PoliticsRe: I Never Authorised Agunloye To Award $6bn Mambilla Contract To Sunrise, Says OBJ by firearcher: 10:51am On Sep 04, 2023
If a minister can sign and commit the nation to a whopping $6b naira mega project without the president knowledge, then we have a huge problem. Considering Baba's hold on his cabinet and his boast on having a firm control, its surprising he can admit this publicly. Makes you wonder what other illegalities might have passed behind him if he really didn't know.

Any firm that also committed to such arrangements without meeting or confirming the president's position directly is likely not innocent.

This stinks to the high heaven and needs to be investigated. Expect everyone to be covering up.

Wonder if the school actually contributed to this win or they are just lucky by association.
Some parents hire special teachers or send their kids to special centers to develop their natural talents.

PoliticsRe: Perish Idea Of Military Government, Its Return To Anarchy – Rufai Oseni Warns by firearcher: 9:19am On Sep 03, 2023
Was in the university during the military era, and I remember Student Union Governments and all forms of protests were banned for most of my years then. Yet, we students still found ways to organize and protest against the government as well as their puppets and equally dictatorial VCs.

I remember several times MOPOLs were brought into the campus to shut down protests and flush us out of the campus after school was shut down. I remember the running into the bush and staying there till late in the night. I remember the tear gases, the screaming as students were tackled down and bundled into their trucks, a few not to be seen again.

Then after shutting down the school and forcing us all out of campus, they blocked us on the highway as we took buses to travel to our various homes. We were forced to come down from buses, then subjected to frog jumps, lying down and rolling on the hot tarmac, and all sort of physical and mental tormenting.

And you know what? The media dare not report this. Not on TV and not on newspaper. Even your parents can't do anything about it. Everyone was careful not to step on the military toes.

Its a shame that our generation and those before us did not cherish our hard earned democracy the way they should and work hard enough to establish it through good governance and advancement for all.

Nonetheless, its a also shame that today's generation doesn't know our true history. At best all they know are distorted facts told from sentimental and deceptive standpoints by those who should know better.

You had history that runs a decade yet you carry am go tribunal... Kalu don show am love😂😂😂😂
Nothing wrong in that really. If the goal of going to the tribunal is to establish the truth, then it only makes sense you sheath your sword and fight another day once it is established.

But if your goal is to use the tribunal to win at all cost regardless of the fact on who won, then that's what is wrong.

Don't do nude videos and pic. Its a bad idea. Worse if its shared with someone you are not happily married to.
Exercise self control and discipline. Don't assume others would think and act like you would do.
And don't take a chance on other people safeguarding your most intimate privacy.

Na so Obasanjọ wanted to sneak in a third term for himself. Had he achieved that, a fourth and consequent terms would have been possible. Thank God he was stopped.

Today, he still bear grudges against those who prevented him while he parades himself as a democratic stateman. cheesy cheesy : cheesy
Something about absolute power corrupting absolutely...

Nigeria democracy is strengthening, one dispensation at a time. Hope we are patient enough to let it grow.

Even in our current democracy, you see some soldiers disregarding the law, flogging people and intimidating them up and down. They don't even accord any respect to other security forces.

Now some are wishing they totally let them out of the barracks into our government offices and the streets.

I wish the Gabonese well. Sad that they are being forced to choose between an entrenched civilian family rule and military governance.

This won't work sir...

You can be optimistic all you want, and another can choose to be pessimistic, the outcome of poor leadership remains the same for both of you.

In all these separately lie the TRUTH!

...And the sad truth is that this nation is dying. I mean literally has gone beyond rock bottom due to bad and idiotic policies, corruption that has worsened under APC, and inability to grow the economy since GEJ handed over.

All the facts are there... You can choose to pretend that they don't exist, in the name of focusing on the positives alone. Sadly, that won't arrest the decline.
True, you cannot wish away the negatives, but ultimately, the optimist will do well for his own sanity and fortitude and be ready to make the best use of every situation while hoping for the best.

Apparently there's no independence for the LG. The LGs need to work. Its one of the only ways forward.
Sadly, the system already largely subjugated the LG under the state government - an anomaly.
Its tragic that many don't even expect or demand much from the State governors
Foreign AffairsRe: What Are The Direct Implications Of Coup In Africa To The Rest Of Africa? by firearcher: 11:12am On Aug 30, 2023
Blazebond:
It's going to plunge the continent into many years of backwardness,I tell you this with conviction that African military coups will be a serious setback to the gains of democracy, years of mismanagement and excess corruption and also add to that the silence of the voice of the opposition, military coups are bad and will never ever be the solution.
Its like they say, people don't realize what they have until its gone. Kind of baffling that people assume that those in the military will not be as power drunk or corrupted like many of their kins in civilians cloths. They forget that the military is also infected with the same malice of corruption, tribalism and religious sentiments that plague us all.

