Freest: It happened this morning oh, was bathing and prepping for work when i heard my dad at the top of his voice, before i knew it i heard mumsy crying, he had slapped her. Am in the same house( Haven't been able to move out yet) and i couldn't just bear my mum crying so i went to my dad to tell him what he did was not right. He is almost 60 and so is his wife, at that age you slap your wife i was trying to use the voice of reason as i was angry but kept my calm (Who wouldn't be angry seeing his/her mum cry?) before i could finish explaining and appealing to him i received from his left hand of righteousness a resounding slap... it got me confused as i didn't know what i did to deserve such. I didn't say anything harsh nor abusive. Am angry but didn't wanna return that slap nor say words I'll regret. I told him I'm moving out and he just lost a son, he replied that i wont be missed. I wanna do something he'll never forget, before i leave, please i need advice as it dented my personality even amongst my younger siblings and neighbors. I really am confused on what to do before moving out. Am so pissed now pls sincere advice. thanks The fact that you didnt respond actually boosted your personality amongst your younger siblings and neighbors... Still according him respect because he is your father... Dont be surprised, he probably respects you even more now... You can move out, but dont be pressured to do so, and worsen your life... Politics › Re: Jonathan Holds Secret Meeting With Atiku - Saharareporters by Fellonigerians: 2:11pm On Mar 17, 2015 |
falconey: President Goodluck Jonathan paid a secret visit to former Vice President Abubakar Atiku on Friday night to hold a meeting that lasted till the early hours of Saturday. Sources at the Presidency told SaharaReporters that Mr. Jonathan went to Mr. Atiku’s home with the aim of persuading the former VP to lead a so called interim government of national unity that the president has been covertly attempting to sell to numerous political figures in recent weeks. One source said Mr. Jonathan and some hawkish members of his inner circle, including Petroleum Minister Diezani Alison-Madueke, First Lady Patience Jonathan, Governors Olusegun Mimiko and Ayo Fayose of Ondo and Ekiti respectively, as well as senior presidential aide Doyin Okupe, have decided that handing over power to Muhammadu Buhari “is out of the question.” Several electoral monitoring groups are projecting that Mr. Buhari, a retired army general and the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), is the odds-on favorite to win the March 28 presidential election. When SaharaReporters reached Mr. Atiku, he expressed surprise that we knew about his meeting with President Jonathan. He asserted that the idea of his heading an interim government did not come up during the long discussion with the president. Mr. Atiku said he had retired to bed when he was woken up and told that President Jonathan had come to see him, adding that the president was already waiting in his living room. After denying that he was asked to head an interim government, the former vice president admitted that Mr. Jonathan tried to prevail on him to rejoin the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). He disclosed that he rejected the invitation outright. According to Mr. Atiku, the president also discussed the ongoing war against Boko Haram insurgents, asking for support for Nigerian troops fighting in the area. He said they also discussed the possibility of displaced Nigerians returning to the areas that have been recaptured from Boko Haram. Asked by our reporter whether he thought President Jonathan was interested in allowing elections to hold on March 28, the former vice president hesitated before stating that he would not wish to speculate, but he said the president’s body language did not reveal that he was interested in the polls that are scheduled to hold in two weeks. The secret meeting between Mr. Jonathan and former VP Atiku has caused unease among some APC stalwarts. A few hours after the meeting, a faction of Mr. Atiku’s original political organization, the Peoples Democratic Movement (PDM), announced their endorsement of President Jonathan. In his telephone interview with SaharaReporters, Mr. Atiku disclosed that he was opposed to the formation of an interim government. He stated that when former military dictator, Ibrahim Babangida, set up an interim national government in 1993, the dictator offered him a position in the government through the late General Shehu Yar’Adua (ret.). He said he rejected the position, adding that it was eventually given to a Lagos politician Dapo Sarumi. Asked further about the substance of his conversation with Mr. Jonathan, the former vice president said advised the president to ensure that the elections were free and fair and devoid of the bloodshed that trailed the 2011 general elections.

Politics › Re: Interim Govt: APC Has Evidence Against Jonathan, Says Fayemi by Fellonigerians: 6:43pm On Mar 16, 2015 |
midolian: Ex-Governor of Ekiti State, Dr Kayode Fayemi, has said the All Progressives Congress has strong evidence against President Goodluck Jonathan on his alleged plot to foist an interim government on Nigeria.
He said the allegation made by the national leader of APC, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, that his life was being threatened confirmed the desperation of the Peoples Democratic Party-led Federal Government and Jonathan.
Fayemi, who said these in Aramoko Ekiti on Saturday during the 40-day Fidau for the late Pa Jejelola Akingbolu and Mrs Raliat Akingbolu, also lambasted Governor Ayodele Fayose for allegedly lying against the APC Presidential Candidate, Maj. Gen. Muhamadu Buhari (retd.), over his health status.
