ESULAALU: 5 lessons Seeing your level of determination, I really don't want you to waste your time so if you live close to the SE postcodes the EASIEST place to pass on first attempt is Hither Green. Now, you have booked 5 lessons, it means you will need to take those lessons on the possible routes the examiner will ask you to drive on. The road signs are good to follow. The examiners often avoid going on the major routes in hither green in the morning because of rush hour which causes a build up of traffic especially approaching the roundabout there. Most stick to the 30mph inner roads.Occassionally, some examiners might insist venturing on the major roads but the routes are easy to travel on even with minimal practice, beware of bus lane/times(avoid completely if possible) and master traffic lights for your own routes- important! However, that being said generally brush up on the following: Practice your show me tell me questions, round about rules ( give way to the right always, no hesitation), always use your mirrors, all three and ensure examiner sees you doing it(especially when approaching junctions or exiting , you have to be on point with your MSM malarkey, mirror signal manoeuvre and all the associated neck twisting observations). Let youtube guide you as you do further personal practice. Practice your manoeuvre like parralel parking( align mirrors with car you intend to park behind or align with fuel tank if parking right in front of car, steer left- sight the v shape as it aligns with the kerb, pause, steer right and straighten up, this is one manoeuvre you will need quite often). Emergency stop, bay parking etc
Good luck and your comment brought me back to life in the travel section. Justwise how you dey and vicjustice? Welldone o! Thank your for this detailed explanation. Very helpful but this your moniker dey fear person to call oo |

Thank you. If you have a B.Ed with a duration of 4 years and also did teaching practice during your course of study, I believe you should be fine according to the AITSL guideline. |

Ekitibiased: Already preparing to clear plab 1 and 2 in the UK .....masters not a waste at all, it's a huge plus. More flexible chances of plab in UK compared to being in naija Education can never be a waste but paying so much for it now when you can get it cheaper through another route. Just of the opinion dt d end doesnt always justifies d means. If you have the money for masters then apply for visa and clear your PLAB 1 and 2 in 6months and besides studying for the exam with masters won't be that easy. All the best. |

Ralphlauren: how long have you worked with your current employer? less than a year or more?
are you still on probation or have you been confirmed?
have you done any quarterly or yearly performance reviews? what has the feedback been?
you are on a tier 2 visa - piss off your sponsor (employer) and they can very easily get rid of you.
rather than taking up another job elsewhere, why not speak to your manager and see if you can work overtime/longer hours.
the last thing you want is them blaming any dip in performance or errors to your additional job You are right but don't think it's that difficult as doctors working with different Locum agency and timetable isn't usually fixed or is oga sutelk not a Doctor? |

And even if you do, they won't take it personal it's not a big deal and as long it doesn't affect you showing up on time to work |

sutelk: My elders I greet you, your boy needs your experienced counsel. I'm on a Tier 2 visa, I'm aware I'm allowed to do extra jobs, or so I believe. So an opportunity to earn some extra cash with my spare time has propped up. I can't remember, but I think I've read somewhere that if I have to take up additional jobs then I have to inform my current employer/sponsor, don't remember where I read this. The issue now is that those that want to connect me with the extra job are advising me not to mention it to my line manager, they say I won't get into any trouble as I'm not doing anything illegal. They say informing my line manager will only make them start looking for faults which they can blame on the fatigue resulting from overworking myself. What's your take guys? I'm tempted by the extra cash, but not too comfortable with informing my line manager, but I want to be sure I won't get into any trouble if I don't inform my line manager. You can work for another employer but must not be more than 20hrs a week. But no such restriction for the dependant |

Mamatukwas: Wow! But it’s still the normal visiting visa they will give her abi? What’s the advantage of this route. Plus the woman has saved all the money to apply and is raring to go? I don’t want to go and sponsor now and there will be coma It is still the same visiting visa and it's all about your documentation being packaged very well including her financial statement and showing ties back to Nigeria. I think stating she would be here for 3months or more on the application may be disadvantageous. |

