Audi A4 uses 10,000.00 fuel to Ugep and 2,000.00 from Ugep to Calabar - from a friend Sienna 2004 - 2006 uses 11,000.00 fuel to Ugep and 2,000 from Ugep to Calabar (has VVT- personal experience, if you speed too much, be ready to spend up to 15,000.00) Mazda MPV 2000 uses 10,000 fuel to Abakaliki and 4,000 from Abakaliki to Calabar (if you speed too much, be ready to spend up to 18,000.00 no VVT) Fuel consumption influenced by factors such as speed, how often you have to slow down and pick up speed (from bad roads) and the load carried Which vehicle is this? |
LeJeun3:Even after accounting for that I don't spend more than an average of N6,000.00 per month |
Car Model:............Mazda MPV 2000 2.5L V6 LX Service interval:....15,000 miles once or twice I have extended it to 18,000 miles Engine oil used:.....Mobil 1 5w30 Extended Performance Synthetic Motor Oil-1 Quart (Pack of 6) @ $60 excluding shipping and clearing Quantity:..............6L Cost of oil filter:....$10 excluding shipping and clearing Type of Oil Filter:..Bosch D3410 DistancePlus High Performance Oil Filter ADDITIONAL COMMENTS: In effect I change my oil in about a year or a year and a half, and I have followed this procedure for several years. In the last two years, I do the change myself, in previous years, I depended on external professional help. I have in effect ignored Manufacturer Service Recommendations with respect to mileage and time, but so far no issues. I race the vehicle and travel a lot so I don't joke with the oil At $1= N400, $70 dollars equals N28,000.00 divided by 12, so excluding shipping and clearing, I spend a little over N2,300.00 per month on oil and oil filter |
Can a full fuel tank of a Toyota Sienna 2004 - 2010 take it from Lagos to Abuja? If no, how much did you have to top it up to take you there? Tank capacity of a Toyota Sienna 2003 - 2010 is 20.9 US Gallons (79.11511 Liters ) @ N145 That's N11,600.00 A transporter said that he spends N18,000.00 on fuel per trip, that is 124Liters is that normal? 440 miles is = 708.11136 kilometers Lagos is about 750km or 466miles What's the DTE (Distance to Empty) aka FTC (Fuel Tank Capacity) of your ride? According to siennachat forum: When I take a long trip (seems like all the time) and need to make it nonstop I fill up to the cap. An hour to an hour and half later the fuel gauge will move off Full. This guarantees a 440 mile range for the tank at 85-90mph. DTE will read 0 and fuel fill will be 19.7 gallons. average fuel economy 18.7 mpg (display) with 93 octane fuel on these runs. 2 full coolers on hitch mounted cargo carrier, 2 adults, 4 big volleyball players with all their luggage. Thanks nurey for the correction from 2003 to 2004 |

So don't leave at 4am, leave at 5am or 5.30am so that by the time you get there, there should be enough sunlight to make you see don't play with potholes, potholes and high speeds have made many a man sorry, and their pockets lighter its your first such trip, it will take you 12 hours, unless you do 160km or more when the roads are good, then you can shorten it to between 9 and 10 hours, problem is, you don't know the road! Tip: from River Niger Bridge to Abuja is almost 200 miles and the road is pretty good Ensure your custom papers are perfect - because of the kind of car, I expect them to pick an interest in you Drive defensively Keep your cool Get a good night's rest Everyone recommends this route : Lagos-> Ibadan -> Ife-> Akure-> Ibilo-> Okene-> Lokoja-> Abuja , that's what commercial drivers use but I have taken the alternate route which google map would show if you consulted it, left Abuja 8.30am and got to Lagos by 4.30pm, the key difference between both routes is long straights versus lots more twists and turns, but given how bad the Lokoja-Okene road is, am not recommending it to you! So am saying, take the recommended route! Your vehicle is fuel efficient but Nigerian highways were not built for achieving high MPGs, they are just a little better than driving in the town as far as MPG is concerned, so I second the comment to budget 20,000 for fuel if you want vetted riding companions, then sign up on the GoMyWay platform and you could get vetted passengers whose identification has been scrutinized, same way as you will be before being allowed to offer rides on their platform, that could reduce how much you end up spending on fuel! All the best - anytime I want to travel, I drive. But I always ensure the car is in top shape. And that I am very well rested so I can give it my best. I think you should take along an extra tire (apart from the official spare), cause you never know, just in case, you will save a lot of time changing a bad tire on the spot than having to go buy tires if you had issues on the road, not to talk about the outrageous costs of buying on the road Keep a decent gap between you and trailers, trucks or lorries You will meet people who have mastered the art of driving at 260km/hr, if you haven't done it before, don't try to do it on a route you are barely familiar with Distracted driving and Nigerian highways are a big no no! |
