Revealpanda: I know absolutely nothing about cars and wanted to get my first car... I always loved 2013-15 Honda accord.... All my hope was on a friend who's been in car business for about 5 years now and knows his way around.
I went to where he is and we looked for a direct Belgium car, he did all the necessary test and assured me it was a good car... The person we were getting is from is also his business network of friends.
I made the whole payment without doing any test of my own because I know nothing.... We did drive test and everything and the car was okay.
On getting to my state I just decided to Google the Cars VIN number, I saw it online where it was in USA, turns out it seemed the car was used for Taxi in USA... While other than the headlight which was damaged in the VIN page it has no issue.
My concern now is the mileage... It has more than 200kmiles on it already... And via my small research such cars are bound to fail anytime.
I paid 13m for 2015 honda accord not to talk of transportation to my state which is 600-900km away from Lagos which te driver is saying he will take 700k to drive it to my state, not to talk of commission I paid my guy
My question now is was I scammed?
I've been depressed since last week
lol
Indeed you don't know anything about car
A car is as good as its last servicing not milage
For a car of over 10yrs old, you should be worried if the milage is less than 100k miles
You should focus on engine sound and regular maintenance not milage
DesertFather: Is that keke driver making more per trip than the uber/bolt/indrive driver?
Mathematicians in the house… Oya carry biro
I entered keke from Berger to Akute the other day. ₦400 per head, four passengers. I brought out my phone and started calculating. By the time we reached the first stop I began to question life choices.
The keke — Berger to Akute, 4.6km
Worst case: no stops, park ticket don swallow one seat, net fare = ₦1,200 Best case: two stops, extra pickups after ticket, net fare = ₦1,600
Fuel. Keke does about 22km per litre. For 4.6km: 4.6 ÷ 22 × ₦1,310 = ₦274
Okay. ₦186 to ₦273 per kilometre. Keep that range in your head. This is for the KEKE
Now my actual Bolt trip — Magodo Phase 1 to Denro, 7km
This happened. Fare was ₦3,500. AC was on because Lagos and because the passenger will review you.
Fuel. Corolla does 11km/L normally. AC drops that to about 9.35km/L in Lagos traffic. For 7km: 7 ÷ 9.35 × ₦1,310 = ₦981
Now look at this table.
Your Bolt trip sits right in the middle of the keke range.
A fully loaded keke on a good run — where passengers enter and enter and enter — is beating you. A half-empty keke is behind you. The entire difference between you and that keke driver is **two passengers.**
He doesn't have Bolt's 25%. He doesn't have your fuel efficiency problem. He has no AC to run. What he has is a park ticket, an agbero, and the mercy of God that his seats stay full.
What you have is a ₦3,500 fare that looks fine on the Bolt app until you carry biro.
And we haven't even talked about hire purchase yet. Whatever you pay daily to own that Corolla — ₦20k, ₦35k, ₦50k — that number leaves your pocket before you make a single kobo for yourself. Keke man has no HP(hire-purchase). Or maybe he does. That makes the stress for two.
I'm not saying sell your car. I'm saying many of us on these apps are looking at gross earnings and feeling okay without ever knowing our real number per kilometre after everything has gone.
The keke driver doesn't have an app showing him encouraging statistics. He just counts what enters his hand at the end of the day.
what does your actual per kilometre look like after fuel, platform cut, maintenance and HP? Drop your numbers — let's calculate together.
Your calculation didn't put traffic into concederation....traffic eats into their time n fuel
Angie30: Hello, I want to get a 7 weeks puppy but the owner says he hasn’t been vaccinated. When I googled it says dogs should be given their first vaccine against parvo by 6 weeks. I once had a dog that was down with parvo and I know how much it cost to cure the dog plus the pain he went through, so I just want to know if getting this dog and vaccinating at 7 weeks is risky.
7 weeks is not too late...dogs have their natural immune system too
Please I need the car gurus, and actual owners on this forum to advise me before I make a major financial move.
With the way the economy is going, buying a 2018+ Tokunbo car right now is looking like a luxury apartment investment. Because of this, I've been doing some serious calculations. My budget is pulling me toward two completely different directions, and I want to see what makes the most sense for a daily Lagos commute.
On one hand, I’m looking at a clean Tokunbo 2014 Honda Accord. We all know the Accord is a sweet ride— comfortable, nice interior, excellent handling, and that 2.4L i-VTEC engine is quite reliable.
On the other hand, my eyes have been firmly fixed on the Changan brand—brand new or very clean used one from China. Visually, these Changan cars are breathtaking. The interior looks like a full stack tech hub with the screens, 360-degree cameras, and panoramic roof. Plus, Mikano backing them with a warranty sounds like peace of mind when getting a brand new one.