We already witness the overbearing behaviour and high-handedness of military personnel and their disregards for the rule of law when dealing with civilians.
At least we get to denounce and condemn them in public when this happen without fear of retribution. But in a full military government, I wonder what degree of freedom we will be permitted to exercise.

Now some want them to be in full control in order to spite the so called corrupted politicians - tragic! Sadly, our politicians as well as the people have not learned from history, and it may end up repeating itself.
Foreign AffairsRe: What Are The Direct Implications Of Coup In Africa To The Rest Of Africa? by firearcher: 10:55am On Aug 30, 2023
Military rule will always be a step backward. Grow your democracy no matter how long it may take. Every great nation of the world has their dark history of political instability and collapse.

I will never support a military take over of government, because they are the most difficult to unseat.

And they exercise their power through decrees, the force of gun and threat to lifes. No matter how good their intentions. Rather than rule through concensus, debate and collectivism, no matter how little.
Foreign AffairsRe: Gabon Residents Hail Soldiers, Celebrate Military Takeover by firearcher: 10:47am On Aug 30, 2023
Same cycle - people welcome coup because of dissatisfaction with civilian government. Then they realize that the military is no better or even worse. Then they start praying for a return to democracy.
Why? Because being in military doesn't make you less corrupt or better at ruling a nation. Men will be who they are regardless of whether they wear a civilian garb or a military one.

Focus on the positive and you will attract same.

Why exactly do they need the University to provide records of all the diplomas they have issued over the course of 44 years? Why are they sabotaging their own request?

PoliticsRe: Nigeria To Tap $37 Billion Market As Firm Confirms Lithium Deposits by firearcher: 8:29am On Aug 23, 2023
Rostikol:
This is the main difference between Nigeria and some of these African countries like Niger and co.

Nigeria has the capacity to leverage these resources IN-HOUSE.

Process them and build anything we want.

I'm very glad Nigerian and African leaders have said that this LITHIUM of a thing will not be like previous raw materials that were just shipped out raw for a pittance.

That era is gone and gone for good.

The other day, Ugandan President Museveni said that some European investors had visited him in his office, and said they wanted to mine Ugandan lithium.

He asked them why.

They said because they wanted to use it to build nuclear power plants, to increase their power generation.

He asked them if they'd ever seen the Access to Electricity statistics for Uganda, vis-a-vis their country.

They said no.

He said ok, that they should go and read it, and get back to him, so that they could discuss how they could partner to use the lithium to increase power generation in UGANDA FIRST, before he can allow them to buy any extra they have left.

He said they left and never returned.

These people?

If you don't use your sense with them, they will finish you.
Its business though. You just need to get a better terms for yourself.
But what stops African countries from developing the capabilities to mine their own minerals and process them if that's what they want?

Ultimately, its all about making wise business decisions. If you inherited a land with minerals and desperately need fund to develop yourself, you have the option start mining it yourself or to sell to those who have the capacity.
PoliticsRe: Atiku, Kwankwaso, Obi Discussing Merger To Wrest Power From APC - AriseTV by firearcher: 8:22am On Aug 21, 2023
Hmm. The APC merger worked because Tinubu was willing to delay his ambition for at least 8 years. The APC primary then was largely a tussle between Buhari and the same Atiku with Tinubu throwing his weight behind Buhari, figuring out that he would probably earn more support at the general election.

Can any of Atiku, Kwakwanso and Obi do likewise? Can they make sacrifices where needed?

By the way, they should forget the first scenario. It doesn't look likely the Tribunal would remove Tinubu. They did not make a strong case.

And if at all a rerun is granted, only Kwakwanso (the least likely to win on his own) would likely agree to any merger - and who says he can't queue up behind the APC considering his recent interactions with Tinubu.

Beside, both Atiku and Obi would see it as an opportunity to win this time. A merger between the two is the least likely. Atiku is the father of overambition and Obi's ambition too divided their last union in the first place. So what has changed between then and now?

Exactly what Tinubu wants to achieve.

Wants people to shift blame and attention to the governors.

Is he ignorant if d fact dat d money will be looted??

Then why is he giving it to dem, instead of putting it into reviving a refinery.
In a functioning society, the SG and LG are the closest to the people and the people elected their governors to carry out roles like these. It is time for them to step up to this responsibility and be crucify if they fail.

SGs receive allocations and other interventions for this singular purpose and the lack of scrutiny by people is part of the overall challenges facing the nations today.
