Satellite TV TechnologyRe: Installing A Motorised Satellite Dish System by fasone(m): 2:21pm On Mar 31, 2010
spaceman:
@ Fasone
Good to hear you have tried the set-up yourself and pointed out the realities.
That the movement time between satellite is very fast, is inspiring me to go back to it.
On the issue of latitude setting, well i dont know the make of motor you are using. The motor im talking of could span 85 degrees west and 85 degrees east. The anchor part is not calibrated,  you just have to adjust it freely  up/down, and fix your motor to it. I think maybe if you use the USAL mode you might not need to border on the lat stuff.
Anyway, I shall soon try it out, and from the look of the Navigator motor, i hope to achieve all!
I encourage you 2 go back to it and notify us. Like I said b4, the make of my motor is superjack HH motor and it can carry a maximum of 100cm dish. the azimuth swing is 85 deg east to 85 deg west but the latitude scale calibrated on the motor housing is just 15-65 deg.
well, i dont know if USALS can be of any help.

Diseqc HH Motor Issue on Sat TV Technology

@microgiant
thank you, that is a good write-up. i remember that enitan wrote another good one in session 3 as well. kudos to all of you.my question now is- have you ever installed a working HH motor in this part of the globe that tracks the belt well?
if yes, then we should be able to learn from you. ask olofofo, he will tell you he couldnt track well. he has one and i got my superjack HH motor from him late last year. the issue is that the difficulty faced didnt arise from our technicality, the problem, to me, is that HH motor are not designed for Nigeria whose latitude lies btw 5 and 12 degree because the latitude settings printed on the motor always lies btw 15 to 65 and this must be set precisely 2 your local coordinate. i used mine experimentally at ibadan on 7 deg latitude where i tracked the southernmost sats of sirius 4 and W3. tried as i did, i couldnt track the eastern and western sats. the manual is very easy to follow but the spec doesnt match Nigeria factors, so it is better said in theory.
some of the limitations highlighted by spaceman didnt arise at all in practice. The time it takes to move from W3a to Sirius 4 was very very fast that you hardly notice it. because you didnt install HH motor, the decoder look for signal to synchronize to and so took its time. please let us know who has been successful in this installation as i can see that HH motor is an ingenious masterpiece that can transform our fta entertainment in our landlord's house where space poses a legal limitation.
Thank you all.

@ fasone,
thanks alot for the info on how to fix to 69x,i think of even taking it back to the dealer for replacement since i just bought on saturday.what could have been the possible cause of these problem?
Better, Gud for you 2 take it there.

@all,my 69x which i install two days back is writing LNBF,i have cross check the cable again and its still writing the same thing.I have reset the factory to default,but still the same,pls is there any solutlon to this problem.
you need the service of a qualified electronics repair man, he should open it and look for and replace a 3-legged voltage regulator usually marked 78xx, I cant recollect the actual figure after 78, it is most probably located around the lnbf inlet port. hope this helps.

@olofofo,

it appear that installing HH motor in this part of the globe to track the Clark belt will be a serious issue, unless something better comes up in term of getting one that has its latitude scale down to 4 degrees. honestly the motor is trendy and moves fast between the 2 satellites that i got easily. have a look at this link hxxp://www.sadoun.net/forums/hh-motors/14482-question-about-latitude-sg-2100-a.html, let me know if anything positive comes up.
Satellite TV TechnologyRe: Official Thread Of Free To Air Satellite Tv (part 4) by fasone(m): 1:32pm On Dec 10, 2009
w3a, sirius and nss7 working fine on mine. no luck yet with the rest of the satellites.
Yours is better. I also got the top-of-the-arc satellites (W3A and Sirius) correctly when I first installed it but none from far east and west. Later I adjusted the dish and mount elevations to track Astra and W4, I got the two but lost W3 and Sirius. I understand that the motor must be set to local latitude but the scale is far above Nigerian latitude range. What is your own present set motor latitude?

