Yes, it's our usual practice to design first and I have done it for every person that contact me for jobs here and off here. At my busiest time, I may just send a free hand sketch of the intended arrangements.
I spent a fortune to get one of those sketches.

The lady that did the sketch refused to give me a breakdown of the materials like you just did for free. She insisted on being paid 50% of her proposed contract sum before she would. Yet in addition to paying her, I paid for lunch for her at a restaurant, because I wanted to impress on her that I really wanted it urgently, and so she would feel somewhat obligated to deliver as requested.

Please don't stop doing this.

You may feel like you are giving away your brainwork for nothing, but rest assured, you are making friends that can easily give you business.

People do business with people they like. You just made yourself likable. No one gives his enemy money. People nearly always give those they like money.

This is the second time I am noticing someone saying good about you because of your free sketches, and I have no choice but to take note of you for future business.

I believe I speak for others when I say I am not alone.

You should have bought the RCCB or RCBO type A and not type AC. RCCB type AC have been discontinued in most western countries because if electrical circuit is saturated with DC milliamps, RCCB type AC may not work well or trip when it should. Most of our electronics feed our electrical circuit with DC milliamps. RCCB type AC will only work well if it is dedicated to an appliance that has no electronics in it, eg regular water heater, electric kettle.

What is the difference between a type A and type AC RCBO or RCD?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5t3rhtyOpuY via @YouTube
Thanks for pointing this out.

No end to learning, I just assumed that AC stands for alternating current and that I should be good. I should have investigated further.

The only is this they don't have it in 63A variety in the 2 pole variety, but they have in the 4 pole variety.

Here is what I found.

I have got a lot of electronics, so this is gold.

Thanks again.

i have never called out any client here, i have done works for client, the last client i did an interior design even paid extra, he was sending in money in part without me asking. It's only fair i get paid as at when due, and if you have delays it's also fair the client informs me, this will be my last submission on this issue.
Please go back and pull down all those screenshots with the client's number.

Two wrongs don't make a right.

Plastering his number all over the internet and associating his number to his moniker has done damage that you cannot begin to quantify

before bringing it here, did i not ask him what the delay is? As a responsible person i believe he is, he is supposed to tell me, he left our WhatsApp chat and came here to say his builder delayed, why is he saying that now? Why? Something that was never part of our agreement, and i asked you not once, what is causing the delay.....
And to you, it is very much okay. No problem.
If you asked him about the delay, that was proper on your part.

If he refused to respond to your question about the delay, that was improper on his part.

If as you allege that you are hearing for the first time about the delay from the builder for the first time on the forum, then that is not right, he should have informed you in advance.

My dear don't make an issue of it was not in our agreement, it was because I went over and abroad to do things not included in our agreement that my company got inserted into a national budget. There are several others who will tell you that by going beyond the call of duty, doors that seemed impossible were opened.

Instead of making it seem like you are always ready to fight your clients, you could have used the opportunity of the delay to ask for additional funds as the cost of the delay to you. Have you not heard how big companies that work with the government are beneficiaries of contract variations - which inevitably means additional funds to play with?

I never said that the delay was OK, I am saying and many others have said that you have handled this matter in such a way that you have scored an own goal.

well done sir.. sometime the fear of past experience has made some of us service provider to be wary of payment delay and all... but to me the time frame look short.. oga Brick should have waited a little more... before bringing it here.
Assuming the worst....

Not giving the benefit of the doubt...

No one is saying payment should not be instant, but even if payment is not instant, even if you assume the worst, must you voice it out before you have proof beyond a shadow of a doubt that there is foul play?

In real life does everything work like clockwork all the time?

That is the issue here.

Like the client said his builder delayed.

Sympathy goes both ways, the vendor for the client and the client for the vendor.

Before throwing accusations, did the vendor ask the client why the delay?

The other issue here is that the vendor has expressly stated that he expects reviews to be completed in 24 hours.

In real life shit happens, things that should happen by a particular time may not happen by that time, do adults then start throwing tantrums and then expect repeat business from the place that they threw tantrums?

In real life, contracts are varied and can be varied.

Assuming without conceding that the client did not say review before final payment, if the client then says so now, the issue is not to throw tantrums, the issue is to ask for a variation of the contract that accounts for the delay in payment, that is the mature adult thing to do.

