Orkpekyandega: Tottenham Hotspur Midfielder Onomah, Liverpool Winger Ojo Get England Call-Up https://allnigeriasoccer.com/football_pics/54313Josh.jpg A pair of Anglo-Nigerian players have been named in the England U19s squad for the upcoming Elite Round of the UEFA U19s European Championship matches.
Tottenham Hotspur starlet Josh Onomah is among the four midfielders selected by head coach Aidy Boothroyd in his 18-player roster, while Liverpool winger Sheyi Ojo also made the squad.
England U19s first face Georgia on Thursday, March 24th before squaring off against Greece and Spain on March 26 and 29th respectively.
Onomah, who is still 18, has made 19 appearances for Spurs in all competitions so far this season and was in action against Borussia Dortmund in the Europa League last Thursday.
Hemel Hempstead-born Sheyi Ojo made Liverpool’s bench against Manchester United last week. Ifeanyi Emmanuel allnigeriasoccer.com/read_news.php?nid=18265
It is news articles of this kind that interest Oga Forgiveness.
I thought Onomah is a Ghanaian. Anyway, both of them can only play for the U23 and the National team because they have been capped at the under age teams.
So forgiveness do you think all our best talents are in Europe. If Babawo Mohammed did not organize this match, the scouts will not know him. There are loads of talents in our grassroots.
How old is he? 18 years. You see what i am talking about. If you are 20 years and you are still playing in Nigeria, it will be difficult to get a good club or a club in Europe. That's all.
chrisooblog: guy why you like argue defeated cause? thank God you said ezekiel has only scored 3 goals this season is that good enough? boy might still come good but siasia has no time to be waiting for a player to perform
egbon you funny o comparing ajagun to ronaldinho and mata. for one the latter two were sold while ajagun wasn't even deemed good for panathanikos to sell and make profit
please in future try and watch players performances and stats before recommending them not just scouring the internet checking for nigerian sounding names on any european teams list and then concluding he's good enough
Ezekiel Imoh is playing regularly and has scored more goals than moses Simon this season. That is the point. Don't forget Siasia has extended invitation to him for the friendly against Brazil.
Ajagun is what Ronaldinho was to Barcelona in his club before the new coach came in November last year.
Under new Chelsea manager José Mourinho, Mata spent a lot of time on the bench. Mourinho preferred Oscar as a playmaker, and suggested Mata needed to adapt to a wider position and to working harder defensively. Wikipedia
Center Back with Nigerian and Italian background. Terribly unimpressive in the video clips... Defense was the team's weakest point at the AFCON under 23 and i can't see this guy improving it. Really bad.
He plays for SSV Reutlingen in the fifth division in Germany

Sia1 has a wonderful selection headache on his hands especially regarding which strikers to use but i trust him to make the right choices. like icon noted i don't think we need ighalo in rio. we already have so many young attackers who are u23 that i feel can do the business are we forgetting ajayi so soon or awoniyi or osimhen? add success, iheanacho and chikatara would you know it we are practically covered. i think we should focus on areas were we are not so strong eg defence. happy to see the emergence of that young boy in porto. there's also one guy in bolton a former madrid prospect can't recall his name now he can also bolster the defence. i'm rooting for leon balogun to help form the core of the defence line for rio. kingsley madu looks a sure bet for leftback hopefully stanley amazie can rediscover his form and give him a run for his money. i'm also worried for musa mohammed hopefully when he's called to camp he will regain his confidence.
starting xi for rio gk. daniel lb. kingsley madu cb. leon balogun cb. amuzie rb sincere seth dm. ndidi/usman mohammed/onazi cm. azubuike okechukwu am. iheanacho/ifeanyi matthew rw. moses simon lw. etebo fw. success/ajayi/osimhen
preferred position 4-5-1/4-3-3 variant
Hmm! This is how my recent starting 11 will look like.

Now, let us examine and compare the players Siasia invited for friendly and the other list suggested by a forumite with my list.
Note: Uche Agbo was not played as an attacking midfielder in Granada when i saw him played. He was mostly used as a defensive midfielder and box to box midfielder and that was why i included him as a defensive midfielder.
TheGoodJoe: Many remain. Very many good players remain. Do you think we can scout every top talent? Even at local club level, there is still a lot of politics and good players get left behind.
Osimhen is there today because he showed up for Amunike's scouting camp. His close friend who plays with Osimhen missed the trial. He was there the first day but he could not make it the second day. If Osimhen did not come, No one will know him today and he might continue hawking pure water on the streets of Lagos.