“We have heard somebody whose own definition of politics is about lying, saying Gen Buhari was taken to a hospital in London. Buhari never went to hospital throughout the 10 days he was in London because I was with him throughout.
“Fayose even used his mother as an example of how people who are old used to behave just because he wanted to drive home a point that Gen Buhari was sick. This is like disgracing his own mother in the public and it is against the value Ekiti is known for.”
The ex-governor said Jonathan could not deny that he invited Tinubu to be part of the planned Interim Government, saying the APC leader made the allegation in good faith and not to discredit the president or heat up the polity.
“President Jonathan is becoming desperate by the day and he would stop at nothing to return to government. You know what they did in Ekiti. So, there was nothing Tinubu said that was not verifiable.
"I have evidence that he was invited to be part of Interim Government as a way of dividing us as a prominent member of our party. There is absolutely nothing they cannot do to distract us because they could see that Presidency is gradually slipping off their hands.
“It was good that these alarms were being raised and put in the front burner that there was a sinister intention to subvert the will of the people.
“What Nigerians are looking for now is for the elections to be held on March 28 as scheduled by INEC and for the victor who was overwhelmingly elected by the popular votes to be announced.
"We as party leaders and members of opposition are ready to congratulate the winner, but if they go ahead and subvert the will of the people, they will surely go to jail,” he declared.
Fayemi assured that Buhari will keep to his promise not to dig into the financial corruption perpetrated in the past under Jonathan if that was what members of the ruling party were afraid of.
“Major Gen Muhammadu Buhari said he won’t look into the past. He said he will draw the line on the very day he took over and I don’t know why President Jonathan , who has the paraphernalia of office is afraid of election.
“There was nothing the PDP , even as a ruling party has not done to ensure that these elections are not held. We have heard about the sowing of fake Army uniform, we have heard about how they want to use the Army to rig the election, we have seen attempt to sack Prof. Attahiru Jega, we have heard about how they have been preaching about religion, talking about the health of Gen. Buhari and the way they had been canvassing for postponement of elections and non-usage of card readers. The big question still remains, why are they afraid of election?”
Fayemi declared that the government of Jonathan would be held responsible, if anything bad happened to Tinubu.
“If Jonathan loses this election, he can still get whatever he wants. It is a matter of negotiation with Buhari, who had promised not to probe the past governments.
“But I want to say that we will hold Jonathan’s government responsible, if even the minutest thing happens to Tinubu,” he concluded.

Family › Re: Opinion: Choose Who You Want Between Me And Your Mother- Very Silly Question by Fellonigerians: 5:04pm On Mar 16, 2015 |
greatgod2012: Good day my fellow forumites. It's been a while opening thread on this forum. Happy sunday to us all.
This thread was borne out of a quarrel between a couple i tried to settle two days ago. A colleague of mine approached me for advice on what is happening in her marriage, and at the end of narrating her ordeal, i pointed her fault to her as being the architech of her problems. I deduced that the bone of contention is that each time there is disagreement, he would ask her husband to choose between her and and his mother, and as it is expected, the man would choose his mother, and yawa go gas!
Please, my fellow women and wives (though some men are guilty of this too, but it's more rampant with women), let's stop this nonsense, let's stop asking silly questions, if there is an issue between you and your spouse, communicate with maturity, without raising voice, without setiments and without blackmail and most importantly, without silly questions such as, "then, you will have to choose between me and your mother" it's childish, silly, disrespectful and out of security and envy. Let me tell us, no sane man will choose his wife over his mother, because the wife was not there when his mother conceived him, gave birth to him, breasfed him, trained him, have so many sleepless nighs because of him, sent him to school to become who he is now for you to see, admire and marry. No wife was there when the mother was washing the man's dirty clothes, even using bare hands to wash faeces with which he soiled himself, when the mother spent days in hospital when sick to make sure the man is in good health and shape. No wife was there when the mother wakes in the middle of the night to talk and advise his son on ways of life, on how to be a good child to her parents, a good person in the society, a good employee to his employer, a good employer to his employees, a good father to his children and a good husband to his wife. Now, it's the mother that the wife is now waging war against. Nooooo wayyyyyy. Honestly, i don't know reason why there is usually rancour between DILs and MILs, if for anything, these old women deserves our respect, appreciation and to be made happy, at least for making these our husbands marriageable, abi, if they were not born, can we get married to them.
So, my fellow women, if you don't want to sadden yourself, stop asking your men to choose between you and his mother, because he would definately choose his mother. And for those who usually say, "then let him take his mother to bed", abeg, everything is not only about bed in marriage. For those who will say, "then let his mother prepare him food, remember, he has been eating his mother's food before meeting and marrying you. For those who will say, "then, let his mother bare him children", remember, the children are not only his, they're yours as well.
