Family › Re: Should Nigeria Introduce Mandatory DNA Testing At Birth? by femi4: 9:10pm On May 21
Akell:
Every few months, social media erupts with another shocking story of a man discovering that the child he raised is not biologically his. In response, some people now argue that DNA testing at birth should become a standard hospital procedure.

Supporters believe compulsory DNA testing would:

• prevent paternity fraud,
• protect men from deception,
• reduce future family disputes, and
• provide medical and genetic certainty from birth.

Opponents, however, argue that it could:

• undermine trust in marriages and relationships,
• increase broken homes,
• create a culture of suspicion, and
• unfairly stigmatise women and children.

There are also broader concerns about:

• privacy and data protection,
• the financial cost of testing,
• possible government abuse or regulation, and
• whether Nigeria’s healthcare system even has the capacity to implement such a policy effectively.

So, what do you think?

• Should DNA testing at birth be compulsory, optional, or discouraged?

• Would you personally support it within your own family?

• Is trust enough, or should science settle these questions once and for all?

Ladies and gentlemen of Nairaland, over to you.
The govt should invest in basic amenities. Who DNA help

Goodman024:
Good evening, everyone. Hope y'all had a great day.
I have a question please. I just want to know if am the one not seeing this as I should or something.
So the thing is that my pregnant wife, currently in her 2nd trimester is making it look like I don't assist her enough even though I do help very often, even before she got pregnant. I don't see any big deal in it at all, I cook sometimes, do the whole house cleaning every now and then, and even help her wash her clothes sometimes. But I would say these days I haven't been helping out alot due to work schedule, not that I don't help at all, I still help whenever I can.

But in her own words, it's as if she wants me to do 80% of everything because of her condition. I didn't overreact or anything when she said it, but I was like what sort of talk is that.

I just want to know if she's right and I'm the one not seeing things as I should.

Kindly share your opinion pls.

Let's face it, some men are unfortunate in marriage and will marry insatiable wives that will cheat on them. When that is you fate, there is nothing you can do about it. Neither your good looks or money will have you.
But the queestion here is who would you rather be?
Will you be the one to cry about it like Mr. B or the one to be calm and make your moves to hit her when and where she never expected like Mr. A?
Both are shameless ...especially B

wildcatter23:
RELATIONSHIP IS NOT FOR THE WEAK🤦🤦

I went to a restaurant this evening to get food for my girlfriend.

After getting the food and just as I was about to leave, I saw two lovers arguing.

I asked the girl what the issue was, and she explained that they had also come to get food.

Their bill was supposed to be ₦8,300, but the waiter mistakenly charged them ₦7,800, which the guy paid.

As they were about to leave, she noticed the mistake and told her boyfriend to go back and pay the remaining balance, but he refused.

That disagreement eventually led to their breakup.

Is that enough to warrant a breakup?

What do you guys think?

Was the lady loyal to the guy?
Its more than enough. That guy is a big thief without conscience

Everyday, we blame the politicians for stealing but do we treat ourselves any better

A big red flag for me

ASUU strike durations by administration:

🔴 Obasanjo (1999–2007) — 18 months
🔴 Yar’Adua (2007–2010) — 4 months
🔴 Jonathan (2010–2015) — 13 months
🔵 Buhari (2015–2023) — 21 months
🔵 Tinubu (2023–present) — 9 days

Buhari recorded 21 months of strikes during his eight-year tenure — the highest total since the return to democracy in 1999.

So far, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has recorded only 9 days of nationwide strike action as of May 2026.

Good day my follow Nairalanders.

Everyday, life opens a new chapter of life to us. My own chapter had been opened and and it read... "it time to get married.

In the church I attended, there I met this girl so mature enough to be taken in as a wife. I approach her for the first time and I started asking her out. Seem she knew my intention, she started asking me about my church life, my family, my business and all that not.

To be honest with her, I did my best to answer every question in the language she could understand.

She seems not still satisfied with my account, she sent me this message at about 5am.
Said until I respond to those questions, she won't have anything to do with me again.

I'm truly confused on wether everyone that finds love 💕 really goes through this rigorous question.

And more about her life, she spent almost everyday in church after work. She said if I'm truly serious, I should also be as serious as she is in going and participating in all weekly activities in the church.

Please help, how do I answer this questions, since it the only options she said can bring us together?
These are easy questions that even play boy will answer easily

This reminds me of our school days during student elections, this guy joined the largest fellowship on campus, got born again a week later, joined the ushering team few weksust before the election. Uses Church to promote and campaign ...and after he won the election, he stopped coming to the church

Use chatgpt to answer her question, when she falls in love, she ll be flexible with you

Please, I need advice on what to do.
The community disconnected electricity supply to our compound because the landlord did not pay a community electrification due (money for transformer) that predates our tenancy and the landlord gave only me a quit notice with 30 days ultimatum because I was the only one brave enough to demand that he pays the due so that electricity can be restored to the house.

I want to take him up legally but I need guidance on how to go about it plus L do not personally know a lawyer.
Why should he pay for transformer?

That's not his responsibility