Mine, an auto electrician just stole my brainbox and has become incommunicado. I have used this guy for three years, I have given him to car to take way to fix and return on several occasions and I have given him countless referrals. Woe betide the day I set my eyes on him! He will produce the money I have spent to procure a new one! If he did, what did you do to him when you found out? WHY THIS POST? Ensure you know your technicians real name and not just nickname where he comes from where he stays and very importantly, try and good a very good picture of him. Cause you never know when you will need it! FINALLY if you cannot afford to lose it, don't give it to him! |
Have you got this one?

It takes a special kind of motivation to purchase a retired armored limousine and the latest occasion to grab such a vehicle involves one of Vladimir Putin's former cars, namely a 1994 Mercedes-Benz S-Class Pullman Guard. Interestingly, the W140 Benz showed up for grabs on German website mobile, with the mix between the engineering assets of the car and is VIP aura leading to a whopping price of EUR1.3 million (make that $1.35 million). The lavish machine, which is animated by a 394 PS 6.0-liter V12 (keep in mind that we're dealing with a natural aspiration era output), has 25,000 km (15,500 miles) on its odo. Given the nature of the car, this is a respectable mileage. Even so, we're talking about an odometer value that, at least in theory, should allow the Pullman to stay in good condition. The German limousine is offered by a private seller, Sergei Urov, who is ready to show you the Mercedes-Benz, obviously over in Moscow. Meanwhile, you can zoom in on what we'll label as an uber-privacy mobile in the image gallery to your right, with the pics allowing us to see plenty of the six-seater's details, down to the VIN. One of the thoughts that simply can't be avoided when purchasing such a contraption is the weight of the stories the vehicle has been involved in. The most recent tale of the sort took place back in September, when Vladimir Putin's favorite chauffeur reportedly lost his life in a head-on crash that took place on the road's of Russia's capital city. It's worth noting that Russia's leader was not aboard the BMW when the crash took place, as he was attending the G20 summit in China. The accident involved the President's BMW 7 Series and those of you who missed the story can check it out here https://www.nairaland.com/3543802/accidents-kill-even-most-experienced , crash footage included. http://www.autoevolution.com/news/vladimir-putin-s-mercedes-s600-pullman-guard-shows-up-for-sale-on-german-website-114119.html

September 6, 2016 Vladimir Putin's Favorite Chauffeur Dies In Moscow After Head-On Crash Vladimir Putin's official BMW 7 Series, a vehicle which Russia’s President uses while he is in The Motherland, was totaled in Moscow following a high-speed crash. The current President of Russia was not onboard, as he was attending the G20 Summit in China. However, his favorite chauffeur, a man whose name was not given to the press, died in the impact. The black BMW 7 Series was driving on the Kutuzovsky Avenue in Russia’s capital city, Moscow, when a Mercedes-Benz CLS struck it. As you can witness in the video below, the CLS was traveling at a high rate of speed, and had already lost control when it collided with the BMW 7 Series driven by the chauffeur with over 40 years of experience behind the wheel. The impact area was on the driver’s side of the German limousine, and Russian media reports that the sole occupant, the chauffeur, was killed instantly. As The Daily Mail reports, there is no news regarding the driver of the Mercedes-Benz CLS. The same publication confirms that the 7 Series is registered to the Federation Council, which is Russia’s equivalent of Senate. The Kutuzovsky Avenue was subjected to a massive traffic jam, as the cleanup operation took multiple hours, and the Boulevard was closed immediately after the accident. The avenue in question is a major one in Moscow, and has eight lanes in total, four for each direction of travel. This accident goes to show that not even the most experienced drivers are totally safe from crashes, and serves as an example for those that believe that the seatbelt is not necessary at the speeds usually employed in the city. Unfortunately, impacts as violent as these are hard to survive for any human being, no matter how safe their cars are. Russia’s roads are no strangers to violent accidents, and this one shows the world that it could happen to anyone, no matter how powerful or experienced they were. Be sure to remind your acquaintances of that fact the next time they mention speeding in one of their stories. