PhonesRe: Is Infinix Not Better Than Xiaomi ? by Falconx47:
LegalRambles:
Over the years Infinix has produced affordable quality phones. Now this begs the question is infinix not doing the greater good? Xiaomi phones have a lot of problems, no spare parts and are very expensive. But infinix phones are cheap , have no issues and the spare parts are everywhere. The discussion is open...
Baba enjoy your Infinix, but don't go about spreading ruse. I never used an Infinix but I remember combing the internet for a replacement screen once for a friend, I found nothing but only cheap ones that never worked...plus a very daunting experience to change it, on the other hand, I changed my Xiaomi note 4x screen 3 times while I used it, by myself o, takes 15minutes, phone is so serviceable, you can readily buy all the parts. I hope the newer models are still made that way.

Don't even start about durability. The better chipset, etc. Overall Xiaomi provides a better experience in my opinion, and of course you have to pay a little more for that...that's why their products have gained acceptance in Europe and US, do they sell Infinix in these places?

Oh and my phone never heated up, lagged or hanged for 3 years, and I never repaired anything but the screen because once it falls and cracks, I change it.

Jobs/VacanciesRe: What Its Mean To Acquire Higher Degree Time Wasting Or What? by Falconx47: 1:51pm On Apr 29, 2021
Teejeybaba:
My mind full of depression, anytime i remembered what students passed through before you can get any certificate in my dear country Nigeria. After all this struggle, someone will still find it difficult to get a job. Some will still go ahead for their masters or Phd at the end you still find yourself without job. My thoughts now was, should the less privileged person just go for ND and also acquire skill work?.
I have come to realize that education is just a means to an end. It's like a vehicle to take you from point A to B, that is to say, what you become in life is more dependent on your natural abilities, what you were able to learn (not the certificate o), what relationships you make, and how you apply all of the above.

There's overemphasis on formal education in Nigeria, people go to school without considering what they're good at, and how they intend to apply the knowledge afterwards.

This is what leads to the non-application, and the attendant feeling of unfulfillment even for people who are lucky enough to be employed, that is not to downplay the terrible labour market, but I still believe that if many people go to school with the right purpose and mindset, unemployment will be a lot lower.

As to whether to go to a polytechnic, or even learn a trade, it still boils down to ones talents, and inclination. I have this mate in secondary school that went to a polytechnic to study building technology, also went outside the school system to learn it practically, and started building houses for people right off the bat. He's doing better than most of us today (but depends on what gives one satisfaction).

My advice to younger ones is to imagine the end from the beginning, what will I do with this degree, is it the best fit for me? Ask questions from older and more experienced people where you have to...and don't take any course they give you, just because you have to go to school.

So many courses being offered in Nigerian universities, ought to have been extinct 10years ago.
CultureRe: The Gradual Phasing Out Of The Use Of Palm Wine For Traditional Wedding Rites by Falconx47: 1:34pm On Apr 29, 2021
The choice of what wine to use at your wedding is yours to make, same as the wedding itself...it's not mandatory.

Is sugary artificial drinks and wine immune from adulteration, poison, jazz or village people...or whatever makes the people avoid the palm wine tradition?

Ignorance is the bane of many.

She wants £18m for “past pain and suffering”, £18m for “future pain and suffering” and £18m in punitive damages.

Funny statement grin cheesy

I thought she would be more interested in CR7 actually paying aka going to jail if he is guilty.
Alas, someone mentioned it. No prayers to the court to send the supposed rapist to jail, it's millions she wants, since when did money become justice?
CareerRe: Which Is Better, Pharmacy Or Civil Engineering? by Falconx47: 9:55pm On Apr 28, 2021
syrecookie:
Which of these course guarantees a better life after graduation?

Ps: I have passion for medicine and surgery but I don't want to pursue that passion cause of the length and complications of studying it in Nigeria. So I am looking for a better alternative in either pharmacy or civil engineering, please I really need your sincere opinions(preferably from experts in either fields).
Need something lucrative in Nigeria and abroad(the money is needed oo, studying in Nigeria is hard enough).
Like you have realized, studying a 5-year course is a tedious task, a very long time to waste doing something you will not follow through to the end.

How did you move from the medical field to civil engineering?

Think about what you see yourself doing in the future. Another factor to always look out for are courses you can stand alone and be useful even if jobs don't come...good enough, both civil and pharmacy have that potential.

Both courses also have good prospects globally, it boils down to which one you'll enjoy, and follow through to mastery.
CareerRe: Help Me Define My Career Path by Falconx47:
pathfinder123:
Urgent Advice needed. I have upper class in electrical electronics (ND level) 3.02cpa.

The course was not accredited in time but It has been accredited last year and I have obtained the certificate.

While waiting at home, I opt for geophysics at a university.

Should I continue with the geophysics, note, I am at 200 level. OR get a direct entry form and go into electrical electronics engineering proper?.

I can do well with numbers and Physics.
Secondly, which of these training school is popular in the oil and industry:
1 Gabson Professional School of Safety and Engineering Ltd,
2 Mudiame Welding Institute Limited,
3 Skytraine International Limited,
4 BOMI Steel and Pipeline Engineering Company Limited.

Which of them can offer me an American society for welder certificate (AWS).

Thirdly which skills are the most in-demand in the oil sector currently?

I need your honest advice please because I am in a fix.
Firstly, it's my view that it'll be a mistake chasing after oil and gas solely, while you can have good career and money there, it's more like burrowing oneself into a corner, do a conventional engineering course and if in the end oil and gas is appealing to you, your chances of getting in is still good. So keep an open mind.

