But bros I thought u too were claiming Old generation football follower. How come u no remember this one? grin
Bros, i no be Old generation ooo! grin but i started watching ball at the National stadium in 1984. grin The first match was the FA Cup finals between Abiola and Leventis United. In the same year, i watched Ranges vs Leventis United. Leventis United won the matches on both occassions. grin

And the thing i could remember in those days is the popular song " o'n ke bi ologbo iwayawu, meow meow Meow!` But i no bi Old generation. Sometimes i love watching Football but sometimes i loose interest. If i tell you i stopped watching football from 2001- 2006, you would not believe it. In fact, i didn't watch a single match in the 2006 world Cup.

Don't misunderstand me ooooo. I get informations from... grin i no go tell you now.

That moment when a team has already made 3 substitutions and the game is approaching extra Time. And suddenly a player picks up an injury that rules him out for the rest of the match. And no more substitution angry

I saw the above scenario play-out at the 1988 AFCON in the semi-final clash between Nigeria and Algeria. Who I fit ask here now o? Emm... undecided

Ehen.. forgiveness cheesy you remember that game?

With the game at 1-1 a Nigerian player (think Ademola Adeshina or so.Cant remember well again) had received a Red Card midway into second half of the match. Abt 85mins into the game both teams had made all 3 substitutions. And as the game approached extra time, the Nigerians knew that the Algerians, having the extra player, would have the edge. Then a Legendary player BRIGHT "10-10" OMOKARO ensured both Teams entered extra-time on same scores and same number of men. How?

Omokaro simply injured one of the Algerian players. As the player was being stretchered out Omokaro shouted "10-10 oya make ball continue" grin. The commentator, the Late Ernest Okonkwo, then also shouted some like " it is now 10-10" !
Algeria had already exhausted their 3 subs so no way that player could be replaced. grin

Both teams finished the game "10-10".

That was where Bright Omokaro got his popular nick name "10-10" grin

So introducing a 4th substitution in extra time would prevent the kind of "10-10 scenario.
grin for where! Even the last Nations Cup matches, i never remember. Na that one i go come remember? grin Bros you dey try ooo. The only person i know can remember past fooball events from 1950s na my palle. grin

If I were Coach Samson Siasia, I would gladly put Odion on the bench and may only feature him as a super sub, so as to give the younger ones a chance to showcase what they have got.
I hope the coach will not base his selection on sentiments but on the current form of players in the camp. If Odion shows better quality than the younger ones during training, why should the coach keep him on the bench?

One of the reasons why I feel we dnt need Ighalo in Rio....

We have so many U23 attackers that are setting Europe ablaze. We need to see them in Rio so as to fully assess their national team capabilities which has in so many cases proven to be different from club capabilities.
As for me, Experience they say is the best teacher. When we went to the 1996 Olympics, we took Emmanuel Amuneke along as one of the over aged players. Remember, he was in the form of his life at Sporting Lisbon. I think we need to bring Ighalo along because of his experience and fear factor which i think will go a long way to intimidate the opponents defence

I suspect something Sir, if the post by Sir tbaba1234 in the Dream Team thread is any thing to go by. I suspect Iwobi is running away from the FA's influence. Who knows if that is one of the reasons why he never wanted to waste time in England, but reported early. I love his patriotism. He wants to play for us with the whole of his hart. I think Sir Forgiveness is happy with this development gringrin

Awaziem 90 Minutes for Porto, kept a clean sheet. Porto won 1:0

Success: Red Carded for dissent...

Aminu Umar- Scored again in Turkey, played 90minutes

William Troost-Ekong - Scored the first goal for FK Haugesund in Norway (He is on loan from Gent)

Iwobi - MoTM for Arsenal today, bagged a goal for his efforts.

Awoniyi - Scored his first goal in Germany on Friday

Under 23 boys looking good...
Solanke - After almost 3 months out due to injury came back to score a brace after he was introduced on the 75th minutes. Hehehe! Who say e no good?

I guess you mean government should devise a way to find only the brightest students and provide government funding for only the students that feel bright. Is that what you are saying?

The European kids have better economy, better structures, almost every top club have facilities no Academy in Nigeria have.

So your solution is, do not give the African talents like Iheanacho and Kelechi Nwakali opportunities and scout the foreign academies for their so called brightest talents.

Please stop all these. If you do not get that Iheanacho had to go through a tougher obstacle than Santi Mina of Valencia to get to where he is, I wonder what else you want me to say.

Iheanacho is doing far better than Solanke despite Solanke growing up with better facility and equipment, better coaches, better environment, better kits.

So, how you can not see that our grassroot players like Iheanacho needs a little opportunity to grow beats me.

It is simple logic. You do not need to be a genius to understand that every kid needs equal opportunities.

Unfortunately, the likes of Solanke have far better opportunities than our local talents there but you do not want equal opportunities for all kids but all for the Europeans.
Of course, if that system worked for Japan and South Korea, why not? Best kids all the way but that is education.

Let us talk soccer.

Whether they have or not doesn't determines their success. Where did Yekini, Odegbami, Emunike played before they became the best? Europe? Hehehe. You know what i am talking about.

If they are good enough, let them fight for a shirt.

Iheanacho better than Solanke? grin Time will tell.

@ bolded said it all. Every Nigerian kid needs equal opportunity. That's all.

Does requesting for the inclusion of one or two exceptionally foreign talented players tantamount to asking for all European born kids?

Who thought low of Alaba? It is even respect the coaches gave him. Boy you do not need this opportunity like our local boys. Alaba did not need the U17 to become a top star. Iheanacho, Nwakali, Osimhen needed it.

Iwobi did not need it. Look at him today. He is an addition to our team while we still could produce Iheanacho.
We don thrash dis issue already and you know the outcome. Alaba was still an academy player when he came begging.

It was a very clear statement. Which of the English players today can walk into the starting line up of Bayern and Barca.

He is deviating because his World Cup favorites do not follow.

I wonder why it is painful to him that some local pure water selling young boys became big boys and made their family proud due to our focus in using the U17 to develop our grassroot talents.

The thing is painful to him that Nacho is now teaching Aguero how to dance Shoki.
So, Na every year Brazil dey produce talents? So, the one Real Madrid, Tottenham, Manchester United etc no sabi ball? How many Nigerians can enter Barcelona team now or Real Madrid?

So if someone ask you to suggest a player for Real Madrid to sign this summer, you will say Lampard and Gerard.

Maybe your are not aware. Lampard and Gerrard were no part time players or should i say fringe players. They were the engines of their teams and that earned them 2nd and 3rd FIFA best players in the world respectively. Abi i lie. What you think doesn't count or matters. The World had already judged them and the records are there for you to see.

Owen was never "WORLD BEST". He was European best (old european Ballon D'or-- became merged with Fifa world best in 2010 to form the Fifa Ballon D'or) in 2001 while at Liverpool and we know why.
Luis Madeira Figo was "WORLD BEST" with the Fifa world player of the year award that year.

You dare compare Owen to Kanu and Okocha!!!!huhhuh?

Come here, let me lay my hands on you...... Something is definitely SUPER WRONG with this "foreign-only" mentality of yours.

Because the best plays in Europe. Nevertheless, FIFA World best was inuagurated in 1991. Ballon_d or had been existence since 1958. Does that in anyway annul the past recipient as the best in Europe or the world?

You think say na too dey dribble na him be football? The truth is, at the time he won it Kanu and Okocha were there but he outshined them both to win it. Hehehe.

Many said he flopped in Madrid but they have forgotten he scored 16 goals in 45 matches in his first and only season in Madrid.