One of the rules of business is that people do business with people they like.

The other rule of business is that people continue to do business with people who continue to they feel make them feel good.

As far as I am aware, no one does business with people who disparage them directly or indirectly.

In one breath you asked me to consider you when future business comes up, and in another breath you said the above.

Needless to say, your later comment supercedes the former and there also goes the future business you were looking for from this end.

It is also about other potential opportunities you can get from people associated with the client. I have a guy who brought a job to me, pushed a very low quote that i took. Project is stalled and I am not paid. Then out of the blue the guy calls me and hooks me up to a far more lucrative client.

I guess you must be able to properly gauge the character of your client and plan accordingly.

However the truth is that initiating fights never ends well. Las Las you get your money but that door is closed forever.
I did training for one of Nigeria's agencies. One of the trainees loved what I did so much that he connected me to another top shot at another agency. I excelled again and then I was introduced to another agency and from there my company found its way into the national budget and my biggest deal ever.

Be very careful about burning bridges.

That is all I have to say, I have said too much already.

Of course it's good to treat each other (both customer and client) in the most respectable manner. It's worth noting that this case you described is just 1 out of 20.

Service providers see alot of "shege" with clients. And you just have to let it go or find redress.
I am a service provider.

I graduated from mainly providing services to individuals to providing services to corporate clients - governments (Federal and State) and corporate entities and international organizations.

Under no circumstances can one call any of those out for delay in payment and then get business from any other similar organization.

Under no circumstances can one disparage those officers handling your file and still expect business and new deals.

One of them even told me, we have a small circle, do nonsense to one, and you have done nonsense to all.

It is from that background that I speak.

I still have individuals as clients but I use the same rules to guide all my interactions

@Feg.eitok, kindly let me know in simple English why you bought the RCCB. What exactly is it suppose to do in your circuit and why in the first place?
Thanks for your contributions.
I had a circuit breaker that failed. The usual circuit breaker is black in color which most of us are familiar with, see my very first post today for pictures of how it looks.

When I wanted to replace it, I found out that the old type of circuit breaker (the black one) has been discontinued and that the recommended replacement circuit breaker is called an RCCB.

I also learned that an RCCB is the better technology.

I then learned that an RCCB can help protect humans from electric shock, electrocution, and fires.

On why you need a circuit breaker: You need a way to interrupt current flow if a fault is detected in your house's electrical circuit

So I fired up my browser once more and found the list of distributors and singled out one.

When I went there I found out that they did not have the Schneider in Abuja but in Lagos. It was going to take a while to get it, like 4 days. But that isn't the main issue that traumatized me. It was that they said that prices had been revised upwards and that I would be paying 39,000 as against the 26,000+ on the Schneider website.

Forloned, I left that distributor drove out of their premises and parked along the road, fired up my browser and intended to start calling the other distributors one by one until I found one who had it and whose price was as close to the manufacturer's price as possible.

Thankfully, the first distributor I spoke to had it in stock and was willing to sell it at 28,000.00. The difference between the manufacturer's price and the distributor's price was so minimal that I did not even bother to negotiate. I told him I was coming. I went there, paid him and took the RCCB home and installed it myself, and immediately had peace of mind as power was restored and I was sure, I did not buy a fake.

See pictures of the original packaging.

I really love the transparency of Schneider as far as pricing is concerned. I don't know if ABB and Havel are that transparent

When I went to Gudu Market to search for the A9R41263. I could not find it but was presented with EZ9R33263.

It was priced at N24,000.00.

It is noteworthy that this part number is not on the Schneider Nigeria website, although it can be found on the UK website.

Is it original or a high-quality fake? Or a grey market product?

I ask because the distributor from which I eventually got the A9R41263 was not able to find it in his product parts list.

Yes, I specifically asked him to tell me how much it costs.

Like I always do, I then consulted the datasheets for both part numbers and found something interesting.

For the EZ9R33263, the electrical endurance is up to 2000 cycles while the mechanical endurance is up to 5000 cycles.

Now compare that with the A9R41263, the electrical endurance is up to 15,000 cycles while the mechanical endurance is up to 20,000 cycles.

