I think what got her so infuriated and devastated is the fact that he made an attempt to someone close to the family who went ahead to spread the info to family members and people from her home town. This is the main shameful part of it all. How will they now look at her. Maybe she has vow in public that her darling will never do such a thing. Finally, what can be done is to be cool about it and over time you will ease it out your mind. |
It is very unfortunate that armed robbers can operate in a busy area like Rumuola that is very close to the Bori Camp and could not be apprehended. Our life is definitely not safe. |

@spyder, for areas where the soil is stable as shown in the picture or in upland area, the earth can sustain itself from collapse so no liquid (bentonite) is needed to provide such stability. For areas where the ground water level is high like in some part of lagos, rivers and bayelsa state, the bentonite is normally called to duty of sustaining the earth from collapse. For example, I am working on a bridge project that involves pilling across the river somewhere in the niger delta. The bentonite is introduced inside the pile as soon the auger is removed to sustain the wall of the pile. This process is continued until the required depth is achieved. On if the bentonite can hold back the water from flowing into the hole and loosening the soil, the principle of osmosis can be used to explain this. The bentonite is actually thicker than the water so you expect the bentonite to tend to infiltrate into the saturated soil than the opposit. But the bentonite looses its viscosity overtime if the casting does not follow within the next 24hours thereby weakening the strenght of the bentonite causing collapse of the wall. This means that any day you expect to bore your pile, expect to cast the same day cause if there is a collapse while the reinforcing cage had been installed, it becomes extremely difficult removing the cage meaning that an adjacent pile has to be bored. This will cause millions for your company and the MD will never want to hear any thing of such. thank you. |
plz always try to give the arial view so that we can appreci.te the job the more |
I can see that I am already fascinated by the op's narrations. I hope to love this thread. well done kez |
where is the location of the project? |
werepeLeri:It is common knowledge that NLers always make every effort to spew rubbish just to discredit someone. |
In my opinion, as long as a contractor is not supervises by an external third party supervisor, the story of collapse building will never end. |
The causes of building collapse are numerous and cannot be determined by pictures but by professional investigation and analysis. |
Nice thread |
please how much can I budget for 2005 EOD to be delivered to ph |
Seunn11:You have been spreading this propaganda for some time now. Do not allow ethnic bigotry to blind your sense of reasoning. I believe if your story is changed the other way round, it will explain why we have more dark people in yoruba land. Wash yourself of this ethnic problem and you will be happier for it. |
And I hope more victims of such dishumanizing act should come out and report such to the relevant authorities. And I also hope that the police should act responsibly when such case is brought before then instead of accusing the victim of collaboration. |
Please talk to me about maintenance and spare part. and where are you located. |
igbo2011:No indigenous construction company get government job on merit. It is either you played your part during political campaign by the way of financial support or you are ready to give some percentage back to the awardee. |
brainpulse:You have really done well here. Well done. I will add to this list 2 more maladies. 9. use of incompetent expatriates. 10. Poor or lack of supervision I will like this: 9. Most foreign companies will always want to engage craft men from their country at the expense of Nigerian Engineers. These expatriates barely graduated from technical school in the place and sent to Africa because as you know there is no job in Europe. Because the company is theirs, you professional opinion does not count. Again, when they mastered how to trick Nigerian government, any attempt for you to go against your employer is tantamount to a dismissal. This leads to the next one. 10.Because of lack or inadequate supervision, these people are able to perpetrate these act with all impunity. You find Ministry of Works supervising a job that they are client to. Knowing what Ministries are in the country, compromise will always arise because definitely money has exchange hand somewhere. SOLUTIONS 9. Government should really follow up this expatriate quota and make it a point of duty that expatriate should handle jobs that Nigerian Engineers cannot handle. They should also make sure that the expatriates coming are qualified for the job and not those that will come to learn from Nigeria a later become their oga. This should not be left to government alone. Professional bodies like The Nigerian Society of Engineers and COREN should equally step up their effort to make it effective as their current activities to this regard is still a far cry from the requires. 10.Government should give supervisory jobs to competent engineering firms and not to the ministries or politicians or their sponsors. I believe that no reputable consultancy firm will like to compromise integrity for extra gain. Of numbers 1-8, I believe that number 1 is the most worrisome that should be handled in a larger scale. |
OLASODE2K:Off point |
whoever siasia chooses is good enough for him. nobody is indispensable is a team. whoever thinks that he is too big for a team should gladly leave. |
In an environment where manner and discipline are the order of the day, it will take a man of courage and good will to instil them back to the people. Siasia has been trying to make the players realise that as a team, you do thing together. You do not for the coach rather the coach the coach decide for you. what makes a player think he is more important or a mouth piece for the players when there is a captain. It is then an ego-trip and nothing else. No matter how you look at it, ''never you fight your master otherwise you bear the consequences that follows''. |
Well, lets keep trying until we get a formidable squad. |
Rafaell:I believe we could have gotten you clearer if only you could right clearly and stop this mobile phone texting format you are using - it really makes comprehension difficult. For those against the move to commence work on the Enugu/Onitsha exp/way, I think you better have a rethink. When the government is trying to make things done you complain and when they aren't moving you still complain. The road in question is as useful to those in the east and to every other person plying that route. Do you want the government to stop the road until the Ore road is complete? Please have a rethink cos I think the government have done their investigation and analysis very well. Do not wait to be a victim before you appreciate the effort. |
otokx:Why should he be there physically. Are you the only one that does not know of his health condition. |
The decision was never in a haste. Ghadaffi's time is up and he has to go. Most of the people that accepted his rule are late now so, he has to leave the place by free and fair election which he never wanted or by force which he is receiving now. The government never supported NATO that was killing ''blacks'' rather they have to go with people that are opposing dictorship so as to alinate the man that killed hundreds of his subjects that never wanted him. Do not forget that the time has gone when people are rule by others without there consent. A man in Libya that is 40 to 42 years today never gave Ghadaffi the right to govern him. |
I am equally interested in this cement retail business. Anyone with good knowledge of it should help out. |