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/video/news/video-1326946/Head-crash-kills-President-Putin-s-favourite-official-driver.html

One lower control arm needs to be replaced! Lost three days so far putting things back in shape. I would rather take 3 hours from Calabar to Ugep than three days fixing pothole damage. Yea I made it to Ugep in two hours but broke the car in the process. |
So my oil pan had a crack that ran from the side closest to the driver/passenger cabin down the side up to about 20mm on its bottom, but it was only leaking by the side and not the bottom! Pictures later I was very fortunate, how fortunate time will tell |
Thelonius:I was goin downhill, the road was good or so it seemed So I tried to make up for lost time by speeding up only to be greeted by this pothole that was not so visible from afar pothole But I never left my steering for one second I held it straight while the vehicle was shooting for the nearby house, when I was sure it was on the ground and I knew where it was headed, I made two or three steering inputs/corrections and got back on the road I believe I survived because I was fortunate first and foremost Second, I had broken away from the pack of vehicles behind Third, they were no vehicles coming in front Fourth, I made no panic-induced steering adjustments that would upset the vehicle or attempted to defy the laws of physics Fifth, I never gave up control of the steering at any time Sixth, my suspension was in order I know that if I had stopped, I would have been congratulated also. My fellow travelers were shocked at the control I exerted over the incident. I love your closing words: never give up control of the car - you drive it till the end even if the end is a fantastic blaze of fire and twisted metal. |
connkg:Because the vehicle appeared to have survived the impact, didn't switch off, nothing changed at the time or so it seemed I was still dazed it is an experience that must not happen twice! God saved me that the bush by the road had no trees, that they were no individuals at the time, and that no house was built quiet close to the road I was actually scared that I had destroyed the control arms or any part of the steering mechanism |
Have you survived a pothole incident? I just did, the kind of stuff you see in movies happened to me in real life today! So on my way back to Abuja today, I ran into one of the numerous potholes between Calabar and Ugep and the car literally jumped off the road Got into the bush drove for a while there a boy and a girl saw what was coming and ran for their dear lives seconds later the vehicle jumped back on the road I continued my journey as if nothing happened I then noticed though that the alignment was terribly off By the time I got to itigidi, I noticed that left rear tire had a puncture By the time I got to Enugu to try to do the alignment, I noticed I had cracked the oil pan but that it would not leak if the vehicle was on it would only leak if it was off I topped up the oil I bought like 5 litres of oil extra and used it all by the time I got to Abuja the engine oil warning light never came on but temperatures would rise in hold ups, never reaching the max though and fall as soon as I got moving again I also noticed a new crack in the windshield Has anyone been this fortunate? Share your story! Or where you unfortunate? By the way, did you know that low oil level can cause overheat? Low oil level: A vehicle that’s low on oil tends to overheat because the oil removes from 75 to 80 percent of the “waste heat” in your engine (in addition to doing its other job of cushioning the moving engine parts). If you’re one quart low in oil and your vehicle holds five quarts, the oil will carry away 20 percent less heat than it should. source: http://www.dummies.com/home-garden/car-repair/heating-cooling-system/how-to-troubleshoot-an-overheating-engine/ |
