Of course , points will increase but will still favour singles. The point based will now be like :

Age: 30 points

Qualification: 15 points

English test: 20 points ( superior)

Marital status (Single): 10 points

State nomination: 10 points

Total points: 85

This is interesting.
That will.even be 15points for regional nomination. Hope they wont increase that minimum point from 65 is the prayer. It seems too good to be real grin

hey guys, am here for your advice

can anyone tell me what jobs are quicker/easier to get in uk -based in Stoke-on-Trent . we don't want any too much sitting around. the visa expenses won't pay itself undecided
Hubby has experience in building construction but seems like that is going to be irrelevant here when he arrives.
other quick jobs to get/where to visit once he arrives outside care homes

thanks
He can also check out jobs in construction, can he use any of the building software proficiently? Experience in BIM softwarss is also a plus

Hello people! Great info exchange on this thread!

As the UK immigration rules keep changing, one seemingly has to seek clarity time and again to be sure to stay on the right side of the law therefore, please I'd like to know:-
1. How long (maximum) a Tier-2 worker can travel/stay outside the UK without getting into trouble with UKVI and

2. How long can you stay in between changing jobs without a problem.

I believe the cooling period before re-entry (should one resign a job and leave the UK), is 12 months but I'd appreciate your inputs please and thank you!
Response to your questions
1. Its advisable you dont exceed 3months in a 1 year cycle as that year wont be recorded against ILR if you are on a Tier Visa. On the other hand, the visa is attached to an employer, doubt you can get any days outside the usual annual leave.

N.B- for future ILR application, you would need a letter from your employer approving such absence from the UK.

2. Doubt you can continue staying in the UK legally once your current Tier 2 expires (unless you are due for ILR). Either you get another sponsor or stay with the current sponsor and extend your stay before your current leave expires

Investing in TB in Nigeria is quite easy anywhere in the world.

1. Look for a good Investment Bank/Commercial Bank and indicate your interest in investing on that instrument. A bank would try and convince you not to do it though and give you a Fixed Deposit option (Reason is the TB money goes to the CBN/FG Whatever and they cannot make money from money that is not in their custody)

2. Open an account. They will need your ID and utility bill. If you are using a UK address, the bill should be notarized, if Nigerian address, all well and good.

3. Ask for the Tenors; 91-day, 182-day and 365-day (UK use the 364-day structure). Rates are between 11 - 13% pa depending on the tenor. One thing you should understand is that 11% is Naira is not 11% in Pounds oo.

4. Fund your account and invest. If you invest N200,000 for the 91 day 11% pa (for example), TB has an upfront interest payment where you can get your interest at the early stage and collect/re-invest your capital at maturity.
What about investing in TB in the UK?

You own the car at the end of your term with a HP. You don't with a PCP.

Worse still, at the end of a PCP term, you have to pay a baloon payment to the dealership to buy the car.

Doubly worse, is that if you write off a car on a PCP deal, you owe the dealership.

There might be discrepancies in valuation of the cars worth between the dealership and the insurance company.

If the insurer values the car less than the finance provider, you will have to personally cover the shortfall....unless you took out gap insurance in the past.

Obviously if you take out gap insurance, your monthly outgoing on the car goes up.

The smartest way to finance a car is through a bank loan. That way, at least the car is your own from day 1.
Agree at the bolded

Paying back every month, also means you are using your card like a debit card, and not a debt card ........... It really palys no part in credit building ..........

A report placed on your file and other lenders might not like your financial habit/decision .................
Funnily if you use more than 50% of your limit as well it drops credit rating, because it shows too much reliance on credit.

My people let's discuss, when buying a car on finance which is better between HP and PCP. Don't think we have ever talked in details about this.

I have read so many things online and inclined to go for PCP because of the advantages of changing cars easily, and attached perks like free servicing and MOT and all with the ability to just give it back at the end of the "renting" period. However, I am wary of that subject to terms and conditions of fair wear and tear.

