Mujtahida: I feel our team is not balanced. We play more to the right than to the left. Fact is we have too many right footed players than left footed players in this team. As a nation we seem to be predominantly right footed hence our difficulties in producing LB and LWF. Since Amunike I'm not sure we've had a natural LWF. An analysis by Solace Chukwu on medium (@oddsolace you guys can check him out) posits that 8 out of 12 goals scored during the WCQ (he wrote this before our last WCQ against Algeria) came as a result of build up from the right flank, 2 from the middle and two from the left. This is not too healthy in my estimation. Yes a team should play to its strength but at the same time our strength is too obvious and that can possibly make it easy for tactically astute teams to dismantle us
Please let's analyse this issue Cc Mickael2, Kog45, MetalJigsaw, elyte89, Icon4s, tbaba1234, Joebie, goodjoe, Taliban, forgiveness, komekn, ChrisKels, Chrismario, kennysville, kingphilip, soetanoreoluwa, safarigirl, Icon79, Napoleon55, realpoacher, jotey, sontoly, Daejoyoung, nelszx, somehow and all on this thread If we are looking for a natural left winger, Sheyi Ojo and Sone Aluko are natural LW and we know they are very good. But in this era right footed players play on the LW while left footed players play on the RW. Ronaldo is right footed but he plays on the LW while Messi at the early stage of his career played on the RW. Ahmed Musa, Tega Etebor, Moses Simon, Alex Iwobi, Henry Onyekuru and Ademola Lookman are LWs while Victor Moses, Sone Aluko and Sheyi Ojo are RW.. If I am asked to choose two each for these positions, I will naturally choose Ahmed Musa and Moses Simon for the LW while I choose Victor Moses and Sone Aluko for the RW. The reason I will not choose Alex Iwobi is because I consider him an AM, therefore, I will deploy him in the SS role. Why I choosed Ahmed ahead of Onyekuru is because he is more experienced and also dangerous on that wing but if he doesn't get enough playing time prior to the WC then I will replace him with Etebor or Onyekuru. Simon Moses is ahead of Etebor and Onyekuru. It is very natural I choose Victor Moses because he is almost the best in Africa. Sone Aluko is more experienced than Sheyi Ojo hence my choice to pick him ahead of Sheyi Ojo. It is not as if Sheyi ojo is not good enough. If Sone Aluko is not available I will choose him. |

Eligreat247: Yes that's true. in a friendly match in 2011 (if my memory serves me right). They rather fielded their B team and got humiliated 4-1. They later arranged another friendly and field their major team that walloped us silly (can't remember the score line)
Am sure he actually meant to say the first coach to beat Argies main Team... They called it team B but the Argentina coach disagreed and even boasted he will flog us with his team. So, it safe to say na Argentina we flog 4-1 not Team B. In the rematch they flogged us 3-1 but na we win on aggregation. |

Taliban: Wonderful and good job. Yes Seyi isn't a defender but your only brother here has suggested we try him at Left back. Afterall Ashley Young and Valencia were forward players turned defenders. Where is the mercurial Raheem Lawal in your team, what about Kayode as well. If Echejile playing in Turkey can make the team why not Aneke and you completely bewildered me by leaving out one of the best Nigeria born midfielders in recent times, Ryan Sanusi. Why is Musa competing with Ajagun ?? Ajagun that plays regularly for Musa, Musa who is a forward and hasn't even featured for ordinary Leicester in a while, haba. I have already modified my post. My friend, if I want Raheem Lawal then Jonh Ogu must go out because I know Raheem Lawal is more versatile than him. And if I want Kayode then Martins must go out but I think Martins is better than him. If I want Agajun then Sone Aluko must drop but Sone Aluko is a better quality than him. However, my point is, a coach must have ready made options to replace injured players. |