Let all DILs remember that they are also potential MILs and that whatever they sow as a DIL, they will reap them when they also become MIL. Let us cultivate the habit of loving our MILs, appreciate them and stop unnecessary rivalry with them. Many of them are becoming old already, so, we need to remember that old age usually make someone to be eccentric. So, let' treat them as if they are our mother, which i believe they are. Atleast, someone who is old enough to be our spouse' mother is also fit to be our mother. As for me, i have the most wonderful MIL in the whole world. I cherish her, adore her, love her greatly and i get the best of her, even my husband and his siblings do jealous of me.
Anytime there's a cause for all of us, me, hubby and mama, to be in a car, i open the front door for mama myself to sit, this singular act, i have been criticised of so many times, but, is it not for just one or few days, and i see that she usually love it each time i do that. She rains blessings on me as if there is no other day. I pamper her(but truth be said, she pampers me more). See, my fellow women, this is a secret, if you want the best from your man, love his mother and you will never regret doing so. God bless us all. For those who will condemn this, i think i'm no longer a novice in marriage. This is my 10th year of marriage, and it's just like yesterday, we're just starting anyway, and everyday of our marriage has always been better than the previous day.
This also goes to the men who usually asks their wives to choose between them and their mothers.
P. S DIL....daughter-in-law. MIL....mother-in-law.
God bless us all. Sometimes this happens when the man misses an opportunity to handle it. Dont get me wrong there are bad mouthed wives, but it behoves on the man to see the build-up in the friction between his mother and wife, and that is when he can handle the situation. The man should remember he is the nexus between both people, and that friction will occur when there are more than one woman in a home. Thus he must be observant and handle any potential conflict when it raises its head. |

Politics › Re: My Encounter With Captain Buhari by Fellonigerians: 4:02pm On Mar 16, 2015 |
kahal29: The Nigerian Civil War ended on January 15, 1970. Naturally, Nigerian soldiers occupied every part of Igbo land and used school premises as their make-shift barracks. Less malnourished young men were suspected to be defunct Biafran soldiers and some ladies suffered at the hands of the rampaging soldiers.
My village, Umueleke, in Ehime Mbano of Imo State, was one of the communities occupied by the Nigerian soldiers with their natural provocative utterances. The village shares a common boundary with Mbaise in Imo State, where we assumed to be the operational headquarters of the Nigerian soldiers within our area during that period.
On a certain day in March 1970, one of our brothers that fled Lagos to Biafra with his new car, but could not use same during the war for fear of being confiscated by Biafran Soldiers, perfectly concealed same throughout the period of the Civil War. He brought out the car in March of the same year and drove same to our market square where the soldiers were stationed.
Unfortunately, the soldiers harassed him out of the car and confiscated same, luckily for him there was a divine intervention as the crowd of onlookers saw a convoy coming from the Mbaise axis of our community and suddenly a young and slim officer alighted from the military jeep. He enquired why the crowd gathered and why the man was weeping; the man informed him of how the soldiers had beaten him up and confiscated his car.
The slim officer was a captain with his name-tag Buhari. The officer reminded the people that the war had ended and such thing should not happen. He quickly ordered for the release of the car and also reprimanded the soldiers and as a result, our community enjoyed the usual freedom.
When he became the Head of State, I discovered from his facial appearance that it was the same Buhari that showed human concern to our brother.
But since Buhari indicated interest in ruling the country once again, I have read many commentaries on the pages of newspapers and electronic media that are very uncomplimentary about his life and I wonder whether it is the same Buhari I met in 1970 who was full of passion for people.
However, from my encounter with GMB then, I came to the conclusion that he is not only humane, but a stickler for justice as demonstrated by his insistence that my brother’s car is returned immediately and which the soldiers did. That he ordered that the car be returned and the soldiers involved in such act be detained for stepping beyond their bounds depicted Buhari as a compassionate man and a disciplinarian who abhors maltreating innocent civilians. After all, Buhari could have joined forces with his men to confiscate the car, but he did not because he believed that the war had ended and people should be set free form bondage and discrimination. But he said “mbanau ooo!”
Of course, the lessons learnt from the above are: that a leader must stand for justice at all times; that a leader must take a decision when necessary; that a leader must instil discipline in his lieutenants; that not all Northern soldiers were wicked after the war and that GMB is misrepresented by many Nigerians who see him as evil and tribalistic.
Indeed, from the lessons, one can deduce that GMB is far better than our South-South brothers who confiscated our property immediately after the war and nicknamed it ‘abondoned property’ particularly in Rivers and Bayelsa. Many Igbos died while in pursuit of their legitimate rights over their property. My family members were victims and I nearly lost my life.. Again, I think some Igbos are still at war with Buhari, 45 years after the war ended. So, if by divine act, Buhari wins, what will be the fate of Igbos.?
.Barrister Onyebueke is the former Vice-Chairman,
http://sunnewsonline.com/new/?p=109383 Please stop generalizing about our "south-south brothers"... Some of them allowed many Igbos to take back their properties... |