@all,
pls has any one successfully installed a working hh diseqc motor? mine would not track the clark belt after many trial, the pole is dead vertical but the latitude scale on the motor range from 15-65 degrees which is lower than 7 degree latitude where i am installing it. does it mean that it can not work in west Africa? come to my aid pls if u have the practical know-how. thanks

@olofofo,
thank you very much 4 ur gestures when i came to your abode all the way from ibadan to pick up the HH diseqc motor. your accommodating nature and practical lecture/instruction are quite appreciated. though, i am yet to put 2 work, i envisaged that i wont have problem installing it having read a lot about it. i noticed that the marked latitude range is between 15 and 65 but there is a margin down there where about 5 can be obtained making it useful 4 naija. i actually need between 7 to 8 for use in ibadan. once again, thanks, one luv nairaland fta forum.

Dejsam:
@lovala,

its the same as the null modem cable.(both ends  must be female)but the issue is that most of the ones u get from computer shops are straight cables,meaning that they are not crossed so u have to do the crossing manually.so all u need to do is get a multimeter used in measuring electrical values then the null modem cable will be cut in to two equal halves from the middle then u now cross both sides like this:

pin1---------------------------------pin5

pin2---------------------------------pin3

pin3---------------------------------pin2

with this crossing method u can use it with any receiver or loader.either strong or echolink or starsat,etc

i hope this helps u out.
@dejisam and all,

i think that there is a typo error there, it is actually pin5 to pin5, because the 2 must be ground (GND) lines on either side of the connectors. just a contribution. kudos to u all.

Buvs,

Just wanna know, is there a possibility of fixing the Strong SRT 4653x remote control (without which one cannot perform any meaningful task with the decoder? Mine slipped and fell from my wife's hand and stopped working. If it can't be repaired, is there the possibility of buying just the remote control? i hope in future Strong Technologies of such happenings.
Most remote controls could be fixed successfully unless it fall in liquid or the battery polarity is interchanged wrongly. What u do is have it opened up, u will see a rectangular box-like device on the panel sometimes close to the battery compartment and not on the surface where buttons are. It has two legs that are usually soldered down on to the board, one of it may have removed or cut due to continual falls. now, use your ingenuity to rebuild the broken leg and solder it back. You should be OK, you can then use a little super glue to hold the device to the board to prevent future occurrence due to shaking from constant usage. u can then save your money.hope this help u and others with similar remote issues.

My good people I hail all of you. Well done for keeping this forum alive. All of u have been doing very well, I dont want to mention names, too numerous u know. Let me tell you that any one who comes here to pick information and use it to the detriment of Nigerian fta is already having the curses of God on his head. If u are one of them, leave now. Lets us enjoy what our meager income can afford us. Not many of us can afford the offers from daarsat, dstv, hitv, trendtv and the rest of them, abi. Long live FTA.

I think we should just exercise some patience whenever it appears that mytv is blocked. The reason being that it has never been blocked for a while now. I noticed also that mytv wouldnt open on my receiver too but I restrained myself from applying the latest patch which I had with me of course. After a few hours, the channel opened again with march 9th 2009 patch currently on my receiver. (SRT4661X_4664X_MyTV_121p_20090309) May be they were trying to find the key to lock the channel, I pray that they never get it.(LOL)
Good day all.

@all,
An update on my nilesat installation done over the weekend.
Dish size was a 3.0m fibre with fuji lnb.
well done george,

@all
when shall we start seeing H-H satellite motor in our markets? I think our importers wants us to buy all 60 - 90 cm dishes which they imported to this country first, Ideally one of such motor/actuator is enough to take care of our NSS7, W3, Sirius 4, W4 and Pas 7/10 all Ku band dishes we are currently scattering in our rented houses. What do u have to say to this 60 - 90 cm dish users especially?

Those rushing to register in the G-group should only do so out of
true sincerity. If you're registering just because of the satellite
alignment goodie, you may be dissapointed O.
I think I may have to take it down because of the unnecessary attention
it is generating.