Taliban: After reading a lot of pages here and also a long and hard thought. I have come to the conclusion that these players should be the ones to go t the world cup. Goal Keepers Vincent Enyeama Dele Aiyenugba Dele Alampasu Defenders Ola Aina Seyi Ojo Dominic Iorfa Efe Ambrose Thiago Ilori Mosis Odubanjo Midfield Hope Akpan Jude Aneke Raheem Lawal Abdul Ajagun Mikel Obi Joel Obi Josh Onomah Ryan Sanusi Attackers Obafemi Martins Ike Uche Fred Onyedinma Kayode Sone Aluko and Adegbenro
Standby Ovie Ejaria Chuba Akpom
If we can present this guys who are the best leagues imagine what we will achieve. There's still time to get them to blend together, right now these are the best we have as we can only take 23 players to the world cup.
The staring eleven should look like this Enyeama Ola Aina Thiago Ilori Efe Ambrose Sheyi Ojo Abdul Ajagun Josh Onomah Raheem Lawal Kayode Martins Ik Uche
Mikel will be coming in as an impact sub and that would really tilt the games in our favor. Also there is Jude Aneke, Adegbenro and Joel Obi too who can come in from the bench.
I had to unfortunately drop Onazi, Ndidi and even Victor Mosis, even though they are very good players who the stats for Aneke, Raheem Lawal, Abdul Ajagun and Onoha are extremely difficult to ignore. You need to see how Kayode won the best player in Austria and how great a game Fred Onyedima had against Man City that's why I had to drop Victor Mosis. Go Nigeria!!!!!!!!! I hope you trying to mock some players due to your limited knowledge about their abilities? However, I will ask some few questions. Is Vincent Enyeama a wack player? Who is most consistent goalkeeper in Europe this season? If none don't you think Dele Aiyenugba deserves a call? Is Dele Alampasu bad? In defence, you included only 6 defenders instead of 8. Now add Leon Balogun and Troost to the defence. We still have to remove Moses Odubanjo and Sheyi Ojo because the former may not be fit prior to the WC while the later is not a defender. Are you not aware? Their talents is never in question. Tiago Iloriand Dominic Ihorfa have not been approached but if they pledged to play for us na na, they will surely make my team. Hence, my DF will be Leon Balogun Troost Ekong Tyrone Ebuehi Elderson Echiejile Brian Idowu Ola Aina Tiago Ilori Next is the Midfield Just remove Hope Akpan, Jude Aneke and Ryan Sanusi for Ndidi, Ogu and Onazi and we have a compact midfield. Pls, take note that I still rate Jude Aneke highly but his club his a big disadvantage. MF Mikel Obi Joel Obi Onazi ogenyi Wilfred Ndidi Josh Onomah John Ogu AT Obafemi Martins Odion Ighalo Alex Iwobi kelechi Iheanacho Sone Aluko Victor Moses Simon Moses That is just how I want the team. |

junnyjake: Well, this is where Komekn's logic comes to play, if you find yourself in a lower league, strive to be one of the shiny lights there, so you can get attention of teams from the bigger leagues. As a midfielder, scoring 5 goals already is an impressive stat, and if you end the season with 15, then you've done well. You also need to look at the quality of goals as well.
When you have limited time to play in the Serie A and that doesn't deter you from scoring, then you're special. Don't forget, you can't compare the quality of defense in the Serie A to that of Norway. So if you're playing against serious opponents, your mind would tilt towards the Serie A player.
If a striker in Serie A isn't scoring, and he's playing regularly, you ask, does he wastes chances? how clinical is he? How many assists does he have to his name? What's his contributions to the team? Has his positioning been great? Has he been unlucky with the bars or brilliant goal keeping? if your answers are in the -ve, then it'd be a no brainer embracing your goal scoring Belgian league player. Now somebody is talking. Your second and third paragraph are spot on and this is what I have been talking since time immemorial. Thumbs up. |

komekn: An objective based argument is one that is based on proven facts, authoritative and substantive facts not prejudice.
What are the facts
1) The EPL is rated Number 1 or 2 in the world depending which respected and or authoritative ratings body you make reference too.
https://www.uefa.com/memberassociations/uefarankings/country/ http://bleacherreport.com/articles/1458287-ranking-the-top-20-world-football-leagues-statistically http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2836244/Premier-League-emerges-best-world-following-Sportsmail-s-depth-study-global-football.html http://bleacherreport.com/articles/786046-power-ranking-the-top-30-leagues-in-europe https://howtheyplay.com/team-sports/10-Reasons-Why-All-The-World-Loves-The-EPL
2) Ratings are not absolutes but indicators for informed projection to be made. Using the baseline data, is it prejudice to rate a league higher in a far higher rated league because that's what you call it.
3) The ratings of a league and a top team in that league have an impact on the player rating as well , is that what you call prejudice
4) A methodology based on performance measurements devoid of personal subjective and emotive preferences is what clubs use around the world to identify players in the first instance. That is what you call prejudice
5) What these methodical objective based assessments highlight in the world context is how far the Chines league has come up and how high some of the south American leagues are.
6) In the 1990's like other things our domestic leagues were strong and there was not a mad dash to leave Nigeria. That is a complete irreverent comparison as things stand now and have been for over 10 years, your statement is totally misleading, WHY Consider that ; Amokachi was at Brugge and the stand out player before going to Everton. Yekini was the top goal scorer in the Portuguese league, 2015 I was at Sporting Braga the then sporting Director Augustino was still talking about him with amazement. For goodnes sake Amunike was at Sporting L then went on to Barcelona. I really do not need to talk about the Ajax boys of Finidi, Oliseh, Kanu and later Tijani. In comparison our current set of players are actually very badly under achieving our player of that era were in the top clubs and leagues of Europe. So what on earth is your point you are giving credence to show yourself as being bigoted and having unjustifiable animosity emanating from prejudice.
7) Lets have an elementary lesson , what is prejudice preconceived opinion that is not based on reason or actual experience What do you know about English football How many EPL and English league coaches and managers do you now How many coaching sessions have you watched and or coached, how many players do you know, live games watched, etc , etc
My primary area of experiential knowledge and understanding is English football, it is not prejudice but specialism. Yes I speak to people in the Eredivisie not managers mainly coaches and recruiters. But i would not proffer their opinions here and therefore reluctant to make in depth commentary on their players beyond the basics.
9) It was alleged that i do not consider players outside of the EPL , which is not true. I gave credence by giving examples of numerous players who left League 1 straight into the EPL. But with the proviso that they should be outstanding in team and league as the justification for a call up.
10) It is methodical and objective to consider players in a far higher league as being superior on average. That is not prejudice , but measurable and proven fact all things being equal or generally speaking. Of course there will be exceptions. The Eredivisie is ranked over 10 places below the EPL that is a huge gulf. Is it therefore not feasible to rank the Eredivisie on par or even lower than the English Championship and in that regard the Norwegian league which is 30 places below on par or much lower than League 1. Is that prejudice or methodical comparison measurement
11)The highest goals to game ratio in European leagues, is in the Eredivisie who often manage over 3 goals per game. But what does that say about a league where goals come so cheaply Form your own opinion.
Finally, can the vitriolic, antagonistic, spiteful and rancorous rhetoric stop as some of us sound like a bitter woman scorned on her wedding day left holding the flowers with no bridegroom We can agree to disagree, i am not part of the NFF and would never be officially, all i give are opinions. Respect. Right on point. |

