Weedcrusher: You're so on point. Mass re-education and reorientation seems to be the only way forward. My first post on this thread was to mention abnormalities I observed amongst political elites in the country. Just as expected, instead of addressing the issue, they decided to correct my expression. Typical of people with inferiority complex. Say something bad about others in order to feel good about yourself. On this forum instead of the youth to challenge and question the status quo, they will rather support a system that hasn't worked for decades and rain insults on one another. An Igbo calling Yoruba Afonja, and Yoruba calling Igbo Igbos etc. And most of these people are in their late 20s, 30s and 40s. Little do they know that when Chukwuma Kaduna Nzeogwu challenged the status quo in 1966, he was 29. When Balewa became prime minister, he was 47. When Ojukwu decided to liberate his people, he was 34. Ahmadu Bello was 28 when he became Sarduana. Awolowo was 45 when he became western premier. Gowon was 32 when he became head of state. Whether you think of any of them as hero or villain, they all made history and effect change before their 50s. But Nigerians in that age bracket now will rather campaign for Buhari, or Atiku, or claim Jonathan was Messiah, someone even wanted patience to contest. All Hope seems lost Patience Jonathan? Are you for real? Wtf? Really? I am so glad God saved me from that country i swear. Patience Jonathan. I am going to have nightmares all night tonight. |

Lexusgs430: I sense some form of Norwegian syndrome. When our politicians begin to do good, we are shell shocked. Our default position nah to suffer. They have physically and abstractly conditioned our minds, to the suffer mentality syndrome.......... Norwegian syndrome? What's that? Is the symptom of Nigeria's problem? |

Lexusgs430: I sense some sarcasm...... ... . But we cannot continue doing things this way........... Let's redefine our style of government. It's clearly not democracy Nooo. We like it like this. We like to suffer. Next election, i will collect rice and vote for whosoever gives me cash. Suffer is our portion in Nigeria and we must maintain it. |

Weedcrusher: You are the only one that addressed the issue. And thanks for your point. Like you said, bad citizens produce bad leaders, I can't agree more. There are countless things that Nigerians don't see as big deal or bad but they define who we are, and why our socioeconomic and political system is in a sorry state. A typical Nigerian doesn't see anything bad in jumping a queue or demeaning others or honking unnecessarily on the road. These little things define our core values as people. I spent almost 2 years in Canada before I heard a car honk, and when it happened, it felt so strange. Nice post. You even try. I did a project for my company in Germany and for 6 years i never heard a honk. Can you imagine? Six years fa. Nigerians don't realize that the solution to their problem lies at their feet. There needs to be a total re education and re orientation of the average Nigerian. |

Lexusgs430: From his personal funds or state funds? It doesn't matter. I beg leave the guy. State funds are his personal funds to do as he wishes. Nigerians love these kind of leaders which is why they keep having the same ones. Nigeria deserves the leaders it has. And rightly so. Dem like to suffer. |

Weedcrusher: When I look at Nigeria governors, senators, reps, president etc. I realize the reason why the country is so backward. How does this thing became a governor? You forgot to put the everyday citizens on the list. You forget that these leaders come from the citizenry. They are not from the moon. If the citizenry is bad, the leaders you select will also the bad. Bad citizens = bad leaders = bad country. Good citizens will always bring forth good leaders. It is an indisputable fact. As they say in computer science; Garbage in, garbage out. |
