Okoyedavid3:Well maritime jobs is lucrative but not any more in Nigeria, except you are working in a multinational companies like Bourbon, Topaz, Thompe offshore etc (Some of these companies are no longer in Nigeria due to lot of factors) UAE is not a hotspot for Nigerian seafarers now, because they are employing lot of Nigerians over there just like UK taking away our health workers in Nigeria, now every dream of a seafarer is to move to a better company with good salary, fair contract and benefits In Nigeria, A captain in an indigenous maritime company earns about 1.5- 2 million (Which is very poor, ever since they brought local content law into the maritime sector, the blacks have been messing up the system) A chief mate could earn like 800k-1.2 million and could go higher if he or she possesses DPVM licence Normally this is what a crew onboard earns in a sane country and on offshore vessels like DSV or PSV Captain - $8000 - $15000 per month Chief Engineer- $7000 - $14000 per month Chief Mate or chief officer - $6000 - $12000 per month Second Engineer - $6000-$12000 per month Second mate or second officer - $5000 -$10000 per month Third engineer - $5000 -$10000 per month ETO - $12000 - $18 per month The ratings like the AB, Oiler & Cooks cook earn like $1500 - $2000 per month This salary depends on the company, country and type of vessel In Nigeria, I've seen where the chief engineer earns 3.5 million per month |
nurey:Mermaid is a myth and doesn't exist!!!!! i dont have a first hand experience on how submarine works, though i've read a lot on submarines.... its an incredible piece of engineering |
ibinaboonline:The parts is readily available in Lagos, but pricey though..... Sometimes i order from ebay, the parts is interchangable with Chevrolet Captiva or Opel Antara, And also uses ford parts too.... Its a sweet ride with no issues, and set me apart from other users... the Fuel economy with its ecotec engine is top notch |
ibinaboonline:Get it but remember their parts are so expensive and sometimes requires to be ordered.... One of my cars is a GM brand (Saturn Vue 2009) the parts are really expensive |
Because we don't have a working system to charge traffic offenders |
udede:Lol... Trouble dey sleep, you wan carry money go spray am ![]() |
Tobijays:Our private hospitals are cheap and also if you key into health insurance, you will benefit a lot I have an health insurance with Venus Medicare and I've been enjoying the benefits of it, even though I hardly visit the hospital but my family are utilizing it well. |
. |
Tobijays:Nobody is against that..... But you complaining about doctors living for greener pastures while they were trained in Nigeria is unethical, because we are thriving to survive and to live a better life, you won't expect me to remain in a place where my salary is not paid on time or not enough to settle bills. Sorry about calling you an hypocrite, but sometimes we have to face reality that this country Nigeria is retrogressing. |
Mamayam:i didn't attend your type of conventional school nah...... |
Ask me Anything about Ships or how you can become a crew onboard, I will gladly answer your questions, Nairaland doesn't have a forum for ships, hence the car section might be a perfect fit Note: I don't give jobs, but I can guide you on navigating through the maritime career path I have been looking for an opportunity to give you an inner experience of how an offshore vessel looks like... They are different types of vessels 1. Roro ship 2. Container ship 3. Bulk carrier 4. Crude carrier 5. Gas Ship (LNG) 6. Oil tankers You can Google each of them to get an insight on what they do I work onboard offshore vessels, that's why I'm gonna narrow my explanation on this type of vessels We have vessels which provides vital services to offshore installations which include 1. AHTS - Anchor Handling and Towing vessel 2. ASD Tugs - Azimuth Stern Drive tugs 3. DSV - Diving support Vessel 4. PSV - Platform Supply Vessel 5. Seismic Vessels 6.Pipe Laying vessels The above mentioned vessels are all available in Nigeria carrying out services for IOCs Though I've only worked on AHTS, ASD Tugs even though other vessels are of the same configuration but they perform different tasks The duty of AHTS and ASD tug is for static towing Onboard a ship, we have ratings and officers and it has two departments Deck & Engine The Captain is the overall, that's why he's also called the master but the certification of the captain and Chief Engineer is the same Officers Captain Chief Engineer Chief Mate or chief officer Second Engineer - This is my rank onboard Second mate or second officer Third engineer ETO Ratings (Depends on the type of vessel) Bosun, also called QuarterMaster AB Oiler Cook Onboard the ship, my responsibilities are enormous, ranging from Main engine maintenance, generators, Steering gear systems, Air conditioning unit etc I'm onboard, and the bandwidth is crazy to upload pictures, I may do that much later if the network is good |
