Is it that F2s cannot adjust their status to F1 or any other visa category while in the USA? Because you seem to always emphasize F2s will be complete liabilities in the USA. I have even heard of cases where F2s secured jobs and got sponsorships for H1B, though quite rare.
It is better you travel together with your spouse. Just ensure you have the relevant information, prepare well and commit it in God’s hands. Then consult those who have followed that route successfully. I followed that route and i am currently in US. Experience is the best teacher.

Please I want to ask if after having your F1 student visa at the embassy and you were approved, do you pay any other fee which is 44,000??
You don’t have to pay a dime to anybody and American Embassy will never request for a fee after the approval of visa.

If one is applying for F1 visa with F2. Is it just one visa application fee that is to be paid or F2 visa application fee is a must. Thanks in anticipation for the response
You must pay the same application/visa fee for both F1 and F2.

A friend of mine got PhD offer in the US. He has families and 2 kids. Since these kids will probably constitute nuisance and won't allow him to focus on his studies, can he forget about his family in Nigeria and tell his wife to find another husband? Going to the US is a big achievement and nothin should come in the way of that. Most times, it's better to forget about your parents in Nigeria and move anyways. That way you won't get bogged down with their issues while trying to figure your life abroad
It is evident you are ignorant of the merits of F1 traveling with his/her spouse and kids to the US, then your statement is spurious, baseless, unfounded and should be ignored by F1 and F2 applicants. I talk from experience.

Please, I need advice. My visa was approved for a school in the USA (one of the top schools for the program). My employer was to sponsor me and I used the company's statement of account during my visa process with a sponsorship letter the whole tuition. Now, the company has withdrawn the sponsorship letter because of a change in management. The company just gave me 5k usd. This means I will be responsible for the tuition and living expense.

I can't afford the deficit to attend that particular school. So, I have admissions from 2 other schools (lesser ranking than the other school) with lesser tuition. Someone advised me to transfer my sevis fee to one of the schools. I don't know if this is possible since I already have a visa for the first school.

Do you think there is another way to fund my studies at the first school considering the ranking? I am aware of loan options, but the loan institutions I know, Mpower and prodigy, did not approve my loan application.

What do you advise please
Reach me via my email let me advice you on what to do next. I'm in US

Is it compulsory for F1 and F2 to arrive the embassy together for checking of documents, picking number/queueing before the real interview?
Of course, it's a joint application.

Vo types for long and issue a blue paper saying sorry you are not qualify for us Visa at the moment, you can try again in the future.

Please what has gone wrong here?
And how soon can I reapply?
How do I answer what has changed?

I am seriously down since yesterday, please help me out.
You shot yourself in the foot. The two major reasons you got denied, 1. You didn't know the duration of the program of your spouse. 2. That the major money for the funding of your trip will be coming from the stipends the school gives your spouse. It's obvious you didn't do a proper research, at least the duration of the program ought to be in the I-20 form and they ought to be a separate fund for your trip from a sponsor not from the stipends he gets from the school, i believe the school would have informed your spouse the cost of your trip and know the person that may be responsible for it.

That you will stay with your spouse throughout the duration of his program may not be part of the reasons why you were denied visa because it is expected. I am talking from experience the same duration of program, F1 with spouse F2 and two kids F2,F2 and we got our visa approved. We are in US already.

@farggie, I couldn't respond to your advise (about not going to the visa appointment separately from my spouse) on the last thread because it has been closed.

Pls, can you shed more light around how the interview was conducted? Did they assign different VOs to you and your spouse or you interviewed with the same VO at the same time?

I don't know if your spouse was asked what she will be doing in the US during your program, what was her response?

Can you also please share your transcript, you and I have certain things in common.

Thank you in anticipation.
It was just one VO that interviewed my spouse and I, they couldn't have assigned separate VO to us because it was a joint application.

In my own case it was only the primary applicant(F1) that the VO asked questions on the choice of country, choice of school, choice of course, significance of the course, who will fund the trip and living expense of the 3 dependents for the duration of the program and plans after the program

Welldone for the good works.
Please I need your input on my case:

As an F1 visa applicant, I indicated I will be travelling with my family (of 4, myself inclusive), and in the DS-160 application, I quoted it there that I will be sponsoring their trip. Even though the school did not object to this (base on the balance on my statement of account) I have concerns in the following areas:

Will it be advisable we all go for the visa appointment together or should I apply alone and let them apply for their F2 separately?

If we all go together, I plan on using landed properties, business, and parents as tie to Nigeria, will this be acceptable??

OR can I simply tell the VO that the essence of their coming was for them to obtain their visa so that they can come around during vacations?

I appreciate every responses I can get to enable me scale through.

Thanks
What program? You guys should go together it has a lot of advantages, ensure you go with all the relevant document. There is no point telling the VO that you want your dependents to have their visa then visit you when they are on vacation. I went with my spouse and children, so i'm talking from experience

You claimed that some people are homeless in LA, it's not peculiar to USA alone it is found in most countries in the world, so that is not enough reason to discourage whoever that wants to japa abroad not to Japa. I live in US, life here is far better naija. Please if you have genuine means to japa don't hesitate to japa, take it or leave it.

VOs dont make any judgement on your case without an interview first. so tell me how they know abt giving him the visa. So since you say the read through his profile, do you know how many ppl profiles they will memorize? or please explain how they make the judgement bfr the interview. lol cos it makes no sense
I believe they have a team that reviews your application ahead of time or before your interview, whatever comment they make on your application that is what the VO will use as a guide.

Hello house!

For F1 and F2 that apply together for visa interview. Does F1 applying for Emergency Appointment also apply to F2?

I mean, when F1's EA date is granted, will F2 also be given same date as the EA date given to F1?

Thanks for always.
The EA date is applicable to both F1 and F2
Nairaland / General / Imo State Government Has Come Out To Explain Why Fancy Hotel Was Shut Down by farggie(m): 10:12am On Apr 02, 2020
The Imo State Government on Wednesday explained why it shut down Fancy Hotel, located in the Umuguma area of Owerri, the state capital.

“The hotel was shut by the Task Force working with the committee on Covid-19 for failing to comply with directives on the coronavirus as it concerns the state,” Ogwuike Nwachuku, Chief Press Secretary to Governor Hope Uzodinma, said while responding to enquiries by News Express.

“Unfortunately it happens that the owner of the hotel suspected to have returned from a country with high risk coronavirus attack had visited the place earlier. The Task Force had to move in to do the needful. As we speak Imo State has no single record of the coronavirus,” Nwachuku further said.

News Express had this morning broken the news of the closure of the hotel and unmasked the owner, Christogonus Aguwa Osuagwu, as the unnamed second Nigerian to die of Coronavirus (COVID-19) in the country.

Minister of Health, Dr. Osagie Enahire, had announced the death on Monday at a press briefing in Abuja, disclosing that the death occurred last weekend but refused to disclose the identity of the victim.

News Express reported that Fancy Hotel “has been shut down . . . by the Imo State Government while all the guests quarantined.”

It added that Osuagwu’s “immediate family whom he visited in Ahiazu Mbaise as soon as he came back from Europe have also been quarantined.”

The first person to die of COVID-19 in Nigeria was Engr. Suleiman Achimugu, a former Managing Director of the Products and Pipelines Marketing Company (PPMC).
