How can he be in the same position when he ran to head the ball? Is it possible according to the law of motion in physics? |

optimusprime2: Taiwo Awoniyi is a "Center forward or forward" not a striker, although he sometimes can play as a striker... Check the difference between a Center forward and a Striker... Once again, the Only Solid Striker Nigeria can call on currently, is Odion Ighalo.
Now you said; Awoniyi's ball movement created space yes! That's correct because he is a Ball carrying forward, and that's what he is supposed to do, a true striker on the other hand would create space, with off the ball movement basically influencing the defensive line of the opposition by literally playing off the shoulders of opposition centerbacks, and get this, Without the ball that is a classic strikers Job ... Check what Harry Kane does or Lewandowski they don't ball carry, infact they barely run around the flanks, however they make very intelligent movements that force the defensive line to drop deeper...
Those off the ball movements strikers make without getting into offside positions is actually what is everything...
FYI if you generate a heat map for Awoniyi today, you would notice he was receiving the balls more outside the penalty area and driving it to the penalty area or flanks, that stat already disqualifies his off the ball movement as a striker. He is a good Center forward though. In modern football, strikers tend to withdraw and play along with his team mates. A traditional striker must be tall and strong. The features Awoniyi has but in modern football you must withdraw and play along with your teammates. This is exactly visible in Kane and Lewandoskwi in the way they play, in contrast to what you are insinuating here. |

optimusprime2: To be honest this team has good forwards but lacks a natural #9 striker... This is the reason why despite all the available talent, a name like Ighalo keeps coming up.
A #9's job is not just about scoring but by constantly exploiting the half space between the two center-backs, while playing with his back to goal. Doing that poaching movement effectively, will make the opposition's defensive Midfielders to drop deeper automatically and thus create space for the second striker or attacking Midfielder to operate.
Nobody was doing that in this game... all the players are ball carriers (speed reliant or dribblers), which is a technical deficiency in a team, if everyone is just a speedy ball carrier.
The good thing is that Eguavoen played according to the strengths of this team, he used the teams speed and ball carrying to his advantage, basically everybody attacked, and everybody defended.
But Ideally, The super eagles need's a traditional #9 (Basically technical movement that can force opposition center-backs and clinical finishing for chances created) not just a ball carrying forward.
Moses Simon is fast but not Technical... he was able to beat defenders but his choices after beating a player were poor.
Chuwueze would function more if a Number 9 could make movements that would give him more space, he did well but he didn't have a performance that we know he can deliver.
Ndidi is just a Legend! I don't want anything more or anything less from him at AFCON.
I was Impressed with Okoye's distribution in this game... however he wasn't tested so I can't say much about his actual save rate. Regardless he has a clean sheet.
Zaidu and Ola Aina were solid, attack participation and defence duty were checked.
Troost needs to maintain this form, he was completely solid and made no errors.
Omeruo was solid, but his injury... I hope he is OK.
Ejuke needs more play time, and if he is given more playing time he needs to be encouraged to cross often when he makes those defense splitting runs.
I am of the Opinion that Iheanacho should work more on his (Right) weaker foot, some opportunities he had should have been with his weaker foot.
Joe Aribo pairs well with Ndidi...
We won't get the best out of Iwobi if there is no proper #9
I expect Nwakali to have more playing time
Awoniyi although a good ball carrying center forward, is not a traditional 9, (His "off the ball movements" tell the story) however he pairs well with Iheanacho.
My overall analysis is that this team has a lot of talent but also a major technical issue, however I like the fact that Unlike Rohr who would have stuck to a default system despite the technical problem, Eguavoen played to the strengths of the players he has. for example regardless of the fact you are a defender, if you have the speed to sprint up and shoot and sprint back quickly to defend, oya then Do it!
and they did it well.... Point of correction. Awoniyi’s ball movement created the space for Iheanacho to score. Besides, he is a natural striker and that’s were he scored 14 goals this season...,I mean this season alone in the top 5 best leagues in Europe. Off mic! |

Indeed he's also an Afcon debutant.
But I think the WC experience of Iheanacho and his long term stay in the team since late 2015 gives him that experience edge over Awo and Sadiq on the overall. No doubt. Iheanacho is the most experienced among the lot but I just wanted to clarify that AFCON green horn aspect. |

