Pls which shell are u referring to if it is spdc, they have not returned because they sold most of their properties/facilities to different companies (eg seplat).....
Have a friend Ewhoma who stays in Ogunu, told me shell was operating there as a logistics base. My Aunts friend who works in DBIR also confirmed it. And I saw this post online
http://punchng.com/shells-return-to-warri-will-boost-delta-revenue-businesses-govt/
Might all be stories sha

Thing is I know shell can't return like before, and even if all the companies that followed them can't all back. Besides in his final 3 years Uduaghan was running Delta fine without Shell, so whats the big deal?
PoliticsRe: Sudden Increase In Agitation In The South South States by fero007: 1:48pm On Jun 11, 2018
Are we not deceiving ourselves?
Niger Delta was created by politians, was eastern region not created by the British

Edo and Delta were part of western region and can stay in Nigeria, but you want to take anioma pepo in delta, were they not in western region too, are they no ijaws in delta, are they no Urhobos in bayelsa, claim Biafra is not an Igbo state yet you want all Igbo lands complete and don't care if the other tribes will be separated from themselves.

I agree that SE n SS ve the closest relationship and have same struggle, let's nt face hausa n yoruba as if d oda tribes are saints. Was it not Gen Aguiyi that brought this centralized govt system? Did Igbos not cheat ijaws, Urhobos n itsekiris wen they wayoed Asaba to be Delta capital instead of Warri? Have Igbos not taken over Rivers state politics and favoured Igbo areas of port harcourt over ijaws? Even Niger deltans themselves have embezzled their own money and cheat and fight themselves for land everyday. So the problem of Nigeria is all of us

If Niger Delta is to be part of Biafra they must be good mutual understanding
CultureIf Isoko Are Nt Urhobo, How Are Ukwani/ikwere Now Igbo(innocent Question) by fero007(op):
Isoko and Urhobo are 90% same but see themselves as different tribes, same thing with Efik and Ibibio. Even Itsekiri speak almost same language with yoruba.

So why is it that ukwani/ikwere can't be separate from Igbo

Accra also has friendlier people, good living standard, averagely better amenities and security

You are not making any sense.
Lagos has MORE this and that than Accra and so whathuh??
The population of lagos is about 18 million where thst of Accra is around 4 million so Common sense should tell you that lagos will have MORE of the things you've listed than Accra.
That doesn't mean lagos is better Accra.
There's a huge difference between quantity and quality.
I can see that's where your problem is.

Accra is the second livable city in Africa (By Forbes)

Accra is not overcrowded like Lagos.
Accra is not filthy and noisy like Lagos.

There's running tap n 24/7 electricity supply in Accra.
Roads in Accra are far far better then those in Lagos.

Its always quality(Accra) over quantity(Lagos) not the other way round
Lagos was ranked as the worst city in the world.

https://www.bbc.com/pidgin/tori-40966970
Guy has a point, though I personally prefer Lagos even Port Harcourt to any other African city(besides SA), I think Lagos beats Accra in theme of industrialization, commerce, popularity, Lagos is also a little ahead in development n entertainment
But Accra is also very developed, full of entertainment, and Accra beats Lagos in beauty and tourism.
The guy that said Lagos has better communication skills is a LIAR, its a known fact that Ghanaians speak english far better than Nigerians.

if not for the industrialized Yoruba land and their superior education, ibos wouldn't troop into Yoruba land, and of course mixture of cultures is what makes an area lively.
All this tribal based threads, it obvious most people will give biased answers

Anyway to correct, Ibos didn't move to Yoruba land cuz of education n industries. The stupid government policies that made the eastern ports dormant and stole resources from east and south to Lagos is what made Igbos move.
Restructure Nigeria and see a massive decline in western activities

Lets be honest - Yorubas are the most successful tribe in Nigeria. The Igbos are catching up though.
Yah right, Yorubas have amazing acheivements(though I disagree theyre the most successful), the problem is every tribe feels they're the best n superior to others,
instead of seeing themselves as one strong Nigerian team

chai its like I will join nl to properly discuss this, for nw let me use bode's username

wenem meka o, my pepo know we sef

Nw let me caution fratermathy n scholes for acting as if it is only their opinion that is correct, I doubt u pepo are even from my SS, if nt you will know that no tribe not even Bini n ishan like being lumped 2geda as Edo, they are distinct groups, PERIOD! u say u ve academic proof but I see even you don't understand what you read. What is your reason for putting almost half of SS as Edoid, same way they are diff from Igbo is same way they are diff from each other, Michael though im nt 2 sure of what he said, also made very good points

Imagine you were annoyed that ukwuani was put as Edoid, but you put Degema, an original Ijaw(kalabari) town as Edoid, r u not lookin 4 trouble?

If u ve any belief keep it for yourself and don't cum n stupidly post rubbish and claim it is fact

and come to think of it if your proof is correct and urhobo are from aka in Bini( some place they claim we rumuighoroya come from) then must have MIGRATED to be in their present homeland looking naija map how would they ve moved from northern edo to niger delta, without passing through current delta north, u see u r confusing ursef

we have Hausa, Yoruba, Igbo, Bini(separate), ishan( separate), urhobo(separate), isoko(separate), ukwuani(separate), ikwerre(separate), ogba, ogoni, Ijaw, itsekiri, efik, annang, tiv all separate and not under groups of diff tribes.

Ignorance is a disease. Please try and cure yours. Urhobo is an Edoid language because Urhobo evolved from a Proto Edoid language, alongside Bini, Esan, Afemai, etc.

And no, Urhobos were never referred to as "heebo" at any point in time. Urhobos were known as Sobo and that was it! Prove me wrong with any accurate colonial or pre-colonial document.

Okoro is a complex of names that is present in many ethnicities in Nigeria including all Edoid languages. There is no proof that it is an Igbo word or that it was loaned from Igbo. Provide one if you have.

There are no ancient Urhobo names that are Igboid in nature. NONE! Share some of those names and I'll tell you their exact origin.

And yes, you are NOT an Urhobo! No Urhobo will deny the Edoid ancestry of Urhobo. NONE!

@op: I don't know about other groups but Urhobos share nothing with the South East! It's as simple as that.
Actually many urhobos I've seen deny the edoid grouping as they believe urhobo is an original tribe that always existed on its own, not as an offshoot of Edo or any other tribal group and dat since they have no historic record of their own, it is possible the europeans documented what they assumed

BTW, I've noticed that does akwa ibom and cross river tribes eat plenty leaves just like Igbos, and they have high bride price too

I think you'll agree that dressing looks similar(at least when compared to my Yoruba dressing), I know urhobos have tradition of carrying wine to visitors, going for omuguo, and I know lots of times I've heard urhobos speaking and hearing Igbo words as dey talk.

I've noticed same with ijaws, Isoko, ikwerre ogoni, and some crossriver languages
CultureRe: Southsouth- Southeast, Are They Related? by fero007(op):

Isokos yes maybe.
Urhobos.... well it depends on which area. They are culturally between Benin, Itsekiri and maybe ijawish.

Etsakos on the other hand aren't even benin-like.
Well I don't know more than what am told. One of friend, umuokoro, an urhobo, told me that ancient urhobos were a distinct Edo group(like afemai n ishan mixed 2geda), who migrated through Aniocha area, interacting and intermarrying the Igbo people and absorbing their culture, before finally moving to their current home in Niger delta were they met the Ijaws, and also interacted with them to absorb their culture.

I guess that means I urhobos are partly Edo, partly Igbo and partly Ijaw, right?
