If he kept 1 billion and have away 8 then not only would his family never have to work again (Even 100 generations later) but also he could make Nigeria 100% literate, end food scarcity and provide jobs for all of Nigeria's unemployed, perhaps by heavy investments in the Agriculture sector thus not only making Nigeria food independent and the breadbasket of Africa but also eliminating boko haram and such organizations that arise from factors that include joblessness and despair.

I doubt that he will do any of those or even donate 1 billion.

I've been to NYC and yes it is dirty and there are piles of garbage in places, lots of homeless people and the city smells really bad. That being said it is a lot better and more developed than Lagos, our financial capital.

You are funny. I now confirmed you must be a real comedian when you started comparing Dubia to New York- The big apple.

But back to the point, except you are going as tourist or for sight seeing can you be saying Dubai is better.

Anyone going for any other purpose will most likely find China better, be it business or education.

Of course Dubia has some obvious advantage over China as listed by the poster up there like the language but overall, China should be better.

Dubai is more developed than New York because New York isn't only Manhattan. That being said New York is much more alive with more to do, friendlier people, more culture and more spirit than Dubai. Dubai is a plastic city but speaking on pure development (quality of infrastructure and standard of living) Dubai is ahead of the big apple.

China is better for education no doubt but for business it depends. Assuming your business isn't just exporting stuff back home, China's economy is much larger and there is greater scope for employment and stuff but Dubai has no taxes and it's easier to start a business in Dubai than in China. Dubai also has less corruption (Although China isn't very corrupt). Where you will succeed more depends on the kind of business you're interested in. For manufacturing and exports, China is good. For services like banking, tourism, hospitality etc Dubai is good.

China is absolutely an industrial giant and as a country it excels in a lot more areas that does the UAE. However, in sheer development that is infrastructure, quality of life, integration of technology etc Dubai is far ahead of China's major cities. Dubai has much better infrastructure with some of the world's best roads, better buildings, better tech integration and a higher standard of living.

China's economy is much more powerful but if you're talking about where you would enjoy the highest standard of living ? That's in Dubai.

What do you wish to achieve ? If it's making money you can go to Dubai (to earn more quickly) or to Malaysia or China. If you want to move permanently and enjoy a higher quality of life then I'd say USA or Canada. Italy's economy isn't really booming and they speak Italian so it'll be more difficult to make a living there. USA you'll make the most money if you work hard and you can settle there while Canada is safer. You can also become a citizen in Malaysia but it's harder and they're racist against non Muslims.

I don't agree with some of the things you stated.
1) China is more developed than Dubai ( Shouldn't be argued)
2)If your work is legal, you'll earn more money in China. Take 600k to Dubai! The kind of suffering you'll encounter, you'll end up back in Nigeria.
3)China is safer and cleaner( We're talking about the big cities international students or foreigners would likely live in).

I wouldn't even advice anyone to move to Dubai except it's a short visit.

1) How is China more developed ? Dubai had better roads, better infrastructure, better services and more modern tech with tech booths and apps providing every service you can desire. China is more powerful and more innovative but in terms of actual development of the cities, Dubai is far ahead of Beijing. If you believe I am wrong please provide some proof of why you think so.

2) it's difficult for foreigners to open a business in China and if your work is legal unless it's just another export to Africa business, you will struggle to make enough money as you will start at the bottom. In Dubai, even though you will start at the bottom you can earn more.

3) Bro have you been to either ? I've been to both and Dubai is a lot safer and cleaner (and is ranked as such by every international observer) I'm not saying China has open garbage on the roads (Not in Beijing or Shanghai) but it is a lot more polluted, the side alleys have literal faeces in them and there is a lot more crime than in Dubai (crime is reported in Chinese papers, u won't hear about it in English ones but look up crime statistics)

I've visited both and it wasn't just walking around. I don't know how you are comparing development but Dubai has better roads, better buildings, more modern technology, better services etc. If you compare military might or successful companies then sure, China is more developed. Else Dubai is a lot more developed.

It's fine to prefer whichever you prefer but Dubai is more developed than China as a whole and even Beijing. I won't say all of UAE but Abu Dhabi and Dubai are very well developed and not even London or New York compare with them

Dubai cons

1)It is very very hot (48+ degrees in summer)
2) The economy is bad right now, may be difficult to get jobs
3) You will face racism it doesn't matter what your religion is. If you're Muslim they will call you brother for 1 hour on Friday, then continue being racist
4) The law is unequal. Don't get into a fight with a gulf Arab because the law will support them even if you are right
5) No bankruptcy law if your business fails
6) Some Islamic laws so even though everyone is having sex they will arrest you If you kiss in public (even if married) and some hotels won't allow unmarried couples in the same room.

