Wishing the beneficiaries all the best, they need all the help they can get to get back on their feet. For those shouting scam, audio money, etc . You can make some effort to verify if this is true or not before claiming it is as a fact. Ultimately, the most important goal will be to create an environment where there would be no need for this kind of intervention. Commendable and helpful as it is, it cannot being back all that has been lost, especially lives. Such money is better used on prevention rather than cure. It is often even a more efficient use of resources |
Timoleon:I wonder... The person interviewed only think its hardship. Which kin hardship he no too sabi Nairaland Mod decided to add Economic. Lol! |
Did he leave a suicide note behind? Or how did they know why killed himself? |
I learned growing up that how you treat your family member or people around you is how strangers who know you will treat them too. There is a reason it is said that you don't wash your dirty linen outside. Because eventually, the shame and embrassment you feel you are exposing them to eventually rubs on you. |
The same US also released a letter to the Nigeria Inspector General of Police under Obasanjo through their consulate that their check of the FBI records shows that Tinubu has no criminal record in the US. A letter which was also tendered as evidence to the tribunal. So is it possible that they released such letter without actually checking with the same FBI? An official document at such to the Federal Government of Nigeria. Would the US embarras itself by now releasing any record that is contrary to that claim? Time will tell... |
This could end up in his favour. I hope his opponents realize that the more these inquisitions go on and reveal nothing incriminating, the more sympathetic of him some people will get and consequently the stronger Tinubu is going to be. The tribunal judgement has already won some independents over who until the judgment believe that Tinubu's election is questionable. Its been the same with Trump too, every scrutiny and attack by his opponents only solidifies his base and gathered him public sympathy. |
Seriously, its getting hard to keep track of all these tribunal sacking . I just hope the people's choices across board are being affirmed and elected representatives are not being removed on mere technicalities. Someone that the majority of the people rejected at the poll should not now be representing them based on mere technicalities |
So if I said someone is like a father or brother to me and I accord him certain privileges I give to my parent or siblings, does that make him my parent or sibling? Abuja is the FCT and not a state. That it enjoys certain limited privileges in some areas does not make it a state. |
If this is public fund, invest the 100m in security, equipment, forensic and anything that would aid investigation. But if the fund is coming from the governor's own pocket, then he's free to use it as a bounty |
There is something comforting knowing you can leave a place at a specific time and get to you destination at a specific time too. Not like using a vehicle on an unpredictable road. |
He can recommend or nominate - fine. But the people should choose who should represent them. |
Spiritual attack. Someone doesn't want you there |
VEHINTOLAR:Like someone said, these politicians know what they are doing. They know they won't win, but they need to keep their supporters charged and they need to keep spending money. Both Atiku and PO are not even making a case why either of them should come first assuming you even sack Tinubu. Does that even make sense. Each pretending as if the other doesn't exist. Tells you that they are just out playing the game of a bitter loser who would rather not let anyone have it if he does not. |
I watched as one lawyer on Arise News claim the SC should also give judgement based on public opinion. An old lawyer for that matter. How can an elderly lawyer say evidence should take a back seat to public opinion? And then he turns around and implies that the current SC Justices are not up to some set standard of his. Some people are not just honest with themselves. But its not a Nigerian things. I have watched politicians in the US in the last few years slander their SC Justices because rulings didn't go their way. One was almost even attacked at home over a recent ruling on abortion. |
Funny thing is if Atiku or Obi had won and APC had gone to court saying the election should be cancelled because results were not instantly uploaded to the IREV, same people complaining today would be excusing INEC and vice versa |
What's it with these bureaucracy? Please give them what they want and not give them an excuse to latch onto when the SC judgement eventually doesn't go in their favour. That's the same way INEC gave so many people reason to doubt and rubbish the election they conducted regardless of the reason provided. |
The requirement for making heaven is not whether you did your backside or not. It is whether you have accepted Jesus as your Lord and Saviour, and your spirit is regenerated. |
Lets wait for the Supreme Court judgement on this and what the reaction would be if it doesn't end in the opposition's favour. I'm also surprised that both PDP and LP are not even trying to show why either of them should not be considered as winner in the unlikely case the SC rules against Tinubu. What of states won by PDP? Will the LP say all PDPs result are accurate and only the APC results are not? Or in the states LP won, would PDP say those results are accurate, and that's is just the APC results that are wrong. All I can see are two parties ganging up against one while not making any case for why they score more legitimately than the winner and the other runnerup. |
Chingyyy878:Why should you? If the person is someone you know or close to both of you, then your first move is to try and reconcile them. If you cannot resolve the issue, then put some distance between you and the person for the sake of your partner. But you do not have inherit any hate, malice or aggression if it exists. If its someone you have no dealings with, then good for you, as there really shouldn't be a need to inherit whatever issue your partner have with them. |
waveman2:Well, that means they just went out and gambled that they won and never really had the figures to back it up in the first place. Or on what basis will you claim you won if you don't have an estimated figure compiled by your situation room with your polling agents to compare with the ones iNEC eventually released. |
In a way, I am thankful for the fact that this went to the tribunal. It gave those who claim they won the chance to prove they did before the whole world and they failed at it and in thoroughly convincing manner. The point when they started spending time arguing for the winner's disqualification rather than proving they won settled it for me. |
chucks185:A perfect example of why the SANs lost woefully at the tribunal. Emotion without logic, arrogance and hubris instead of basic humility and respect. |
Supreme Court after a 5-0 unanimous decision? Anyway, na him money. |
Lol. I have no pity for Atiku. His selfishness, self-centeredness and uncontrolled desperation to be President after another northern man has been in power for 8 years turned what could have been a near certain win for PDP into an avoidable loss. It is also desperation, hubris, arrogance and an unsurprising lack of good judgement that would make a man that lost to a 5-man panel in an unanimous 5-0 judgement to seek an appeal at the Supreme Court. It is within his right to appeal though, and an expected dismissal will be a fitting end to an ignominious political journey of power desperation, political prostituting and "money can do all things" politics |
With this, the Labour Party just confirmed that there is really nothing different or special about them. Knowing when to retreat is also a virtue. |
Fedrams:I still feel that if he had taken the Jonathan's route after the election, point out the irregularities in the election, but then honestly admit that he didn't do enough to win, he would have pushed up his popularity, gather additional goodwill and be better positioned to challenge Tinubu in the next election. |
Those advocating for justice the most are merely seeking for judgement that rules in their favour and are not interested in the fact or truth of the law. |
OlujobaSamuel:Exactly. |
An expensive waste? We will know in few years time. |
Sadly Nigerians themselves clamoured against the sale then and were jubilant when it was reversed by Yar Adua. And as with fuel subsidy, political opponents took advantage of the people's suspicions and cynicism. Many times we are our own worst enemy. |
This life sha. Controversy makes some people rich while it gives other headaches and high BPs. Many lawyers, writers and social media commentators have surely made a lot of money pre-election and post-election |
Without the LG working as it should, it would be difficult to bring sanity to out roads |
