my 9 month old has 8 teeth. i use colgate for babies. it is written on it that it is safe to swallow. it came with a m=small toothbrush. you can also use his washcloth i guess

Able mama's in the house am a ftm and my baby is 5weeks old now.At birth she weighed 3.6kg.After her birth she started loosing weight due to my nt been able to produce enough milk we supplemented wit formula but decided to continue breastfeeding feeding since am producing enough b.milk but upon going for checkup today for her she weighed 3.6kg again.pls mothers I need ur help am told I should eat more and eat well balanced diet.I will really need you to advice on the types of food I should eat so she can add up.

its normal for babies to lose weight for the first 2/3 weeks of birth. google it up and read more. (5-10%) is considered normal, but the baby should be back to birth weight on or before 4 weeks. i think everything you have said is consistent with this

If his weight is below average then you need to find a way to feed him even if he thinks he isn't hungry.

What's with telemundo and flash back. Any they wrap up any telenovela without ruining it.

And @rezzy if his weight is small try putting him on a schedule of 2/3 hours instead of feeding on demand, so you know exactly when he should eat and ensure he is getting enough

Someone advised I start now so that when he starts teething, it won't disturb him. He takes NAN and I breastfeed him also. He takes NAN twice a day, I don't give him weekend.

I don't keep records but he sucks fine. In the day, anytime he starts disturbing, I put bresst in his mouth. He sucks at least 4 times before daybreaks

Pls stay away from teething drugs. If during ACTUAL teething the baby runs temp give paracetamol

3 months is too early. Wait till at least 4 months and start with rice cereal then maybe oatmeal cuz it's easily digested

I have started the diet small small. I avoid carbs and eat my last meal before 7pm.
I will start the exercises as soon as I buy the CDs.
The only problem be say instead of reducing, I seem to be adding more. ..winch pipe don dey try them self. Dem nor want me to babe up back!Lol

I have not been able to post since yesterday.

My 11weeks old baby discovered his thumb last week and started sucking it aggressively,. He used to be cry cry that I have to carry him while doing house chore but since last week that he started sucking his thumb, his cry has reduced.

Some people told me to leave him and others said I should stop him. My Mil said I should use plaster or sucker. So I used the plaster on Friday. He cried throughout the night, he even woke up 3 am and refused to sleep.
So I gave him sucker yesterday but I don't know how safe it is.

Will the sucker stop him or should I plaster his hand.?

Babies suck to soothe themselves and also to settle and fall asleep. If it's not the thumb it will be your boobs or the pacifier (sucker).

I will say go for the pacifier since he takes it and try to plaster his hands, cuz when he is older like two you can take the pacifier away and let him deal but you can't take his thumb away, therefore it will be very hard to get him to stop

Hmm. I guess I'm lucky I don't like swallow. My vice is chocolate, biscuits and pastries.

Brown bread,small palm oil will do.
Infact, small qty of every every is ok.

D thing is let ur output equals input.
And since u hv family, it will be hard keeping to a particular diet.

Reduce frying or don't fry at all. I don't fry and I cook with little oil especially stew.

I will rather go without rice completely than eat brown rice ewwwww! Tasteless . Im not a bread person either, so instead of the calories in wheat bread I won't enjoy, il rather eat ugwu and sweet potato which I love.

I actually don't mind my beans with fried tomatoes and pepper, I don't eat swallow so I don't miss Palm oil at all. Everything I'm eating I actually love. So for me it's sustainable. The only thing I can say I miss is indomie and pastries but I can live without it

The key is to find what you like and make it work for you

Haha. Lost weight after giving birth but off course exclusive bf and being up and hungry at midnight dint help. I ballooned back to 85kg which was my weight at 28wks preggers and my tummy was huge

In December I bought 5 Julian Michaels DVD

30 days shred, burn fat boost metabolism, no more trouble zones, 6 weeks 6 packs and extreme shed

I also bought two 3 pound dumbells and Iv been working out 5 days a week alternating te DVDs. They are about 25/30 mins each so they don't take too much of my time

I also cook and take food to work so I'm not tempted to eat rubbish, Iv eliminated bread, indomie, pasta, rice, palm oil, red meat and all the likes

I eat a lot of ugwu made with lil olive oil, unripe plantain or sweet potatoe. White beans with tomatoes and onions fried with lil olive oil, fish pepper soup, etc

I'm down to 76kg now. My aim is 65kg and my tummy is almost back to pre pregnancy.

So you can make a plan and stick to it

I agree with u totally. My friend visited Naija from d US and was told Enfamil is 8k, she almost pulled down my roof with scream. Something less she buys for less dn 3k. She settled for Nan and even bought 3cartons as she was leaving. When I looked @ d tin of Nan closely, I realised it's made in Switzerland not even Naija as I tot.

Sma is not made in Nigeria either. I actually don't know any baby food that's formulated here actually,

I'll say listen to your dr. Except you don't have confidence in him, then change him.

With regards to your son, have you tried increasing the portions? Did he resist? Try and stretch the time he has in btw feeds, it might make him eat more. You can start by making it 3.5 hrs, then 4 hrs, then 4.5. Give him a light snack like yoghurt or biscuit in btw but not a full meal.

Also try and put him on a consistent routine if you haven't already (whereby you feed him at the same time everyday)