It was pretty clear to me which was the superior product and that spending 24,000 on a product whose origin is unknown when there is a product of 26 - 28, 000 whose original is known is not the proper thing to do.

I was also presented with ABB and Havell products, but since I didn't research those products in advance, I opted not to pursue that line of inquiry.

That was when I contacted Scheider again and said it would be hell to try to check each and every retailer of the product when it is only the names of the retailers and their numbers that are listed on their site and not their Shop numbers.

Then Schneider told me to speak to their distributors instead.

After determining what to buy I started looking for it on the Schneider website and decided to buy the A9R41263.

By going online first, and thanks to the Schneider website, I already had a fair idea of pricing before stepping out to make the purchase

I promised to share my experience replacing an ELCB with a RCCB.

For those who don't know what an ELCB is, please see the pictures attached.

By the way, ELCB means Earth Leakage Circuit Breaker while RCCB means Residual Current Circuit Breaker

Note that there were only 4 connections to my ELCB
1. Mains in Neutral
2. Mains in Live
3. Load out Neutral
4. Load out Live

There was no earth electrode-only connection and there was no connection to the installation metal framework.

Please take a second look at the electrical diagram in the pictures attached, there are supposed to be 6 connections

One of the reasons you are advised to package yourself before you meet with clients is wealthy clients do not like doing business with people who are overly aggressive with money.

A lot of clients have a plan to pay for their services, but the Buhari economy is also playing its part. I had a guy I was owing for two months because I had not been paid. The moment I got paid I paid him and he himself said I over paid him.

Some clients are bad and you should just chalk that to experience. But if you fight with the client most of the time na yourself you dey do.
If you give them a quote, just go and rest.

No need to do daily checking in, that deal you promised how far.

Even payment, submit an invoice and wait. No need to do daily checking in.

If you must check in, space it out, like reminding them nicely after 7 days or 14 days or 30 days, but daily reminders will send you faster than you can imagine to the blacklist.

Those guys are carrying a lot of responsibility.

They will get back to you.

I got to appreciate this truth when I got a deal valued so large that I found myself adopting the same approaches those I consider to be rich adopt in limiting access to them, and also dealing with those who pestered me for this or that, and only dealing with anyone when I have dealt with matters I considered to be more directly related to the execution of the high-value deal that I had just gotten.

In the light of the fracas in the last couple of hours, I wish to share a story.

I was introduced to a lady by a professional friend. The lady lived out of town. I had to travel quite a way to meet her, I did not drive, I took Uber there and back. We discussed and she agreed to deal. I told her she would bear the cost of my transportation to and fro, she agreed.

But she did not pay. Not that day, not the next week, the next month, or several months later.

I did not bother her, but I was extremely upset. I shared those thoughts with the Uber driver who took me back home. We all discussed how those rich people like to take advantage of those they feel are beneath them.

Yet every time she reached out, I was as polite as possible and never raised the issue of the transportation that never came.

However, just last month, this lady reached out and berated me for not reminding her about the transportation cost, asked for my account details, and then wired the money to me.

Then she explained that she was out of the country and just returned.

Then in the last few days contacted me again and said that she had decided to work with me since that meeting and then give me a new contract, and paid upfront.

Then promised to wire me even more funds next week.

She then made it clear, she will be hiring my services on a rolling basis for the foreseeable future.

I think it pays to take the long-term view in business and not the short-term view.

I am sure I have passed a message.

Here we go... Very apt point here... Again, I remember talking to you privately on the "power" of the 80ams mppt I got... It also has the algorithm power to Control my "non-smart" inverter as you have described... It's called Ashapower. With this, I can set some special parameters like panels over grid or otherwise, I can shutdown grid completely, I can set parameters for float, agitate, equalize etc becos the supply of grid to the inverter is connected via the mppt... I have shared the data sheet somewhere behind... To be honest, this CC is as great as those high end inverters...

Thanks you for always coming through with what's obtainable on other inverters.. Just wondering how much trials u have done with all these big names... 😂

Provided that solar panels are connected.

My puny inverter will prioritize solar over grid.

The issue is that the inverter has a PWM charge controller and I know that an MPPT is better.

So that is certainly an option if you don't mind the low yields of PWM charge controller.
