lalasticlala: http://thenationonlineng.net/new/update-enugu-speaker-impeached/ Very sad indeed! It is our fault as Nigerians, cos we only focus on Presidential, forgetting that the governors, senators, representatives, assembly members, and councillors are also important players in governance, and are critical to national development and progress... When we realize that is when the real change will come to stay in Nigeria... |

Nigeria is our country, so we must learn to live with and love one another, no matter our tribe, religion or social class... Every tribe has their good and bad eggs, but at the end of the day, we are all Nigerians... We cannot progress without one another...

Politics › Re: Ministerial List: APC Governors Submit Names by Fellonigerians: 9:48am On May 05, 2015 |
unikazzy: ABUJA – Submission of names for ministerial slots in the incoming government has begun in earnest, Vanguard learnt on Monday.
The process, it was learnt, followed a directive by the president-elect, General Mohammadu Buhari to the governors on the platform of All Progressives Congress, APC to forward the names of candidates. Three names from each states are to be submitted. Already, a governor in the south east last week told the stakeholders in the zone to immediately comply. But Buhari also stated two conditions which he advised the governors to adhere to in submission of the ministerial the appointment.
One of the conditions was that the candidates must be technically competent and of proven integrity. The second reason is that the persons must also show loyalty to the party.
By this, a source said that Buhari indirectly laid emphasis on the need to field the names of the founding members of the party and not defectors from other political parties.
The President-Elect, it was gathered also told the governors that he however reserved the right to chose from among the three names that are likely to be submitted from each governor.
Vanguard also gathered that Buhari may not likely run a bloated cabinet where the status quo is 42 Ministers.
A source who craved anonymity told Vanguard that Gen Buhari may also eliminate the Ministers of State position as he had said he would reduce the cost of governance. Details later.
http://www.vanguardngr.com/2015/05/ministerial-list-apc-governors-submit-names/ Unfortunately for him, the Constitution requires him to appoint ministers representing each state... So the least he can have is 36... But, instead of having senior and junior ministers, he can assign, for example, the foreign ministers to different continents (North & South America, Africa & Middle East, Europe, Asia & Oceania, etc)... |

splashbaby: Let me educate you small... Your head get small oil... No be all those dull flat head wey I dey meet always.
The violent against the Igbos up north before the civil war didn't start because Igbos were peacefully living there...
It all started when Aguyi Ironsi and his fellow greedy Igbo men took over power killing many of the northern leaders like Tafawa Balewa and Ahmadu Bello...The Igbos up north in their usual lousy wreckless manner took to the street dancing and jubilating all night to the consternation of their Hausa host...it didn't take long before a counter coup was staged that took the lives of many Igbo leaders in the army including Ironsi and his host Fajuyi... A Yoruba man that prefer to die with Ironsi...
The Hausas didn't forget or forgive the Igbos for celebrating the killings of their leaders in their home land hence used the opportunity to unleash a kind of terror never before experienced in the history of the country on any Igbo man they can lay their hands on.
Thousands of body bags of Igbos arrived the east in quick succession, this led to serious agitation that gave birth to the stupid dream of a Biafra state led by a coward called ojokwu.
Did Igbos learn anything from the civil war? I don't think so... The Igbos have instead shown many ethnic sentiment in every thing they more than any other tribes in Nigeria.. Reasons Hausas and Yorubas don't like them.
1. They are still keen about the Biafra project. Living in two countries at once is the peak of confusion afecting the the Igbo nation. Many see them as group of unfaithful citizen working against the prosperity of the Nigerian nation to actualize their dream.
2. Wherever they do business they usually wants to dorminate their host. They want minister of FCT in Abuja because they claim to have 70%business in the FCT. They claim lagos was no mans land because the Yorubas showed them love...
3. They have strong penchant for rewarding failure (supporting Stella Oduah, and GEJ) Part of the problem in Nigeria is that we write our history books ourselves, meaning that we have 190million versions of Nigeria's history. Please try and read one of the many books written by unbiased people who saw events unfolding first-hand before and during the war. I dont blame you, rather I blame the education system in Nigeria that should educate us on the accurate stories of our past. In the meantime, desist to assign actions of a few to a whole tribe, because the same can be done to your own tribe... |

cc:lalasticla Ebonyi is a deadend, so noone goes there if they are not going there. Ebonyi has potentials such as Nkalagu Cement, and Abakiliki Rice which can attract enough IGR to the state... All they need is development in infrastructure, and a Governor that wants to serve the people, and develop the state... Also, building a bridge across Ndibe beach to Cross River will also increase the number of cars moving through Ebonyi, which also assist development... |

Politics › Re: Nigerians Affected By Xenophobic Attacks Will Be Compensated - Obanikoro by Fellonigerians: 9:30am On Apr 22, 2015 |
ozoigbondu: Nigeria’s Minister of State for Foreign Affairs II, Senator Musiliu Obanikoro, is hopeful that citizens affected by the xenophobic attacks in South Africa will be compensated. Since the renewed attacks started last week, several Nigerians have lost their businesses and other belongings to fire set by locals on buildings where their businesses were housed. Senator Obanikoro in an interview with Channels TV, said that Nigerian High Commissioner, Martin Cobham and other delegations were taking stock of damages done to Nigerians to ensure that adequate compensation would be given to them.
“We have situations where some of our people lost their shops in this attack.
“We are taking stock of the damages done to them and we are going to be engaging the South African Government,” senator Obanikoro said.
He stated that the South African government had been exploring different avenues to end the attacks that have claimed several lives in KwaZulu-Natal province.
“One of the major stakeholders who incited the South African community has called for a meeting this morning where some representatives of the affected countries would be addressed.
“Some traditional rulers will be there to see how they can douse the situation and ensure the safety of Nigerians and other nationals in South Africa. “This is a very shameful situation and it has attracted a lot of international outcry.
“I think the leaders have seen the need to ensure that the xenophobic attacks do not escalate. “The attitude is now more promising and within the next few days we should be able to put this behind us.
“We are working on how best we can get a lasting solution to the problem,” the Nigerian Minister said.
http://www.vanguardngr.com/2015/04/nigerians-affected-by-xenophobic-attacks-will-be-compensated-obanikoro/ How? With which money? From the allocation for which ministry? Who will do the valuing? How much for the consultants? Will you also compensate those displaced by BH, flood, erosion, etc. I feel bad for those that have lost something in SA, but let us not make promises like this that we dont know how to implement. Protecting them, giving them refuge in SA, and then transporting them safely to Nigeria is enough. |