The day I walked into the subsea engineering department of one of the oil majors, all the engineers there are civil engineers, with electrical engineers for control part, etc. Core engineering disciplines have better chances everywhere.

Between geophysics and electrical, I think it's best if you continue with electrical engineering, if you have passion for it, and if you can get the direct entry, even though you have gone 2 years in geophysics, I think it's a matter of how well, rather than how fast. It's always the best to focus on one area and attain mastery.

I don't know much about the institutes you listed, but a research or asking the right persons will tell you if they can offer the certification you're looking for, AWS or CSWIP is a good one.

Lastly still do your own research too, as your own background and situation is peculiar to you.

CareerRe: How Women Are Locked Out Of Nigeria’s Construction Industry by Falconx47: 9:36pm On Apr 26, 2021
Magae:
The construction industry is widely considered to be one of the world’s largest industrial employers of labour, and is linked to all other sectors of countries’ economies. It presents a path to empower women economically but it tends to be dominated by men.

In spite of past initiatives in many parts of the world to increase their participation in the construction industry at all levels, women remain a minority.

This is not only an issue of equitable gender representation but one of meeting the industry’s needs.

Researchers have identified skills shortages as a problem in construction. Attracting more women to careers in the industry could help bridge these gaps.

In Nigeria, women make up only 16.3% of the construction profession. Research on this is scarce but one 2006 study of the informal housing delivery sector found that women’s participation was extremely low.

This was presumed to be due to certain cultural ethics and values in Nigeria.
In our study, we investigated the current level of women’s participation, challenges faced by professional women and the factors that influence them in the course of developing careers in construction.

We found that gender discrimination and dominance of male culture were among the top constraints. The top strategy suggested for changing this was to make young women aware of opportunities that exist for them in the industry.
I don't think you understand what discrimination means...No data, no source, no study...just open mouth waaa, and someone moved this clickbait to the front page. Who exactly is "We"?

ProgrammingRe: Programming Is just Like Playing Football by Falconx47: 2:23pm On Apr 23, 2021
I think it's a matter of knowing exactly what one intends to do with the specific Tech skills, before they set out to acquire it, don't just dive in and start learning a particular language, platform, framework, etc, just because everyone is screaming Tech...not without having planned out what you intend to do with it at the end.

The best thing in my opinion, is to target specific high paying industry, draft a path that will let one acquire the skills they need and land a good job there and proceed.

Another path could be the entrepreneurial route, to team up with like minds and create your own thing.

There is also a need to have domain knowledge, most tech skills are applied in one industry or the other, have knowledge of a particular industry in addition to tech skills, makes one well rounded.

Mentorship comes handy too, to avoid wandering in the dark.

Even though there was a course like that in my 300l that I didn't attend the class at all, not even once, and I had 92A...but attending classes can never be overemphasized.
The idea is for you to understand the basic concepts of what you're studying, in real life no one will care if you got the A, if you don't know how to apply the knowledge to solve problems, the A is nothing, at worst it's deceitful.

I’m in so much tears right now!!!! Look at me just trying to do my business, and I just got scammed! Oh God tried to stop me but I wasn’t conscious enough!

It started with my card being declined and I reached out to Zenith bank on Twitter. I was told you add up a number on WhatsApp to chat with their customer care. I did and everything looked professional, honestly I had no idea that I was about to be scammed!

The scammer asked for my card details which I told him no, but he assured me that he is not a scammer. I sent it, but the card still didn’t work so I transferred my money to my dad’s account hoping to use his card, but the customer care kept disturbing me that they want to help me resolve it. I had to beg my dad to transfer back but he kept forgetting to transfer back and I was pissed!!!! I kept calling for hours till he finally did tonight and the customer care wiped off my account after I sent the OTP codes to him foolishly, thinking I was chatting with their staff!

After my account got wiped off, it was then I realized the mention on my Twitter was from a dorm account on Twitter!

I am in so much pains guys!

Scammers why did you do this to us?

Tell me, if something bad befalls your family will you be happyhuh

I take all the blame...I have always been a security conscious person, but today .....

Please learn from my mistake.

I’m in so much tears right now.
Chai...honestly?

So sorry, but many of us raised alarm immediately the scammer posted that comment, and reported the handle, which I did too...you didn't follow the comments?

Have you contacted zenith bank?

Nobody wants to answer my question abt the nysc experience. Lemmi repeat again, pls pple with nysc work experience with government school that of cause dint pay them during nysc service should pls help. Did you state it on reference letter given to you by the government institute that u where been paid by nysc for working at the government secondary school or u omitted that part..

Nysc experience gurus make una help ooooooooooooooooo I beg I've been asking this question for long now abeg how una do am make I nor go gog. Who de ask nor de miss road

How did u state ur in ur reference letter that u where bn paid nysc money instead of the school u taught. Is it acceptable by ircc standard
An official reference letter from the school, stating that you worked for the school for that period and that your pay was 19800naira monthly (or whatever that sums up to annually) is all you need. Letter should meet IRCC requirement, contain all the information they require and not mention nysc.
PoliticsRe: Many Police, Army Checkpoints In The South-East? Why Is This So? by Falconx47: 2:45pm On Dec 29, 2020
post=97508507:
you are exaggerating, from Awka to Onitsha is just one check point at Ukpor junction, Onitsha to our boundary with Imo is three Checkpoints on normal day, it's because of Yuletide they increase the numbers of police and road safety officials
I don't know about now...it's been a while I was home, but it was more than that, there's one somewhere around Kwata flyover, another usually at Enugu agidi, another at Awkuzu, before the Ukpor you talk about, they casually pack their truck anywhere and voila...office don open. It's worrisome, no need to downplay it.
