The headline is sensational and he was only giving a general assessment of the state of the Supreme Cour over his years on the bench. Never did he accuse the current CJN of being the culprit. I won't be surprised if he later issues a disclaimer that his words have been twisted |
If they continue like this, they will lose whatever is still left of their goodwill. |
After everything, BAT's is the proven winner of the election. He won and no one except emotionally invested partisans will argue against it. Atiku and Obi failed at the courts because they just didn't win. And you can only win if you got the votes and number. Both are confused anyway because they do not know who won between the two of them. They just went about shouting Tinubu did not win. Both did not even challenge themselves at the court. Or how can a third place Obi claims he won the election without challenging Atiku's second place or how can even Atiku claim he won without challenging Obi's claim to winning? They came to the court acting like a tag-team. They are both jokers and bad losers. From now on, these guys should be rightly call liars and bad losers each time they claim without evidence that they won. If they cannot convince even a single justice out of a total of 12, then they certainly have no basis for their conviction and should be called enemies of democracy - sowing distrust in a justice system they claim they want to see get better. As for INEC, they gave room for all of these. Their ineptitude is what these politicians are latching on |
StOla:As in. I guess he meant the "mob" court, not the masses court |
Its high time these people are told that claiming they won without any evidence is destructive to our fragile democracy. They would certainly not want to be treated the same way if and when they end up winning in the future. |
This is one of the reasons politics has become a do or die affair and elections no matter how well they are organised, will be always be claimed to be rigged. These guys could not convince even a single justice out of a total of 12 eminent justices that any of their claim is rooted in fact and law, yet they keep claiming they won the election. |
muykem:Exactly. Once he realized he lost the election and confirmed that it is the fact (I think he knew deep down), he should have congratuled the winner and take up an opposition role immediately. Rather he followed the script of an average desperate Naija politician. Play the long game. Present yourself as a true statesman and democrat like Goodluck Jonathan, gain more local and international followership and start strategizing for the next election. But I think he's lost more goodwill and leverage with this approach and would not gain anything from it. |
At least this whole petition did not take years like it did before. That's an improvement |
thesicilian:Hmm. Toxic and fatal combination they are. And the antidote is knowledge and experience |
seunmsg:I believe they did. It is the most basic step to take. But I also suspect that after their own compilation, they realised that they did not have the number they claim so they decided to abandon that approach and look for any loophole to capitalize on. |
Reading people passionately argue that this should be the case during the PEPT tells me that many people do not mind doing something illogical or legitimate as long as it works in their favour. You only need to realize the game in play when you realize that same lawyers will argue for and against the same point in different courts and for different clients. |
StOla:There is always a lesson to be learnt from those who succeed against all odds. |
Strange that some people clamouring for a new Nigeria seems to forget that one of the basis for this is a justice system that treats everyone fairly and judges by the rule of law - not based on whether you like someone's face or not. As far as issues are resolved in their favour, it is fair and right, even if it tramples against the right of the accused to fair hearing |
Hypocrisy is when justice is served only when it favours you. |
Hmm. Is it only women that cheat? Honestly no one has a perfect life. Since the cause of dead is largely known, why dig up every issues, problems and challenges he has had with friends, business partners, families, people and make a spectacle of it? |
Globad:Exactly. May God have mercy. |
Spidermon:The crux of the letter is to refute the allegations, misrepresentations and lies he told. See para. 4-10 of the letter. The reassurance given were in the light of his accusations and allegations. Para 15. which is the last paragraph explicitly reminds and warns him to obey the law of Ghana and be careful in his future public broadcast. Strange you didn't see all these yourself. |
I remember many US democrats trying to bend and stretch the law as much as possible to get Trump, arguing that it is justified because Trump is a "bad man" and "illegitimate president". They generally argued that Trump is not above the law but they had to be reminded that he is certainly not below the law either. Opponents of BAT should remember that too. True justice is a two-way street. |
I hope the Lagos state government realizes that shutting down markets and commerce centers are not decision that should be taken lightly considering the impact on the citizens and the economy of the city and state. Decisions like these should be driven by the need to solve identified issues as mutual partners, not driven by desire to flex power and authority. |
Na wa for Kogi o. Everyone is sha surviving assassinations. Thank God for His protection ![]() I think Dino too said 3 attempts. I hope it doesn't all become a case of who survived the most. |
The days are truly evil. May God's protection be on us all IJN. |
Kennitrust:Well. God is honest and does not lie so He allowed everything to be included in the bible us to understand and learn from. No sugarcoating and no embellishments. Elisha wasn't perfect and the power of God can be misused. Might be one the reasons why Elisha died of illness despite his double anointing and was unable to raise another prophet after himself. |
Another good reason why Christians in this country pray and their prayers are not answered. |
They also need to work on the infrastructure to make this possible. Then the safety and security of the system is something that can mess everything up badly. And they can be sure of attacks from bad people |
drlateef:Truth is that both have to be combined with manual transmission serving as backup or fail-safe. They can make electronic mandatory and first recourse with careful exceptions in certain and clearly specified situations. Manual transmission should then only be entertained in those situation and subject to certain conditions. INEC should only be empowered to use the manual when those conditions are clearly met, and INEC should not have the sole power to make that decision. |
For wetin now? Joblessness |
No big deal though, if it is all about service and not gain, nobody will care. But that is not the case, it is always about power, influence and wealth so it becomes a prize to contend for. |
Hmm. Can the source of the confirmation be trusted? Is it possible this killings are staged to get the IDF off their back? What's the use of pursuing someone you think is dead already right? |
Politics - no permanent friends or enemies, just individuals self interest |
LP and PDP will certainly reject this. They will both conclude they don't need it and that it's wasteful and inconsiderate of Nigerians at this hard time. Lol |
AntiChristian:Just curious of the image. Why start in 1917? The history of that area is sure older than that and dates back to BC. |
