mrvitalis: How would i list competent person there are certain criteria for having a good minister of finance n cbn governor
Person should at least have a PhD n minimum of 10 years experience in macro economics (not micro economics)
Have a minimum of 10 years developmental economics policy formulations
Should at least have work experience with international monetary policy agencies like IMF, world Bank, AFDB and the rest
This 3 conditions have never been met by anyone appointed by APC
Only the present CBN governor has met 1 criteria and that's just the first one
I know u know nothing about economics/management let alone macro /developmental economics to understand this things Okay. Mention the better options. |

If you believe Victor Boniface will make the team ahead of Taiwo then I can boldly say you don't rate Taiwo but unfortunately, he is way ahead of any Nigerian striker in the world save Victor Osimhem. He's playing at the highest level with the best players on the planet earth. He has already don dat at Bundesliga before he went to EPL. Don't tell me you now rate Bundesliga above EPL just because of numbers of goals. Remember, you rated Osimhen ahead of Taiwo because he was in Seria A which was above Bundesliga even when Taiwo out scored him in 2021/2022 season. Don't talk about consistency. Internet doesn't forget things at all. If at all we are to pick competent and consistent strikers over 3 to 4 seasons, there's no way Taiwo will not make top 2. That's even behind Osimhen but on Nairaland, he is not even in top 6. What a joke. |

Aganga, who spoke in Lagos at the 3rd Adeola Odutola, lecture during the 51st Annual General Meeting of the Manufacturers Association of Nigeria, asked:
“What is the wisdom in spending billions defending the naira when it continues to fall instead of investing in genuine manufacturers and exporters of high-value products that would earn Nigeria foreign income and more.”

1.Reintroducing subsidy and the debt therein on petrol, and maintaining subsides on power, which limits growth in both sectors.
2.Not urgently fighting corruption and leakages
3.Not improving tax to gdp ratio. I thought he debunked no 1. He just made appointment to head the agencies fighting corruption. Let us see how it goes. I don't know about no 3 but I know he is more focused on improving on tax. |

I don't think Tinubu is confused. We need to move from the way we did things to another way. We are in the right direction. Buhari secretly removed subsidy long before the election. The reason it wasn't included in the budget. There was nothing Tinubu could do. Why are people interested in the exchange rate? Because they depend so much on imported goods including toothpick. Can you imagine? It's not that we don't produce anything but we don't seems to patronize our own produts hence the rush for anything foreign. We must change our lifestyle to adopt our own products. |

Even the corrupt ones are Allison you can't deny they were brilliant at what they did
APC issue is the right people to do jobs don't come from the region they want it to come from
For APC all positions are reward to regions for supporting them..
. For PDP there were some key positions they were reserve for technocrats irrespective of were they are from From your submission, the only right people to do the job are from your region only. The ones from other regions are incompatible with efficiency hence incompetent, right? |

emorse: Don't forget that you have to produce first before you can export. So if cost of production kills small businesses, there'll be nothing to export hence, no benefit of devaluation. It's a delicate balance. That is why government intervention to fund local products is very important. Korea government funded Samsung, LG, Hyundai etc to get to where they are today. |

Theunbothered: But devaluing the naira will make it very difficult for Nigerians to produce anything since what we import are refined fuel wheat and machines. If the raw materials are not imported but produced here, I don't think it will affect production. We have to develop and improve our own indigenous technologies. We have the technology to refine crude oil but because we don't appreciate it, we clamped down on them and rely on oyinbo technologies. Meanwhile, we are adopting modular refineries technology from them but ignoring those with the technology to do local refineries. What stops us from invite these people? Exam the technology and develop it if possible. Then license them to refine crude oil. Vola...no more importation of oil. We must adopt our local technologies if we want to produce and export. |

Bede2u: Lol. It is not about the value of naira but the RATE at which it is losing value which is causing undue hardship to people on salaries.
If the value of naira to dollar is 2000, but has remained like that for 5 years then naira is regarded as a stable currency that can store value. I quit agree with you but the problem is, we import more than we export which puts more pressure on the naira. I think if we produce and export more, our economy will be stable. Value of currency doesn't determine the wealth of a Nation. Won is worthless but the economy is good. |
