Is it not what they know that they will speak with their wards? Pls tell me what else I need to understand from the OP? Thanks |

Another tip could be: instead of using a negative word in communication, negate a positive word. Eg: Instead of saying: I HATE eating egwusi without plenty vegetables. Say: I DON'T LIKE eating egwusi without plenty vegetables. Also instead of: This house is too DIRTY Say: This house is not so TIDY |
tranxo: Well, I don't get fazed by looks 'cos believe me, I'VE SEEN IT ALL.Oh, yes, her character is the main thing for me too. but she is good looking too. #mylastpost |

tranxo: So sorry you didn't get to see through my humour. I apologise. Lo siento. No problems dear. Just before she left this morning, she gave me all her credit cards to use up the remaining amounts before I leave too. I was touched and begged her to upload her picture. Take a look ![]()

tranxo: You can have it if you want. It's all yours for the asking. You might even like the experience more than your usual. Lol.. What ever you are insinuating, pls stop it. Its hurtful. My roommate was like a sister to me. She was a very nice person to be with. She just had a few words but always full of smiles. When I met her the first time about a year ago, she was just a pure ajebo. An American than has never been with a black before. It amazes me how much she was willing to learn. Within the school year, she learnt to wash her clothes, tidy the room, sweep, clean and share things. These were things she never knew how to do before she came here. She is very respectful and never dragged for anything! She thought me some Spanish and learned to help me maintain my African hair. Lol. I really love her. I spoke with her family a couple of times too. But one year has gone. We have rounded up our studies and she is on her way to home now. I just cried seeing her off. |
tranxo: Hmmmmm.....u never talk wetin happen oo.Na you get your mouth |
My roommate is good! I mean every word of it. No need for long story, the babe is good. I always told her that if I were a guy, I will marry her. Lol My roommate was like a sister to me. I almost forgot the title of the thread. Well she had her "no sides". Lol. She always wanted to please everyone and will end up getting into trouble. And when she doesn't want to attend classes, she fakes "ill". Sometimes, she over-drinks too. |
OP come home! Nairaland is in English Language, is it inferiority complex? You typed what I can read and reply to here, is it inferiority complex? Nigeria was colonized by Britain making our Lingua Franka English Language. China has no colonial masters. The have had Mandarin from the word go. They have the most ancient history in the world. Also Nigeria has over 200 ethnic groups and over a hundred languages. How else can we communicate if not a unified language. Yes, I know China has 56 ethnic groups, but then, only one majority the rest are minority and all of them speak dialects of the same language- Putonghua. It's nothing to do with inferiority complex in my own understanding and opinion. English is to us both a scientific and a commercial language. We have been learning with it from kindergarten classes. All subjects are taught in it: Science, Mathematics, Art courses all taught in English. All our exams are set in it! Its even difficult to come through a serious job interview without a good command of the language. So it is only natural to communicate in that same language. I have never seen any Mathematics text in Igbo nor Hausa Geography textbook. I have even received Igbo lessons in English sef. Yes!(you can ask me how). On the contrary, those guys are different. They start, learn, draw, eat and breath Mandarin. Their language is complete, over- complete sef. It's difficult or say of no use to them to have another language. You can't even access their websites, technology, gadgets if you cannot read Mandarin. So pls sheath your sword! Escuuusus mi ![]() |
I met twin girls, Chiamaka and Onyinyechi. It didn't have a sync so curiously, I asked their Dad and he said Onyinyechiamaka. One long name split in two. I loved it! |
There is a traffic rule in Beijing (and of course other big China cities like Shanghai) now, that your car plate number determines your "car-off day". For instance cars whose numbers end with 83 (I don't know the sequence though) will not be allowed on the roads on Tuesdays, otherwise you will be arrested. Subways, city -transit buses, motorcycles, bicycles are their good alternatives. |
Madcow1 is good too. |

@fellis: You are blessed. I also feel that since I am in a Chinese speaking environment, it is better I do my Masters in Engineering while improving my Chinese Language alongside. That way, I get them both. I have been studying classroom Chinese for 2years now. And living within helps a lot too. My mind is getting made up but lemme see if I can get more responses. Thanks a lot, dear |
@fellis: I have more passion for Engineering but I'm confident that I can do well in any of the two. My major concern is judging from the Nigerian job/ economic perspective, which one has more prospects? Thanks @Aminho, pls check your wechat I appreciate, pls can I have more responses? To mods, I know this is not a love/ romance story so it may generally be considered un-interesting but pls I really need diverse views. I don't want to make avoidable mistakes. Oga Seun, pls do something. Thanks |
I have Bachelor's in Engineering at UNN. Mods pls help me move this to FrontPage. I need as many views to this as possible. Thanks |
Dear house, please I need career advice seriously. From educationists, counsellors, recruiters etc. I'm currently in China and got to admission offers. 1. Masters in Chinese Language 2. Masters in Power System Engineering I came here because I want unbiased opinions. Family thinks Chinese language is better (even though a part of me thinks its because its cheaper than going to the Engineering school). They gave other reasons sha apart from finance. They said China is fast penetrating Africa, developing into world economic stronghold etc. Please can I get opinions that will help me make a valid decision from the house? If need be, I will throw more light as the thread goes on. Thanks |
