We cannot ignore the rich abundance of super young talents in Nigeria and start chasing after averagely talented young players in England. What we need do instead is to improve on our youth development system particularly in the area of transition from U17 to U20 to U23. We all know England has produced best players in the world and has won the conveted FIFA World Cup. Tell me when Nigerian players attain to that height then i will take Nigeria youth system serious. |

When have you seen an U17 Coach of Nigeria touring Europe for talents.
'' I got the information that Nigeria will only consider those who were in the country perhaps because of travelling logistics and that is the end of that."... David Alaba.
Former NFF President Alhaji Sani Lulu Abdullahi has said that for the country to sustain the successes recorded at the FIFA U-17 World Cup, attention should be paid to the development of the game at the grassroots level.
Lulu, who was the President of the Federation from 2006-2010, said if the game is properly developed at the grassroots level, with emphasis on those in the primary and secondary schools, that the chances of the country winning the senior World cup in the nearest future becomes brighter.
http://allafrica.com/stories/201512211983.html
I do not know how I am going to explain it. Our grassroot Football lacks behind in development. A young Nigerian in Europe like Alaba and Dele Alli stand a better chance to succeed than a talented Iheanacho or Victor Osimhen.
So the NFF focuses more on using the U17 to give young Nigerians with little opportunity a chance to grow. We have created one of the best U17 developmental program to help the Iheanacho and Alampasu have a chance of showing their talents to the world.
So you are telling me, you will feel happy if we take away one of the few opportunities of these young boys to promote foreign talents who have better opportunity abroad.
I support Coach Tella and Coach Garba for rejecting Alaba until tomorrow.
It is a brilliant system and it is working. I am waiting for the new gems Coach Manu Garba will unearth when he completes his scouting program. What year was that? We are are talking about what Garba and Emmanuel amunike said recently. As you can see, he said the goal is to win FIFA World Cup. but i am sorry what we have on ground can't do that for now. David Alaba has moved on but where are his set? I mean the ones Tella regetted him for? You see what i am saying. |

Totally misunderstood the phrase. A Coach dropping Yaya in Barcelona is part of the business. No player is a regular or guaranteed a sport.
So if a young English Nigerian dreams of winning the U17. Not getting picked is part of the football business.
If the U17 Coaches wanted money, do you think it were pure water hawkers like Alampasu and Osimhen that will give them the money over European boys collecting allowances from big clubs?
The U17 being used for Grassroots level development is a good idea and any young player who respects his future teammate will appreciate the noble gesture.
It is not just about trophies but increasing the pool of players for our National team coaches. Out of 23 players you only took out 2. Bros, one of my family member is a young footballer based in Warri so we know how it rolls. Na money and tribalism dem dey take select players or you sign slave contract with the coach as ya manager. Iheanacho case still dey mind. We saw how the coach in question was throwing punches and issuing threats all over. Are you not aware of that? Don't forget that the U17 camp for all. Anybody willing to play for his father's land can walk into the screening and display what he has got. If he says he has a house in London, then invite him and ask him how he got the property. If you are not satisfied with his explanation, then charge him to court.
KANU Agabi's submission is that just charging him to court without allowing him to explain whatever they felt was wrong in his declaration form, robs the court of the necessary jurisdiction to hear the case. What was written at the end of the declaration form before Signing it? NLban: AF Nigeria Premier League 2015/2016 Turkey How much will Nigeria miss Omeruo against Egypt? by Samm Audu
The absence of defender Kenneth Omeruo is a major setback for Nigeria leading up to two all-important AFCON qualifiers against Egypt later this month.
Omeruo has been ruled out of the qualifiers due to a groin injury. Omeruo has been one of the country’s most consistent defenders in Europe and was widely viewed as the man to stop Egypt dangerman Mohamed Salah when both teams clash in crucial AFCON qualifiers on March 25 and March 29.
His youthfulness, energy and speed were seen as the antidote for the dangerous Salah. He benched then skipper Joseph Yobo to partner Godfrey Oboabona as Nigeria against most expectations clinched a third AFCON crown in South Africa three years ago.
Before a groin injury which will sideline him till the end of the month, the Chelsea loanee has established himself at Turkish club Kasimpasa so much so that they are now considering offering him a permanent deal at the end of the season.
The 22-year-old defender has so far made 18 appearances in the league for Kasimpasa, who are seventh on the Turkish Super Lig table.
Possible replacements for him in the Eagles would be Germany-based Leon Balogun, Efe Ambrose from Scottish champions Celtic with CHAN Eagles centre-half Austin Obaroakpo an outsider.
Despite featuring regularly for German Bundesliga outfit Mainz 05 this season, Balogun was not an immediate call-up by coach Samson Siasia after information was gathered how the heat in Kaduna last June adversely affected him.
Ambrose, on the other hand, has reinvented himself in the Super Eagles after coach Sunday Oliseh deployed him to his more familiar central defence role than right back.
He justified his place in the heart of the Eagles back four with two well-taken goals against Cameroon (a friendly) and Swaziland (2018 World Cup qualifier).
Even though he has this season been struggling for game time at equally struggling Celtic, he is most likely to now pair the slow Oboabona to stop the Egyptian attack in Kaduna, where he was born and cut his football teeth.
Abia Warriors star Obaroakpo has already been capped at full international level by Oliseh and featured at the recent CHAN. He will now most likely be a cover for both Ambrose and Balogun. africanfootball.com/news/620017/How-much-will-Nigeria-miss-Omeruo-against-Egypt Kenneth Otigba and Gbenga Akokoyo are also Nigerians but somehow they have been overlooked so far. Despite their exploit with their clubs. Which way naija. |