Although, I heard mikano won't offer support to the imported ones. How has the experience been for those that own these Changan cars?
But as a proper Nigerian, my mind is still playing ten-ten about switching to a Chinese brand over a proven Japanese machine. Before I drop my hard-earned money, I need the house to help me weigh these options
Parts & Maintenance: If an alternator or sensor goes bad on the Accord, I can get it in Ladipo or any spare parts market in 10 minutes. What is the story for Changan parts? Can a regular mechanic handle them, or am I strictly tied to Mikano and what happens when I opt to import directly from China.
Should I go for the tech and newness of the Changan, or should I just stick to the reliable, comfortable, and easy-to-maintain 2014 Honda Accord?
Actual owners, mechanics, and car enthusiasts, please air your thoughts! no capping.
Stephen0mozzy: They say "Curiosity killed the cat..." Turns out there's an ending part to that saying, which is "...and satisfaction brought it back".
There's no one as curious as a young child, and for some of us during those young years, we let our curiosity almost lead us astray 😅. So let's do a little throwback to those moments when we really learned the hard way, we excitedly did something or try to find out how something worked, and we have never tried it again since then.
Share yours - What did curiosity make you do when you were still growing up as a child that you have not tried again after that event?
Lemme share mine...

LocalFARMERS: There was a time I went to the South East of Nigeria and I witnessed, how Red Oil is processed in a Community, in Enugu. These people make Red Oil in commercial quantity. Their red Oil is of good quality.
Almost every home in that Community produce Red Oil.
Anytime I go on Facebook I always see my uncle wife misbehaving online and calling it content creator
All her life is documted in video. She shares screenshot of private messages online
Any small thing she run to social media and tell the whole world what happened. Imagine she video her son breastfeeding and uploaded it. A very private moment
Now my uncle was seen as a no nonesense man, but the way this woman talk too much about their personal things is baffling. She will even post after they had sex🙄
There is no single privacy
Then the one that burst my head was when she started uploading sexy pictures with half revealing clothes😤😤 A married woman oo
I used a burner account to advice her to stop doing this and she insulted me and blocked me.
The husband go dey work Him wife go dey embarrass the whole family online in the name of content creators Now the respect for this man don reduce because he now looks like a weak man and the wife looks like she is running the show
They all live a fake life...that gender n notice me are like 5&6
Ehinjuola: Please, I need sincere advice because my mind is not at rest anymore. What started as a normal family visit has suddenly turned into something I never imagined in my life. My wife and I went to her family house to discuss our forthcoming engagement and other marriage arrangements since she is already pregnant. The discussion took longer than expected, and before we knew it, it was already late in the evening. To make matters worse, rain started falling heavily, and getting transportation back home became very difficult.
I was outside in the rain, moving around and searching for a vehicle that could convey us and my uncle, who accompanied me, back home safely. Throughout that stressful moment, my wife didn’t even seem concerned. She stayed where she was without making any effort to assist or even show worry about the situation. Surprisingly, her mother later came out to meet me at the roadside, praying and hoping we would find a vehicle soon. Even her father’s younger brother joined me in searching for transportation.
After almost one hour, we finally got a cab. While we were inside the vehicle, my wife tried to start a conversation, but I was already upset and disappointed, so I kept quiet. After dropping my uncle close to his destination, we continued our journey home in silence.
At some point on the road, I finally spoke out in anger. I asked her why she behaved so unconcerned despite the fact that we came to her family house for something very important concerning our future together. Instead of calming things down, she became angry too and started saying hurtful words back at me.
As we were walking home, she suddenly said she wanted to ease herself by the roadside. Because I was still angry, I continued walking slowly ahead without paying much attention. After a few minutes, I looked back and realized she was no longer behind me. I immediately returned to the exact spot where she said she wanted to ease herself, but I couldn’t find her anywhere. Since that night, my wife has been missing for 4 days.
I have contacted her mother several times, but she told me not to report the matter to her father yet. According to her, she believes her daughter is safe and will eventually return home. But honestly, I’m becoming very suspicious and confused. Part of me feels she may know where my wife is hiding, but I can’t say for sure.
What keeps disturbing me the most is this: Where did my pregnant wife sleep that night? Who is she with? Is she safe? And why would she disappear without contacting anyone for 4 days?
Right now, I’m emotionally exhausted and scared. I truly love my wife despite our misunderstanding, and I never imagined something like this would happen over an argument.
Please, experienced married men and women on this forum, what should I do at this point? Should I involve her father and report this officially, or should I still keep waiting and hope she comes back on her own?
Make it official ...report to her family before they accuse you of any wrong