China pros
1) Better weather
2) No Islamic laws and you won't get arrested for kissing someone and hotels won't stop you sharing a room with someone
3) Less Racist than Arabs
4) More historic/cultural things to see
5) More powerful economy and innovation
6) Better legal protection

China cons
1) Really really polluted
2) you will make less money
3) Much Harder to start a job if you are not Chinese
4) More crime and not very clean
5) Many people don't speak English, most activities won't be in English and you will find it much harder to make friends
6) It's more difficult to meet people like you
7) China executes people for much lesser crimes than Dubai

What you said is right about benefits/earnings from crypto going to individual pockets and little or nothing going to the government.

To me, I don't know how many are patriotic enough to think about a government that barely care for them and since it's an honest investment myself and other non-lazy youths have embraced it.

Now, don't you think the government will gain massively from it when they choose to embrace it?

For example, imagine the government create 4 mining farms of
10,000 machines each... Great revenue will be generated from that alone.

That's my 2cents on the matter anyway.

Ireland, China and USA have one of the biggest cryptocurrency mining farms, and yes it's owned by individuals but there is no way the government wouldn't have been aware and approved such.

There may still be a way to tax crypto earners but am void of that at the moment.

I just think it's wrong for the guy to say crypto should be ruled out completely.

You require sophisticated monitoring systems to regulate and control crypto. At the very least you'd need a system that can keep track of all crypto transactions, a supercomputer to decode the encryption protecting the sender and receiver, a registry where all those trading in crypto would need to register, a sound central bank policy and a top notch investigative team not to mention you'd have to cut crypto traders in Nigeria off from the world because crypto is by its very nature it's own centralized system. Moreover as of now crypto is bought in USD not Naira (If im not wrong) which further devaluates the currency.

You're right that the government doesn't do much for its citizens and people aren't patriotic to such a government but if everyone embraced crypto the government would utterly collapse. Imagine things being 10 times worse than they are right now, truly a survival of the fittest scenario. The government can no longer profit off crypto farms because easy mining is over. You now need incredibly powerful graphics processors and a ton of electricity to mine new currency (at least for bitcoin and the popular cryptos) and Nigeria doesn't have the resources to spend on that. The one way I can see it working is if the govt works with crypto traders and users to establish an honest record of their income and taxes them on that. However, for such a system to work most places in Nigeria would have to start accepting crypto payments and people would need to change their mindset of not paying taxes.

The one thing they're wrong about is lawyers. It's a lawyers job to do what's best for his/her client, to the best if his/her ability. It is not their job to judge their client on the basis of innocence/guilt. The problem with many Nigerians is that they never engage in critical thinking. Perhaps it hurts their heads.

Crypto has been discouraged by every nation across the world despite some advancement in some of these societies.

Many countries do not have the means technologically or even by way of policy to tackle its existence, so at best, they tolerate it.

Nigerians on the other hand, have no national database, open borders, no CCTV, no forensic expertise, no technological know how, lots of criminally minded individuals who would cash in on this platform to perpetuate evil beyond imagination.

Sadly, all that most Nigerians hear is the ching ching of money and not the blowout possible.

You're welcome and yes many people don't appreciate that for your country to do something for you, you need to do something for your country.

Exactly as you say many countries have either outlawed or imposed severe restrictions on cryptos because they lack the technology to trace and regulate them and because their encryption makes tracing the payments extremely difficult.

Yes Nigeria lacks any means of tackling or regulating crypto much less tracing such payments. As I said on an individual level crypto can be profitable but at the detriment of the nation. It creates a weaker currency, helps avoid tax and creates security issues. If your job involves crypto speculation or you regularly use it to hedge your currency or to avoid taxes or you use it for shady, untraceable transactions, it can be great for you but it hurts everyone else.

The cons are that it's extremely disadvantageous to the country. It has many benefits for individuals but is bad for the group and it's very difficult to control or regulate and impossible to devise monetary policy. It's also international so doesn't help national level interests of any country.

Cryptos make sense for tax free havens and the like, not for any normal country

They did not just translate. They corrected and advanced on it. Al Haytham, al khwarizmi. Ibn sina etc. Eye surgery as early as the 12th century. Proper math with arab-hindu numerals and not roman numerals. Expanding on scale and the concept of zero. Algebra, algorithm systems etc. Not saying it all comes from the Islamic world. But essential facets of this world's advancements are from the Islamic world more so than they are from Greco Roman times. Islamicate traditions are big on critical thinking and patient experimentation. Like it or not, reverence for Allah and the macro plays a lot into it.

You're right they developed them further and yes the middle East and India played a big role in math and algorithms and China in material sciences but again it's not a result of religion but the hard work of intelligent people. A reverence of Allah did not play into it unless you're saying that the Muslims of today aren't real Muslims because in the last 100 years Muslim countries have contributed almost nothing to science and development.

The government is useless but without tax they won't exist. No laws, no courts, no police (as useless as they may be), no ambulance and govt hospitals or free education for the poor. The oil won't last forever and Nigeria isn't developed enough to be a tax free haven so once taxes go, all of these will go as well