And the same Osimhen will be off to Germany as soon as he clocks 18. Can you now see what i talking about?
Cleverly does not follow. Tufia. That guy is a true example of how a crap player can reach the top of football. Imagine that crap playing for one of the biggest clubs in the World.
I see them a lot in the EPL. Some of them can not even trap ball. Watch some games in the EPL.
The only way forward is the growth of our local League. So we can show case our talents in large folds.
What forgiveness is telling me that all the players in second division of German club football are better than every player in our local League.
Haba! Which time did i say so? The truth is the best never remain in Nigeria at the age of 18.
tbaba1234: Let Agbo prove himself to be a regular at Granada first. He has not set the place on fire yet. Iwobi is much better at the moment because he is playing at a team with more competition and he still gets games.
How many games has Iwobi gotten in the League so far?
Icon4s: Sir Forgiveness, I think you need to apologise to this honorable house for putting Uche Henry Agbo on the list of players that would sit on d bench in Rio.
Icon4s: You no go die my Brother. U know... to defend an argument here on this thread u need a big heart.
I dnt think u and I have ever been on d same side of any argument. It is good having pple like u around so there would always b one controversy or the other to discuss
Lol. It is just that i love creating something close to that..
tbaba1234: Success play weekly for Granada. Agbo plays for Granada B in the third division of spain and is not even showing quality at that level.
Please!!
Bros, I saw Agbo played several times and i don't think he is an average player. He has played 6 league matches and 4 Copa-del-rey matches. He even started in 6 of those matches and went the distance in. That shows you that he is gradually picking up.
However, i just love his confidence and his attacking and defensive ability. His case his not different from Iwobi na.
forgiveness does not know we have better players in Nigeria than Cleverly who plays in a Big team in England/Europe.
Heck, I will take Nwobodo and Ifeanyi Matthew over Tom Cleverly.
Which better players in Nigeria You mean Ifeanyi Matthew and Nwobodo? Bros, do you think European clubs don't have their scouts in Nigeria then how come they have not been noticed with all their amazing talents? Bros, our best have been shipped out to abroad. Shikena!
TheSuperNerd: You know the players. Most other forumites here know too. So no need going over something that's so obvious.
Aspiring to play in Europe is because the best and most elite of football is played there, most especially, in the BIG FIVE LEAGUES (La liga, Epl, Bundesliga, Serie A and French Ligue 1).
Not every player that plays in Europe is the real deal.
Sir, i challenge you to list them because me i no know any average players on my list.
TheSuperNerd: @Bolded..... Herein, lies your "disease" as regards players' selection.
That's why your list is always a mix of some brilliant, some average and some "wor-wor" players.
Latvia, kazakhstan, Moldova, Faroe islands, Cyprus, and many more are all in Europe!!!!!
Even playing In England shows nothing if you can't make a "statement" there.
Drop this mentality!!!!
Walahi! I no get am for disease.
Show me the player wey wor-wor for my list and i go show you the one wey wor-wor × 10.
Don't forget Kayode Olanrewaju is the highest goal scorer among these lot but i shot em out of my team why? Na Austria em dey play for. All those countries no go make my list. By the way, if you talk about then Madu is out. Shikena.
You say make i drop this mentality. Pls, kindly relay this advice to our local players who are dreaming to play in abroad then i go mellow. Habi I lie?
TheSuperNerd: Why does he deserve to make the bench??
Uche Agbo make the bench? At whose expense please? Usman Mohammed? Ifeanyi Matthew? Obinna Nwobodo?
Usman, Matthew, and Nwobodo aren't even sure of making the trip to Rio. And you put an Agbo on the bench?
I've followed Agbo at Granada and have followed him since the 2013 Fifa U-20 world cup preps under John Obuh before the tournamet proper. And I must say you have a knack for naming a few (or some) averagely-talented and somewhat mediocre foreign-based in your squads all in the name of the term, "FOREIGN-BASED".
WETIN Local based do you sef?
Negodu this man oooo....
Kilonshele?? Kilode??
Please, can kindly list the 'averagely- talented and somehow mediocre players' and let place them side by side with the talented ones you know? i dey wait ooo! Local no do me anything but i also know local players wan play for obudo oyinbo by all means. Habi i lie?
joseph1013: Because I will not take him over the following players who can play Attacking Midfield based on current form: iheanacho, iwobi, etebo, mikel
Which current form? You mean part time players? With the exception of Mikel Obi who is no longer an attacking midfielder and i don't know if he is willing to go to Rio.