Another such player is Angel Di Maria hu is now on fire at PSG. If his play pattern doesn't suite dat of d club's philosophy then they should loan him out. He could possibly rediscover himself.
And to his inclusion in Manu U20 WC selection. I am surprised that peeps are bringing it up in this matter. Savior simply impressed d coaches in camp and so made d squad. Is he d only member of that squad that has been struggling at club level? How are the following players fairing: Musa Mohammed, Zaharadeen Bello, Chidiebere Nwakali, Musa Yahaya, even Taiwo Awoniyi and a host of others. They are all still struggling to find their footing in professional football. The only 4 members of that squad that have really set their careers rolling are Kelechi Iheanacho, Moses Simon, Isaac Success and Dele Alampasu. Ifeanyi Matthew is also doing well on d local front bt i feel he deserves a better league.
Savior is a good player, he can still bounce back. That is why I will always be in support of using our U17 for the development of grassroot level football in the country.
If the likes of Dele Alli and Co. are too big to wait for their turn to wear the Green White Green like Aluko, Moses and Balogun, they can play for their three Lions or where ever they want to pledge their allegiance.
That is not the type we are looking for. We are looking for the types like Balogun who despite being born in Europe, feels Nigerian in his blood. Ok! 'if' that is, we are still searching. That is why finding the special grassroot talents is important and beneficial to our team.
Left to you, Coach Amunike should not have carried Osimhen and scouted European academies for a hitman, missing the services of a young boy who made a historical appearance smashing the U17 goal scoring record.
We have more special talents in our grassroots than Europe.
You guys can cry about the Dele Alli's and Barkley's without knowing that in our grassroots, we have missed players better than these. What we are saying is Amuneke or whosever is there should set his eyes only on the best. Osimhen and Nwakali might turn over out to be average when you compare them to Ross Barkley and Dele Ali. That's the point. So, do you mean if we add Ross Barkley, Dele Ali, David Alaba and Jordon Ibe to our national team, they will not add value? Clubs will not sign all the prolific ones, so it is wrong to make it look as if we should only search Europe for talents for the National team.
That is also why we can not afford to use our U17 to scout talents in Europe because we leave behind a lot of promising talents. Who no like better thing? You mean clubs will not sign Iheanacho, Awoniyi, Success, Nwakali, Osimhen, Rabiu Ibrahim, etc after seeing their talents? hehehe! Sir, pls tell you joking. European clubs usually search for young talented players. Bros, talent pass talent. So, we should not try to turn our national teams to market. If the ones in foreign lands are more talented and better than the ones on ground then they should be giving the chance to play for their father's land.
