Now my question is;

The building before this project sharing a fence has thier generator house attached to the fence and somewhat disfigures the entrance, also I would like to do an electric fence all round.

How does one go about this? Is the owner of the building supposed to adjust the cover and limit it to inside his compound or there’s nothing we can do since we met them there ?

Also, please note that this generator house is at the backyard of the building. That is; mine is facing the opposite direction.

I did this one yesterday evening.
None of the drillers that I contacted gave me any assurance beyond "we will do our best".
The one that took the job insisted that I provide a representative that knows about borehole drilling. Should things go the way I don't like, this person will bear him witness.
There was about 40 meters overburden. They struck water at around 110 meters and they terminated the drilling at around 120meters.
26 pcs of thick Lombardy casing pipes used. I'm awaiting the installation of the pumping machine today.

I did 2 geo-surveys and they both pointed to same thing, similar spots.
I contacted 2 drillers. One is charging me about 1.9m for the total package and the other one is asking that I pay him as things unfold. drill, installation, procurement and I'll later pay for his service charge (he hinted that around 1.5m will sort everything). I have done borehole in my previous project but this seem to be an entirely different experience.
They both said that they're going to be using the Indian drilling machine.
Kindly offer your advice. I want to get it right this time. I already wasted 600k on a deep well, with the pumping machine now stolen.

Yes with your overbuden, you need the Indian drillers or locals with the right machines. They are mostly in Ibadan. They couldn't do mine in Sagamu axis because of the overburden of 50m my survey has. I had to use the company that has been drilling in the estate. I paid 550k early this year. I can give you contact of the Ibadan folks and you share your survey with them but you do your diligence.

Distance to Ikeja (peak) is 1hr03mins.

That place is ORILEMO, far from MOWE-OFADA proper. I don't know why these developers are calling there MOWE-OFADA.

The level of the balcony compared to inside the house, I thought it should be reverse i.e. inside higher?

Look at the frame of the door downward.
You will see the reverse you talked about.
The inside is higher than the floor of the balcony.

Leaders, i am also at the roofing stage and my engineer advised i used a minimum of 0.45mm long span. My roof is completely hidden( contemporary) and i seem to have a different view. Is it advisable to use a .40mm ? Here in Warri 0.45mm is 3,500 per meter while 0.40mm is 3100.

Use the 0.45mm to give yourself some level of confidence from leakage.

Why don't you ask your carpenter to identify the part that is leaking and you change the exact location instead of changing the entire roof.

ADVICE NEEDED, I wish I can run this on a separate thread but it is what it is.

I started building this house on the first land I got, a gated estate in a serene environment but electricity is bad (once in a month kinda light) and the road leading to the estate too is not quite good though the neighborhood is the most populous area in the state capital.

The Goal deep down was to build the biggest in the area so it was a duplex with around 10rooms (2 living rooms, office, library, gym, and laundry room inclusive) 8 toilet/bathrooms, kitchen, and store. And by God's grace, we were able to do everything including plastering, wiring, plumbing, burglary, and window with the main doors fixed, and we were left with normal interior and exterior finishing. That was when my eyes cleared!!! I became wiser and I already have like 2 other lands in better estates with better electricity.

The house became too big and my taste changed to something smaller and simpler, my mind already moved out of the environment due to the electricity ish and how populous the area is (the house is noticeable from all angles and it stands out while I am just a single young guy).

That was how I abandoned the project in 2020 till I make up my mind.

I went there today and my mind broke, the property and the works we've done are wasting away, and my money is wasting away.

I need your advice, should I complete the house (which will gulp 20M + in this tough economy, money I can use to do better business) and rely on Generator and Solar for the rest of my life.

Or I should sell it and use the money to build something smaller and simpler.

If your mind is no longer there, sell and use the fund build your new taste in one of the other estates.
It's difficult to live in a place you don't like.

I saw this poorly constructed staircase with a waist of about 2 inches.

The waist of a reinforced concrete staircase is very important cos the steps (risers and threads) rest on it. The thickness should be sufficient enough to carry the weight on it. Most times we assume a thickness of 6 inches or more depending on the span of the flight.

This particular staircase will most likely fail when the props are removed.

It's five 10' X10' shops. One for me as a mini office, two combined as a shop for Madam (of course), one to be used as a barber shop (we'll outfit and supply the shop and just hire a barber on a split contract basis. The last one will be the supply room for a small neighbourhood joint. There'll be another building soon that will be about twenty or so hourly rental studio rooms. What clients do in there is their business

Oga mi. My four years on the ground has opened my eyes to lucrative off the radar business that brings daily income. I say it again, one can't be in the USA/abroad and plan businesses in Nigeria. We are a unique country. N1K per hour is let's say N12K per day (assuming 12 hours but could be 16 hours). N84K per week. N336K per month. N4.3M per year. One room. No rental contract. No eviction. No court nonsense. Just disinfect/clean/wash linens. 10 rooms = N43M/year.

Do you know one gentleman who asked what we were building has asked to rent one of the studio rooms on a monthly basis as a kill shelter. His words not mine