Yinkzy03: Hello Guys,
Great work you all are doing on this thread. It has really helped me and my family to settle in well. Will share some of my experiences here to help people who might want to go same path.
I'm on a dependant permit, my wife's employer sponsored her and that covers for spouse and children under 18 (i think max of 4 children, i'm not sure about this).
To get my National Insurance Number, i had to call, they scheduled me for an interview as Nigerians now fall under the category of people to be interviewed. I'm still expecting that as it takes a while, max of 6weeks i think. You don't need this to work, you just need to show your employer that you had initiated the process. My wife did't have to do this as she had hers already at the back of her BRP as the principal applicant.
I got a temporary job in about a month after i got in to the country through an agency. I was made to understand that UK experience is key to enable you get a reference, and you know what, the moment i started and updated my CV, it really and truly enhanced my chances as i got more interview calls and all. I have been eating cold sandwich as lunch at work since o and looking for cheap meal deals up and down, that wont be for long sha as i need to start bringing food to work and save money.
We got a flat through Rightmove, inspected and settled for our best bet. That cost us a fortune though, deposit and agency fees attached to it. Bought sofa, bed and mattress through Argos and was delivered but the bed was a big deal to set up, i screw tire so tay my hand sore the next day. (i forgot to write a review of that on Argos website)
Now i'm considering changing career, spoken to some people but i need opinions here, you guys have always been so on point. here is my question, which professional exam can one go for now and you are assured of jobs all over? is Prince2 still a catch? Does the 5days training and certification realistic as i don't want to just go throw way money wey i no get give any academy. Just wana get it right plssssss.
Now childcare is a hell of stress, if you sabi sit down for armchair and be ordering people around in Nija, then you must have loads of money to be able to do same here otherwise you will just be frustrated. Even to get Nursery that is not fully booked is a challenge. I have seen a lot of arrangements asper childcare o,going to the Nursery for 3days in the week and going to stay at a Church member's house for the remaining 2days at a cost.
On Bank Account, I'm yet to open one, they need the original utility bill in my name and the available appointment days seems far away so i just left it jare, will go back next week. I get my salary paid into a friend's bank account.
I have just paid for the Provisional Driving Licence, as soon as i receive the form, will fill and push it out. Pls how long does it take to be issued?
Sorry for my long epistle, just thought to share.
Will update as things unfold. Congratulations and thanks for sharing. Prince2 is a catch but the 5days type of training doesn't count. Changing careers could be a good thing just research well based on what you are really interested in and you can still search for banking jobs or statistician roles in the meantime. You never can tell, If your past bank experience can be presented as an international company that may also help. Just write a very good CV and see how it goes. Account wise, it's best you open one immediately because you are building your friends credit history with that while you should start with yours asap. |

Aphrodite007: Me I don’t have patience for those Nigerian High Comm staff. I know what they did to me one time I wanted to emigrate to Canada. I plan on timing my passport renewal to when I’ll travel to Nigeria for holidays. I have people I will just tip and they will get it done in a day or two, with me relaxing in my house. I can’t come and die please!
If anybody calls me corrupt here, Me and you will enter one trouser! Lol.we won't call you corrupt yet till you do am ..the story is no longer same for naija oo,that you do passport in 1 or 2days. It can take up to 1 or 2weeks even if you know someone. Booklet is never enough. |

[quote author=Rubyventures post=70867236]True. You work in a bank and you and I know that HP is one of the worst deals, but it is dressed up to look nice. You are better off just getting a cheap loan from the bank or better still pay for the car you can afford. But no " Mr Adeleke did thanksgiving in church with his new 18reg car, next month I must get 68reg at all cost". This is the mentality of most Nigerians they don't even read the documents properly before signing cos of excitement. by the time the find out about the gbese its too late and then they start to struggle, robing peter to pay Paul. Please always read the small print , if unsure don't sign. [/quo quote] Exactly at bolded in this country that you sign a lot of document, one has to be careful about the details and as they say the devil is in that details. If not for credit score there is absolutely no need for CC because you and up paying it out of your income and not like you have awoof money that can enter when you least expect it except for the contractors here sha |

MrBigiman: Chief got a free accommodation 1hr:50mins from my academy in London. Is it doable travelling that distance daily, or staying close to the academy. It's very doable oo. Cost of accommodation and maintenance in London isn't a joke. And considering you are spending naira. You can get an oyster card which travels to the between the zone of the academy and your accommodation. I know for certain close to the academy on accommodation you will spend £140/wk then feeding and others will be up to you as well. Weigh all the options and all the best in your exam. |
