perused through the letter and found out that I am to show a proof of my degree. Already, my Employer knows that I am a recent graduate but I didn't explain the part of Statement of result.
Please how do I go about this?
If possible, obtain a signed copy of your final year grades, or a letter from your head of department confirming that you have indeed passed all your courses but yet to be issued a statement or certificate.
Rahl007: Hey guys, quick one please. My AOR is December 8th 2020 and from my last Gcms notes medicals is passed - expired. Now because my COR is Ireland, I don’t know if it’ll be extended or not. I’m waiting for the gcms notes I ordered a few weeks ago. As at December 2021, info sharing was complete and criminality passed but eligibility and security not started even after a year lol. So my question is should I go for an upfront Remed (costs 365 euros here or should I just keep waiting for an update.
Apologies for the long text and thanks
The medicals may be extended or may not be, as to whether you should do the re-med upfront, it's dependent on what you feel like doing, if for example you're still busy in Ireland and not looking to move to Canada immediately, then you might just relax and let them do their thing, and if they request you to do the medical, then you do it...I imagine for you living in Ireland, there are no queues or long waiting times to get an appointment, so you can get the medical done soon after it's requested. It's a thing of choice.
People like Ugezu don't understand how much the world has changed, raising a child in today's world is a project, it's no longer as simple as teaching them to farm as in the days he is referring to, it's a responsibility one has to be sure it's theirs before undertaking.....not to mention that the same woman can wake up one day and take away that child from you and you wouldn't be able to do jack, and would never see him/her again, like we've seen time and again.
I like my egg properly cooked I heard only razz people like the properly done ones like me
I saw my VM Montessori friend eat this Yama Yama one
People too like follow follow, me I like my egg and meat well cooked, if anyone wants to be tusshh and chop them raw, it's on them...until they carry one virus or bacteria.
sageb: I hope he gets a better job In saner climes, this man would have been gainfully enployed. You will never see that Udom hypeman called Illaumoh aka hunchogee in this kind of thread. If it is to hype politicians looting Akwa Ibom treasury, you will see him.
PhD holders still struggle even in first world countries, it's mostly about one's personality and luck, the world is almost same all over.
God1000: I fully understand the despair and all the challenges at home which is largely responsible for this ugly situation.
But why going through so much just to cross to another country, they will gather a lot of money, movement from one African country to another before embarking on the dangerous journey of uncertainty.
They will finally end up sleeping on the streets of European countries after getting there, some of them hawk and sweep to make ends meet, but back at home they won't do those things because of pride.
Why going to another country to become a third class citizen?
There's this wrong notion that as a graduate you must work inside one fine office with suit and tie, live a lavish lifestyle and try to impress men and women. Nollywood movies and Nigerian politicians encourage this a lot.
We worship people that return from abroad, even if they do dirty jobs like drugs, all our people want to see when you return is beautiful car and house and they will worship you automatically.
Are Nigerians outside even enjoying? Because some bad ones have soiled our reputation badly, we don't have good image anywhere in the world, even within Africa, nobody trusts a Nigerian anymore, so why going through so much just to become an object of ridicule out there? They end up doing those menial jobs they won't do at home.
We look down on people that make legitimate ends meet in Nigeria through menial jobs but worship and glorify Yahoo boys and corrupt politicians! Something is indeed wrong with us.
No society can make headways with this kind of mindset and mentality our people have.
You are jumbling so many unrelated things into one.
While the desperation to leave the country by some persons can be nauseating, claiming not to know the reason for the desperation would be lying to one's self.
Would you rather sweep the road for $15 an hour, or would you do same for $15 a month and yet one pot bellied politician will seize the money for months without paying you? Simple analogy...who says it's about pride?
No need getting emotional about these things, the sources of our problems run deep and of course most of us contribute to these problems in a way...we can try to contribute to solving them without feigning ignorance or playing the blame game.
Nfora: And tomorrow, they would be ranting marginalisation in the security architecture and want the IGP to come from the SE,abi?
Can they finish employing even this small number of people that applied?...or they need millions to apply before there can be simple equity or merit based selection? Rest abeg!
bigpicture001: ...My friend whose dad passed on two months ago and who was so sure he will henceforth become a big boy got the shock of his life when his dad's will was read to them by his father's lawyer...
In the will his dad gave him Nothing which was unusual especially being the eldest son and coming from the Igbo tribe.. his father owns two filling station, a big and very busy half-warehouse store where he sells dangote cement wholesale, three commercial houses , a sign supermarket,3 pieces of land also one SUV and two small cars.
We suspect, it may be connected to his visibly wayward lifestyle, he has twice been sent packing from two different private University in the south east over tuancy and suspected cultism....more shocking is the late father handing over the day to day running of the firm to his oldest daughter "not his wife"
The said girl is just 24 years old but graduated as second best in the dept of economic then..his father even helped her secure a lecturing job 5months before his demise..he stated that his wife will only be an important signitory for transaction worth a million and above.
He added a clause that his son can join the management of the firms and estate only when he graduates from any University with at least a pass and record less than 7police cases before he turns 28..
Even at that he can eventually take over the firm after joining management for minimum 4years...
Abeg oo. is this. Dead man not wicked... Allowing a girl lead the house when her mum is still alive.. although she is older than the guy.. sh is the first child
Wicked on top his own hard earned assets? handing anything over to that your truant friend would surely be the end of that thing. Man saw things clearly.
BuyAndSellStuff: Russian AK-47s all through. The go-to assault rifle everywhere in the world, yet US media wants us to believe that their own weapons that nobody else is using are the best.
Lol
It's actually good for them, it's not a reputable thing to have your weapon littered all over every crisis zone around the world.