mastermaestro:You are just jealous about everything..... Didn't they pay tuition fee? Bought textbooks? Handouts nko? Or the government handed everything free for them? I'm still in Nigeria, working in a maritime company and paid more than a million naira per month, I've gone to different countries onboard a ship... I paid my tuition fees without the aid of the FG, So geddefok outta here as if you had the opportunity you ain't gonna do the same. Let the government treat their citizens right... Pay health workers and teachers good salary UAE are paying seafarers (Second engineers in Nigeria with DP earns 1.3million per month while in UAE you are paid about 2.3million per month) more than Indigenous maritime companies in Nigeria and lot of my mates are leaving for a more better salary and benefits, so what are you gonna say about this too? Mtchewww |
Tobijays:You can do the same...... Stop being an hypocrite |
Failure2019:Abeg dey lie small small lol |
PandoraObi:From your responses, it shows how childish you are, probably you are still under your parents roof feeding fat from their hard-earned money, If only they know what they procreated is a MONSTER, full of hate and bigotry |
sammirano:Purge yourself from HATE!!!!! |
Hussein035:In as much I don't tolerate bigotry and tribal incitement You should also purge away hate from your heart In this world we came with nothing and we gonna all die taking nothing to the grave even your land of origin So why are we just hating ourselves over nothing? Nairaland is always promoting tribal wars ... Seun is also low-key pushing this agenda.. It won't END WELL for all of us if we continue acting this way |
JAMO84:You are just another jobless loser on earth........ just get a life out of your penury ![]() |
tizteezy:Inverter - This type of AC uses single rotor compressor which requires high speed rotation thereby more vibration and noise during operation at full capacity, though its energy efficient (It takes time to cool the room) Dual Inverter AC - This type uses two rotor compressor and moves at 180 degree phase angle (This means it provides faster cooling, reduced noise levels, high energy savings, and shorter wait time with greater stability than normal inverter AC) it is more expensive than the Inverter AC In a nutshell: Its just like a car with a single cell radiator and a double cell radiator... Which car go get more cooling effect pass? Genpal: It just a trademark name used by these brands to tell you that it is generator friendly even with the smallest generator |
azidomedogo:Your AC has a leakage of refrigerant, get a good technician that has leak detector tools to check for leakage and braze affected point.... Most of these AC doesnt come with 100% copper coil tubings and hence the material fails and you start having issues with leakages if there's no leakages, then either your indoor or outdoor PCB is bad Panasonic, Carrier and Friedrich remains the best in Air conditioning LG might be considered.... but anything with Nexus, Hisense their tubing are alloy (Aluminum with copper) |
austinceasar:lol..... I look like hustler? |
austinceasar:Nice ride, but the front bumper go commot one hand for our bad roads down Port Harcourt here Na for Abuja dem fit drive this one ![]() |
emmaodet:Go to their website, they have all the information you need |
Nathan2016:GIG is doing it....... They will give you a dedicated address to send you items, and you can track all items and consolidate them for shipping to Nigeria from your dashboard |
jboixxx:So which choice is at least 95% Speedaf? |
does it have TF Card slot? |
@mosbus I have been following your thread keenly and i love technicians who works with modern tools peculiar to their job scope, Well i have a Saturn vue 2009 SUV and during the course of scanning my car, I got the P0532 code which points to the refrigerant pressure sensor, The issue here is that the car AC is not really effective during the day (Like extremely hot weather) but its ice cold in the evening, So i just took delivery of the Pressure sensor from ebay Note: I've taken the car to AC technicians and all of 'em are talking about leakage and one I.diot even suggested to change compressor lol That is why i had to check on Youtube for a possible solution and lot of videos on the P0532 suggested a pressure sensor replacement and how to change it Now, the issue now i don't want to lose refrigerant while trying to change this sensor neither do i have vacuum pump to pump down the gas before changing, i want to know if this model of cars (GM brand) have Schrader valve before the sensor (probably you have worked on such cars before) |
senator2k9:Replaced your spark plugs with original NGK plugs |
YPP don win Uyo already |
Putting pressure on their social services? LMAO like really? Y'all folks are just doing too much...... |
TheSameGuy:Moses of your household |
Dey play.... The Quality of this Fanta we were supplied when we went to bring back a vessel from Spain to Nigeria is entirely different
