Good afternoon everyone.... I saw a video of floor tiles being used on external floor, it looks beautiful but won't it break when cars drive through it? What are your thoughts about it?

Yes, I have seen it with cars parked on them but I want to believe they are not the ordinary ones. Ask the tiles guy. He might have an idea.

Pls let us be careful about our wiring of our project or house. Somebody called me on Monday to inspect an apartment in IKOYI , they have electrical issues and three of their AC's got burnt in the last four month. We went there and carry out power audit. We discovered that all the socket outlets and AC switches has no earth cable . We saw earth pit chamber within the compound and also 4mm green earth cable run from earth pit to only ground floor distribution and there is no continuation to the first floor distribution board. Anytime there is surge in that area definitely it will affect one or two things in the house and this surge normally occur when there is power supply from PHCN. We plugged electric kettle to one of the socket outlets, the body of the kettle conduct electricity. The electrician only earth the distribution and not the entire house . The body of kitchen , the washing machine and some other electrical appliances are conducting

TAKE NOTE OF THE ANALYSIS BELOW

Lighting
You can use RED and BLACK cable only, reason is because there is no earth terminal in most of the light fittings they produce nowadays

SOCKET
2.5mm RED, BLACK and use 1.5mm green as the earth cable. And remember the same number of coils of cable is require for this. I have seen messages t from people requesting for 2.5mm
Red 3coils
Black 2coils
No green ...
The quantities above is wrong and incomplete
A. The quantities of RED must be the same with quantities of BLACK because they are both running from the same DB to each socket. The only area where we normally have more RED. than BLACK is when we are doing cable for lighting. The reason is that neutral doesn't connected to switch except you want to use smart switch

B. Earth cable is missing.and earth cable must have the same quantities as RED and BLACK

AC
4mm RED, BLACK and 2.5mm GREEN. And they must all have the same quantities since the are to connect to distribution boards down the AC switch .

Also the main earth cable to building always depend on the size of load cable used

If your load cable is 16mm IEE permit 10mm to serve as your earth cable.

Most time your earth cable can serve as neutral ONLY IF your neutral fails . That's why it very important and necessary to earth your building ..

If your neutral fail and there is no earth cable to serve as neutral your voltage can go as high as 300V and witt thus high voltage alot of things will get damage

Pls always insist on earth cable especially for your
- SOCKET
-AC OUTLET AND AC SWITCHES
-COOKER SOCKET

Thanks for the expert explanation!

depends on the height. And the size. Some are too small that they can be made and transported to site.

In some towns I have visited, they make tank stand and sample for sale

Depending on the size of blocks and mortar mix ratio, 34 bags should be enough. Some may use less (weaker mortar), especially if the fence is going to have concrete pilars and beams (chaining).

As per the 150k, if he's going to pay his laborer, I think it's fair enough, otherwise you can negotiate like N50 per block for him while you pay his laborer like 2k daily.

That amount is a turnkey. He is not responsible for any laborer.

thank you bro.

do you think the labour cost of 150k is ok?

I responded already in my earlier response. You are paying 61 naira per block and remember he is going to pay his laborer.

Good morning All

Please, how many blocks will one bag of cement set?

I am doing my fence now on an uncompleted building i just bought and the bricklayer is saying i need 34 bags of cement for 2430 blocks?

Is this too much?

also, is there a method of calculating pay for bricklayers? he is charging me 150k for the entire fence - 2430 blocks.

I need advice please

@Approximately #60/block is not bad and 70 blocks per bag is not too much from my personal experience.

Good luck on your project.

Ogbeni valuepaints20. You were the one that came to advertise on a thread I personally created for my products and services and now you have followed me as a monitoring spirit.
I only mind my business and I don't interfere or concern myself with whatever other business persons are doing.
I don't need to pretend to be politically correct or nice not to say I find that in bad taste not done with the best of intention.

@Valuepaints20, this is unfair.

You are the same business. You can create your own thread and showcase your products.

Good morning.

Please do one needs government approval for your building plan before building?

The land was bought from a real estate company, all documents and allocation has been done.

Now it's time to build, and they want to approve the building plan first, and later tell you to also go to the state government for their approval too.

Please is this correct?

Yes, you still need approval from the government.

The issue of rising dampness on your wall cannot be resolved by skirting or screening cos it will reoccur unless the root cause is address or blocked.

For the pic attached, use the grey cement with addictive like Geekop earlier suggested.

We have 2 types of dampness
1. Rising dampness
2. Dampness

Wall screeding can Stop external and internal Dampness ( this required special mixture NOT the regular type

BUT RISING DAMPNESS no no no screeding can’t stop this, it required special treatment/ solution.
I have explained it here sometimes ago.
Solution like
1 Silicon-ate sillant solution
2. Cathode and anode solution
3 Engineering Blk solution

Well-done! Thanks for the contribution!

Good day engr. A building with a not so high DPC, how do you advise they do the landscaping. I read that if the outside floor is higher or at the same level with the dpc it can cause capillary action. But the professional I contracted is ignoring this, and going ahead to raise the compound too high for my liking.

How do you suggest I proceed pls.

Engineers in the house. Pls help. 🙏🏼

Are you sure he's a professional?
He should be the one advising you on the height of your foundation from the onset and not vice versa.

Let's wait for the engineers' advice
Good luck on your project!

Thanks for the enlightenment sir. My plan is this,. I have done the lintel and so I want to add one coach/block to the foundation level so as to increase the height of the floor level. This also means that I will be adding another one coach/block again at the lintel level.
I don't want a situation whereby I will be dealing with floor during raining season

Your explanations here seem you didn't do DPC.
