Kazikazi: have you seen the different btn south Africa(gautrain) and Nigerian trains? I believe you Nigerians can match south Africa very soon.sorry kenyans I think South Africa gautrain is the only Standard gauge railway system in South Africa and it is just 80km. They operate metrorail which runs on the old outdated Cape gauge. Gautrain is a commuter rail that was built to ease the congestion on Pretoria - Johannesburg highway. It is electrical and can run at 160km/hour. We are building standard gauge railway for commuter rail from Lagos- Kano which is around 1,238 km at 120-130km/hrs. Of which Abuja- Kaduna segment has been completed and operational. The Lagos -Ibadan segment will be operational in December and it will bring the total length of the standard gauge railway project to 343km. The Itakpe-Warri standard gauge railway has been completed. It is around 230km. The 1,402km Lagos- Calabar standard gauge railway project will commence soon. This standard gauge railway project is beside the existing and functional cape gauge railway system spanning 3,300km, light rail system in Abuja, monorail in port Harcourt/Calabar and the metro system (which does not exist in South Africa) in Lagos either completed or under construction. |

Yobeezy: You're not even getting what am saying. Am talking about the total distance between Mombasa and Malabar which is something to close 900km and the total cost for constructing the SGR amounted to 8 billion dollars as per cost that was laid down by the government. The sgr construction is in phases here like now the Nairobi naivasha project is 75% complete, next is naivasha kisumu then to Malabar. So I don't see any point of arguing blindly here cause you people took a lot of money to build the sgr because of the distance yet it still looks ugly than that of Kenya's.
Don't try to compare Nairobi with Abuja in this aspects. Technology. Tourism. Destination for top global diplomatic offices like UN and big multi national firms. Number of skycrappers. Retail sectors. Infrastructure interms of roads and world class airport. Destination for investment opportunities among foreign firms. Hospitality. No.of global chain brand hotels. etc
Furthermore,Nairobi is the 6th wealthiest city in Africa after Durban,Lagos,Cairo, cape town and Johannesburg respectively..
Better talk of Lagos now not Abuja. Let me get you. How much did it cost Kenya to build 465 km standard gauge railway from Nairobi- Mombasa? Answer is $3.6b(see first snapshot). Answer. Yes or no. How much will it cost to complete the 490 standard gauge railway project of Nairobi to Malabar? Answer is $7b (see second snapshot). Answer Right or wrong. How much will it cost Kenya to build 955km standard gauge railway from Mombasa- Malabar? $3.6b + $7b= $10.6b. Answer Right or wrong. Meanwhile, we are going to use $12b to build 1,402km Lagos-Calabar standard gauge railway. Lagos - Kano standard gauge railway project which is approximately 1,238km(in other reports, it is estimated to be 2,773km) will cost $8.3b. $2.4b is used to complete the 187km Abuja- Kaduna and 156km Lagos Ibadan standard gauge railway which is just 343km. Unlike, Kenya using $1.5b to build 120km Nairobi - Naivasha segment+see second snapshot) and $3.7b to build 262km Naivasha - Kisumu segment (see third snapshot). Chai Who took lots of money to build sgr here btw Kenya's thiefing government and Nigeria thiefing government? E be like say Kenya government na oga for stealing public funds here yet the mumu citizens are blind to see. I am coming back to address ya Kenya Vs Abuja aspect.

rvp2018: Mombasa-Malaba is more than 1000kms. I think building a railway is not an end to itself - it should make transport faster and cheaper - and in Kenya's operational section - it's already doing that - and we are on the 8th year projection in year 1- running more than 8 cargo trains - doing two trips each - and 4 passenger trains - at about half the cost. We are also seeing similar benefit in Mombasa port - which surely now only trails Durbain in efficiency. That is good for Kenya and mother Africa but blackmailing and painting Nigeria bad by Kenyans here is unacceptable. |

Taraby: 1. Removed Oresanya LAWMA boss, sacked LASAA boss, sacked LAMATA boss, disorganized LASEB, disorganized LAWMA, public works, changed KAI to LAGESC. Oga calm down, he no listen.
2. Sacked over 25000 staff of Lawma in one day and introduced Visionscape that was dead on arrival.
3. Sacked Alausa Chaplain because the wife was not first to take holy communion.
4.Increased Toll fees and property tax.
5. Treating electorates with disdain. No communication and accessibility.
6. Abandoning the Lagos healthcare plan.
7. Dilapidated infrastructure.
8. Unconcern to traffic gridlock
9. Disengaged almost 300 health volunteers who have put five years of their lifetime into volunteering for Lagos state primary healthcare system. Stepped into data gathering and management. They have become experts in the data system. Sack them just because FASHOLA recruited them.
10. Nobody could reach him to advise him. Till today Oga Ade is yet to provide land for National Housing project despite Fashola’s plea as minister of Housing.. 30 states have.
11. He is personally vindictive of anyone that criticizes him.
12. He threw the mother of the former National Legal adviser out of his house because he opposed him.
13. He threw more than 5000 street sweeper and refuse worker off their job gave to a new company Lagos was spending N300m on waste now it N930m yet the whole place is dirty,
14. His commissioners cannot call. He does not pick calls except he calls them.
15. Projects they send to him are only approved if his cronies are given the jobs even when they are not qualified since they did not bid.
16. He has only constructed One bridge at Abule-egba and has massive road projects, what of housing, what of health, what of school, what of job/employment creation.
17. The flood and traffic in Lagos and potholes everywhere is because as the practice he refused to release fund for drain clearance since he does not have cronies willing to do it,
18. He gave all the road projects to one contractor that is now overwhelmed.
19. Lagos exco meeting used to take 12 hrs and continue next day but now its 3-4 hours because he listens to no idea or arguments, all he say is “who is Governor”.
20. Lagos is about continuity so why abandon all the projects left by Fashola like Badagry expressway, the Light rail Project, Housing projects…Fashola gave jobs to party members depending on their competency.
21. Fashola never used siren but Ambode closes road if he wants to pass causing pains and traffic.
22. He has made himself governor of Epe while he did commendable well in touching Epe his hometown, but it was too lopsided and he and his cronies flaunt it.
23.Removal of Commissioner Ganiyu Johnson (works) TP Anifiwose (Physical planning) because they disagreed with him on a process. They are party men since 1999, building the party, people and policies, he joined APC in July 2014
24. At loggerheads with all party elders on whose shoulder he was hoisted on us in 2014. A lot more i hear but i will stop here……Now it is not TINUBU, it’s the party elders and members and for the growth of our party they said let’s go for primaries.
Let nobody pity him cos he is the architect of his problems. That light rail na em pain me pass. |

Are they commercially viable towns that will attract lots of passenger, apart from Warri that is almost dead economically. Igbanke, Agbor, Abraka, Uromu etc Don't forget, it will extend to Abuja. |

deomelo: The speed is neck breaking and unseen in the history of Nigeria.
Fact is, anything is possible, you just need credible, competent and honest people with ZERO appetite for looting project funds and thank God for Nigerians, the only appetite they have in this administration is project completion and delivery. Honestly, I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw it for the first time. I thought, so railway project can be executed at lightning speed. Seeing this and other projects executed, bros, my brain reset to vote for APC and Buhari. Though I am still not happy with the herdman killings but I know PDP failed woefully in this regard too. Anyway, all things are possible with honest politicians. Unlike, PDP and GEJ them whose appetite for looting are out of this world. Sai Buhari Jo! |