So anyone with experience of both should pls share.

You simply allow for the payments + locum shifts are plentiful to overpay ......... Hence reducing your financial strain and increasing your credit score ............

It's must be calculated .......

I would rather take a £10K loan and pay back £11,500, than a £10k debt card and eventually end up paying back £100,000........

You get my drift ?...... huh
I get your point but what if you just spend like a small portion of it and ALWAYS pay back in full every month, there is no interest rate right?

People always say credit card improves your credit score but is it really true in Uk?.... America yes but don't know if its applicable in uk and i tell you why

I got a credit card maybe 10 years ago. Just one. I never used it one day amd manage my life around my debit card meaning i am as good as not having a credit card... i went to get my credit score online and nothing came up .

I got a mortage easily .... all that was check was earnings .. This made me think if you had a bad credit history yet it affects but if you have no history it probably makes no difference
If you don't use the CC, it wont have an impact on your credit score and I would say it's one of the fastest way to build credit score.

Case in point, hubby and some colleagues got HSBC CC at the same time, but we utilised it wisely, while the other colleague did not use it at all, few months after we decided to get a loan from HSBC and we got it @3.9% APR and the other colleague wanted the same loan for the exact duration and all but the best he could get was @8% APR, which is still better than my yeye Halifax offer sha.

I believe without CC, you can definitely get things done but the interest rate goes higher

Please is there any Engineer with zero work experience that has applied and gotten grant ??

This is my case ooo
I just finished MSc Civil eng UI with zero work experience.

Please I need someone to guide me through this journey
It all depends on the potential point you are likely to claim regards to age, education and English. You obviously have zero from work experience.

To get a successful assessment as a Civil engineer you don't need work experience. You can use your project during MSC and BSC as career episodes and any other project done during your IT which totals 3 episodes required.

Right now for Australia PR it's best to target 20point in English to stand a good chance.

So first step calculate your potential point and start getting ready for the English test.

N.B:- you can also claim points from state nominating your profession.

Nice thread, pls ma how do I apply for a dependent? Im applying for tier 2 general. I finished my application yesterday through gov.UK site but I couldn't find the apply for someone else tab. Even after signing out from my application I can't seem to create another account. It always brings me back to sign into my own application. Pls I need your help urgently as I don't know how to move forward from this stage. I have to apply for my husband ASAP so both application can be reviewed together because of my COS. Should I create his own account through visa4uk even though I used gov.uk for mine? I started it one time last week through gov.uk but had to log out half way and now even when I try to use his email and password to log in it says the log in details are incorrect. I'm so confused, I stayed up late last night trying to figure it out. I will appreciate your help. Thanks
Just seeing your message, hope you have been able to resolve this. I really can't remember the full processes but I know there is an option for Tier 2 dependant on visa 4 UK which you can create using your own account. In essence, you create different application under one account. I hope it helps. All the best.

N.B- pls make sure all your documents are complete, cos I know of people denied because of wrong IELTS result (general not UKVI) and getting TB test done outside Nigeria.

Steps on requesting a refund on IHS Surcharge

When we applied in 2017 for a 1year visa, the dependants were charged for 3years IHS and for some reasons, I always thought UKVI would do checks and balance when renewing after and then process the refund automatically from there.

One has to call or email to first lodge the complaints and get a series of questions you need to provide answers to. My advise is to email them from the get go as calling is way more expensive and still doesn't solve your issue.

I spent over £20 listening to the list of questions I need to be able to answer over the phone, so subsequently I sent them an email (£5.49) which covered any further correspondent from thereon. Below is a list of questions that is usually requested so hope this would help others jumpstart the processes faster.

It took a little over 3 weeks once the email was sent and money was paid back into the originating card used. I was quite surprised it came out that fast based on bad reviews online.

My advise is if you are just applying for UK visa please use your own personal card or someone close to you incase you would be seeking for any sort of refund. Thank God I didnt use the agent I almost went with then because of bad naira
