That you are single or unmarried doesn't translate to being lonely, so long as you connect with people; you are extroverted.

Wen you married with kids, and you are lonely, you choose to be lonely, infact, that's not even lonely but unhappiness. But, as a single man or woman, it's forced loneliness.

Anybody of marriageable age, who is not married and no children, who claims he/she not lonely and happy about his/her situation, is not different from mad man wandering on the road.

Today is our six years wedding anniversary and my wife (a very good wife) decided to surprise me with a gift. She bought a material for me to sew native attire. Of course, she said I would have to settle the tailor charges when I get it made. No qualms. I was so excited and thankful. Then it came, she told me that she also bought exactly the same materials for her two elder brothers. My wife knows that I don't do anko (asoebi). Now I feel belittled and the gift looks more like a slap. I strongly feel that mine should not be the same with anyone else 's. That difference is key to me (even if mine is cheaper and of lower quality). I am her husband and the father of her child, not just any man. She has been my sole responsibility for the past six years and her first ever anniversary gift should not equate me to her brothers in the village.

I gently told her to at least change the color of mine, but she has been moody since, claiming that she bought it since November and kept it with the seller, she only collected it yesterday. God knows that I don't intend to use that material. I might just give it to her younger brother next time he visits.

For the matured men (my elders in marriage), please am I on the wrong here? I am open to honest responses.

I just feel that mine should be different, the price doesn't matter. The value for me is rooted in mine being different. I do things for my sister too, but never on the same level with my wife. Her's is always different to reflect her unique place in my life.

I posted a previous topic about my divorce with my wife and i got alot of advice on this platform which really encouraged & have me strength.
I'm really grateful for the nairaland community. The only issue i'm still battling with right now is how to move on, i'm trying everyday to forget the past, but the more i try, the more it's becoming fresh in my heart and the pains too. I won't lie to you it's difficult. Sincerely sometimes i cry and the thoughts of ending my life comes and goes. This last one that she left, we just had a little issue and she packed a her things and left. So many people not to go to her family house and beg this time around since i didn't send them packing. I swear guys, i've forgiven and tolerated what 90% of men won't forgive nor tolerate from her.

Please guys help a brother with more advice, how do i move on?

There is no point flying the world with jets with the idea of winning souls when the souls on ground and their pastors are unhappy, hungry and suffering.

If our churches can be these sacrificial, investing and taking care of the people , Nigeria and by extension Africa would be a better place.

I have a cousin sister in her late 20s, she's going out with a guy in his mid 30s. This guy works in the oil and gas sector while this cousin of mine works in the telecommunication. They both based in Portharcourt. She met this guy immediately after her service year and they've been together for over 2 years now.

This guy hasn't asked my cousin out to be his girlfriend neither has he proposed to her to be his wife. He spent so much on my cousin. My cousin has met his parents and some of his siblings. He flew her from pH to Lagos to and fro before Christmas just to attend his friend's dad burial. This guy can spend close to million on a seat for her. He gave her ANYTHING, I mean just anything she wants. It got to a point my cousin started feeling somehow the way he spend.

The issue she's having with him is that, he can go for days at times weeks without communicating with her. Then the moment he reached out to her, he'd spend heavily on her. He's not a married man. He's single. Although he has jokingly told my cousin that all what he's doing for her is absolutely nothing . My cousin earn up to 100+ in salary while this guy earn million He jokingly told my cousin not to catch feelings for him as all what he's doing is nothing but unfortunately it mean a whole lot to my cousin. This guy isn't freak about sex. She can count the numbers of times they've had sex together. My cousin is confused why is he spending this much on her if he doesn't see her as his girlfriend or wife to be.

If not that my cousin has been to his office once and always goes to his house. She'd have think the guy is either a yahoo boy or into drugs due to how he spent on her. When he flew her to Lagos to his friends event, they spent a week in Lagos. The girl was in her parents house while the guy was in his parents house in Lagos. The guy didn't asked to meet her parents but he took my cousin younger siblings out for shopping, gave them money and also get stuff for my cousins mother.

My cousin understand the guy might have other girls as a successful young guy. She's just worried the way the guy is doing. She's really confused and doesn't know what to do.


NB: My cousin has left him at some point and blocked him but he drove down to her house to beg her. He will apologise and they will come back together. He's not ready to leave her and he's not committed to her only spend spend spend spend

Those guys are earning a minimum of N1.5mil to N5mil every month.

When they enter, they're shocked at it. Then it goes to their brains and they begin to feel entitled and selfish.

That's when a lot of them, their marriages or relationships collapse. They feel they can do better.

They go on spending sprees (I remember when MTN used to pay $1500 monthly, those boys were buying branded native wears like crazy). They don't know what to do with the money, so they upgrade their lifestyles and stop listening to the stable person in their lives (wives or girlfriends). They can afford anything they like, so they do. Prudent savings be damned (even the ones that save struggle to be disciplined).

Eventually, the frenzy leaves most of them. They calm down, because it gets boring seeing that money hit your account monthly (no longer a big deal).

The emptiness inside them is still there, worse, it's bigger now. Then they start trying to get rid of the money: spending on others to make themselves feel good and look like a hero in others' eyes and freedom to live their lives as they please.

You can't fix them, they ruined their lives themselves. Their problem started with low self-esteem and insecurities.

Same with politicians when they first enter govt. The madness no get Part 2. That money controls them.

I could be wrong o, but if you know these guys, you'll notice they have the same patterns.

Ha..ha..ha..the story sounds familiar. Firstly, that dude is suffering from a severe case of low self esteem and is hiding under the cover of being generous.

Thirdly,a lady I know had similar experience. The guy would spend thousands on her and she thought he was generous. Eventually, he had a court marriage with her without a witness from her family.

I will keep it short, this is not a thread to bash ladies but to point out an observation.

I started dating a lady last month and everything was going fine until last week when she demanded for money for her christmas hair and clothes. I actually had a lot of bills to settle and also send my mum money for the christmas and I told her I wouldn't be able to give her the money she requested for cos I am also saving for my rent payment which is due early next year.

She got really upset and left my place angrily and since then has refused to call or message me, I decided to reach out to her and she told me the relationship is over . I just responded with ok and I moved on. Despite the short time we have been together I have always spent on her and always assisted her when she needs any form of financial assistance. I can actually afford to give her money for the december but I believe the relationship is still young and I want to be sure the feelings are genuine and not money motivated.

I have also had similar issues with other ladies and I observe they are so money minded , is it a general issue with Nigerian girls or am I just unlucky. I am neither stingy nor broke, I am a banker and I earn well but I am always unlucky with the ladies I meet.

So I want to know do you guys also experience such? Is true love no longer achievable in Nigeria?

Good day guys I need your advise on this issues especially the ladies.
I have a lady I'm dating which I have intention of getting married to and its been 7 months together but the thing is that I'm a very gentle and quiet person that loves peace.
So everything wa going well when we first met until she started complaining of almost everything if we are going somewhere may be we board a tricycle to cover a short distance she woukd almost be fighting the person sitting next to her just because she wanted the person to adjust.
another thing she did that's annoying is the fact she expects me to tell her everything about me which is not possible.

Then she resorted to saying why is it that its my sister that use to help us go and get food instead of her,them I told her that my sister knows all this things and how to get them done properly why not leave it for her she got mad that I do things behind her without telling her and why are my always running to my sister foe stuff, then I told her I didn't run to my sister and my sister is this type of person that always look out for me since we lost our mum even if I just visit my sister she gets mad that why are my going to see my sister