TheSuperNerd: Afcon greenhorns. Meaning they don't have Afcon experience. This would be their first tournament and either of them could have the responsibility of leading the lines in attack if Iheanacho is not considered.
Awoniyi's last big tournament experience for the GWG was at the U23 Afcon in 2015 and also at the U23 Afcon in 2019.
Sadiq's was at the Rio Olympics in 2016.
Hope you understand. Understood. You should have added Iheanacho to the group if it’s about AFCON because this is also his first time. |

TheSuperNerd: Missing Osimhen (Our Biggest Gun & 1st Choice Striker), Onuachu (Our 2nd Choice Striker) and Dennis (one of the most inform forwards in the EPL) is a big blow but the fact that we still have an attack personnel boasting Iheanacho and inform Sadiq and Awo alongside the attacking wingers show how much depth in quality we have upfront from a potential POV.
The only worry is that certain camp reports say Awo hasn't exactly lit things up with goals and that Sadiq, although have scored haven't actually bagged as much as expected.
So yes, your concerns are valid because Awo and Sadiq are indeed Afcon greenhorns but I believe Sadiq can draw from his experience as a 19 yrs old back at the 2016 Rio Olympics where he led the lines in attack.
I expect the likes of Chukwueze, Ejuke, Aribo, Iwobi, Iheanacho and even Simon to an extent to help carry the goals and creative burden of the team alongside our Midfield set-up which includes the third-latter mentioned.
In defence, I wouldn't mind any of Ekong or Omeruo as partners to Awaziem. My only concern is that I hope Eguavoen installs Awaziem as first choice CB. If that is so, then his partner would likely be Ekong on the virtue of him being second captain.
Some reports do say Ekong is the most dribbled-past defender in training even in Garoua but I would not blame him. You cannot be facing Chukwueze, Ejuke and Onyekuru and not get megged every now and then.
Infact, Ekong will face not much Dazzling Winger threats (apart from Salah perhaps) bigger than what he faces in training against 2 of the baddest winger talents on the continent (Chukwueze and Ejuke). Lollll
So if I have my way, it would be Awaziem-Omeruo pair at CB in a four man backline but it's likely to be Ekong-Awaziem or don't be shocked, Ekong-Omeruo (Eguavoen could go with Omeruo's tournament experience dating back to Afcon 2013 and up till Afcon 2019. Tournaments where he was really outstanding).
Lastly, on the GKs... I know Okoye may not inspire much confidence for now in the mind of some of us but he is the Number 1 and his last few games for Sparta showed a lad in improved form. Uzoho also has been good for Omonia and his PK stopping has gotten better. He did it in the Uefa ECL and has been doing it decently in Camp.
But bear in mind, it was Uzoho who spilled that Nwakali freekick in that training video which Onyekuru pounced on and scored. Game ended 2-nil in favour of Nwakali’s team. Moses Simon scored the other after being set up by Chukwueze.
So you see, at this point... The two goalies still have their sore points and I would be very okay with either in Goal. But I wouldn't mind Okoye continuing in goal. Time will tell. Green horns!? What do you mean by that? Please, explain. |

Mujtahida: It's total mindfuck. Through Adam we became sinner not because we did anything ooo. Just by being born as a human being. Then they said christ came and died and created a new order for man but the catch here is that unlike what happened through Adam in which we all automatically become sinners, we do not automatically share this new life of Christ. No we have to first believe and have faith in the finished work of Christ before we partake of this new life. Shey you see the ojoro. They do not see that just as in Adam, people are sinners when they are born, so also once a child is born, he should be sinless now that christ has paid the price. But we all know it's not so. If it is so, how would pastors chop from this whole thriving business of sin, church and Christianity?
They will come and say that the things of the spirit are not carnally discerned. Abeg out of respect for the faith of people, let me drop this topic jeje if not... It's actually so but you MUST believe it is actually so before it will be counted as righteousness as said in the scripture. Remember, there is no unrighteousness with God. |

If I am even looking for the best exemplars of peace, I won't look at Christians. I will look at Buddhist monks The only peace that can come to man is when he can have right relationship with God but you can't have right relationship with Him outside of Him. Most Christians think when they go to church, read bible, tithe, fast, etc they are having right relationship with God but unfortunately, they are not because to have right relationship with God, you must be in Him in the first place. To be in Him, you must be Holy because God is holy and light in Him there is no darkness at all. |
