I used the train again back to Abuja during the weekend. I decided to board the Economy class this time and I met lots of crazy characters here. It seems that the train ride is fast gaining momentum as we saw lots of passengers who were waiting for the train at Uromi railway station.

Na wa. I don't like what Mercy Aigbe did, but why's no one talking about the horseband ![]() I mean, he's a grown adult for crying out loud and should take responsibility for his actions. ![]() A man that is snatched is not a toddler, he allowed himself to be "snatched". Them nor put gun for him head And to those saying "She's misled" the youths? What are you people yapping about? Take whatever these yeyebrities post with a pinch of salt. |
pocohantas:Wow you don't like boiled plantain? I like unripe boiled plantain especially when it's soft. I really don't like ripe boiled plantain, it's an apology to me. I'm not such a huge fan of fried plantain too. Frying it wears me out. I only eat it when I want to satisfy a craving. But seriously, nobody would do free work for social media page handler eh. ![]() |
pocohantas:Then get a social media handler for your pages na. |
Magnoliaa: You wee nur even say you don't want? undecided I thought swallowing our spits to stay full and hydrated until we can get home to eat was one of the core values our parents instilled in us? Cc: pocohantasIt is true. The prices for Northerners is quite different. It's very cheap and surplus in the North side. Just keep that woman's contact wella, and tell her to be supplying you especially if you like buying foodstuffs in bulk. And then you can tip her for the stress. And then the Zobo part. So you add granulated sugar to your Zobo. What we usually add to ours is lots of pineapple, ginger and other fruits. It's so nice taken this way. |
pocohantas:Omo, very irritating thing. I cringe when some people smile at such compliment. Tueh! ![]() |
pocohantas:I swear down oh. I hate it more when they'd now say "You're smart, you don't think like a girl" . ![]() |
AmazonTopaz:Lmaoooooooo. I can't deal also. I'm lazy and I don't have strength to fight or chase my fellow girls because of man. I hate stress and confrontations, I nor get power. I don't understand that Mark your territory chant they always yell about. ![]() Aww. That's nice, I'm happy for you. |
AmazonTopaz:Apt! One would think that some of these male lawyers would be refined as a result of their education but NO, their brains are still shallow minded when it comes to women and discrimination. It's a shame really. I actually do not let it slide. There are days when I'm vocal about it and also days that I don't have strength to be arguing with emoshuna men. Yes, this is true. The average Nigerian women are family/home orientated, and this also includes female lawyers. Way back in the University, a female Lecturer told us that We should get married before we become Lawyers, that men out there are scared of female lawyers, and it's hard for us to find horsebands. I found it really amusing, maybe she was talking about her personal experience though. Then again, it's this fear of not getting a horseband , that is pushing many of them out of legal practice. Another reason is low pay and long practice hours. So many reasons actually. There are many areas that are upcoming and really flexible for female lawyers especially in the tech startups, HR, Digital marketing etc. |
AmazonTopaz:Hmm. Thank you for the clarification. I'd just stick to the Esquire name then.Even for female Judges here sef, they still call them "Sir". I feel it's a backhand compliment or title.Lol yeah they're emoshuna. ![]() And you're absolutely right, there are so many male chauvinist in this profession who feel they're more superior than us. One was even telling me and my friends that after NLS, that we shouldn't bother to practice, that female lawyers should just marry and rear children. |
This thread is so funny. ![]() |
Same way female lawyers and law students in Nigeria that are becoming a majority in the legal profession still get condescendingly referred to as "gentlemen in skirt" what rubbish even in England it is a condescending and old fashioned word. It also reminds me of when the former CJN Walter Onoghen had to remind female lawyers that they are entitled to the Esquire title as it is obtained in the abroadCc: AmazonTopaz I thought I was the only one who find that gentlemen in skirt tag for female lawyers very derogatory. ![]() For starters sef, in NLS there's disparity between the Lecturers as to the choice of words to use for female lawyers. Civil Litigation Lecturer said Women shouldn't be called "Esquires", that it's solely for men, the other Lecturer for Professional Ethics said "Esquires" are for both male and females. What is wrong with these people? ![]() I also find it appalling when a Lecturer told us that we should add either "Miss" or "Mrs" in our names when appearing in court. I've settled within myself that when I'm drafting for exam purpose, I'd just jejely put only names that are unisex so that one emoshuna examiner will not fail me. |