Agali is Eagles’ chief scout for Russia 2018
OKOGBA
Super Eagles coach, Gernot Rohr has listed former striker, Victor Agali as his chief scout going to the 2018 FIFA World Cup tournament in Russia.
https://cdn.vanguardngr.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/11/Victor-Agali.png Victor Agali
Rohr who guided the Super Eagles to a highly successful qualification campaign told Nice news outlet Nice-Martin that Agali’s contribution to the campaign was priceless, hence his decision to retain him for the World Cup.
Agali worked with Rohr throughout the qualifiers in the capacity of scouting opposition teams and helping identify Nigerian players abroad.
Agali played under Rohr at French side OGC Nice in the 2004-2005 season, scoring six goals in 30 appearances.
It is understood that Rohr is looking at the possibilities of engaging more ex-internationals to enable him build a formidable team for the country ahead of the World Cup in Russia 2018.
https://www.vanguardngr.com/2017/11/agali-eagles-chief-scout-russia-2018/amp/ Why is Rohr looking for another scout? Where are those scouts that discovered Nwakali in Norway? Has he lost faith in dem after recommended ebu for him? |

junnyjake: I deserve a place in Rohr’s World Cup team –Ebuehi
https://www.ripplesnigeria.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/11/tyronne.jpg
Dutch-born Ado Den Haag right-back Tyronne Ebuehi believes his display during the Argentina friendly would convince Nigeria coach Gernot Rohr that he is worthy of joining his team to the World Cup.
The 21-year-old, who made his international debut in a 3-0 friendly win over Togo on June after switching his allegiance from Holland to Nigeria, was fielded in the 4-2 defeat of Argentina in a friendly affair in Russia a week ago.
Ebuehi came on as a 46th minute substitute and stamped his authority on the match within moments of his introduction by nullifying the threat of Paris Saint-Germain star Angel Di Maria.
The Haarlem-born defender expressed his delight at having the opportunity of playing against one of the best players in the world.
“I played against Angel Di Maria, a great player of course, and I cannot quite realise that I can play against him,’’ Ebuehi was quoted by voetbalprimeur.nl as saying at the weekend.
“Defensively, I stood my ground, and offensively I tried to do as much as possible, and it all went well, I think.”
Now, the player, who has a Nigerian father and a Dutch mother, says having proved his class in the clash against the star-studded Argentine side, he should be considered for a spot in Rohr’s World Cup squad.
“All of a sudden you play against world stars, normally you see them on TV or you play them with FIFA on the computer,” Ebuehi was quoted by Dutch outlet NOS as saying on Monday.
He believes his trademark speedy runs down the right flank, which have helped him cement a regular starting spot at ADO Den Haag, would help the Eagles in Russia.
“I think it (playing against Argentina) went well, I have a lot of speed and I try to get a lot of the ball,” Ebuehi told NOS.
“I think I left a good impression, it would be nice, that I play at the World Cup next year.” RipplesNigeria… without borders, without fears I wonder if hatred will abound towards Ebuehi once dey know I am among the first person to put him on the radar. I saw how many told me he is not good enough or he is not SE material. The rest is history. Let me use this media to inform the audience here that out of the 4 players that emerged in the Eredivise then , I only singled out Ehizibue and Ebuehi. Dis two seems to be from two different tribes. I be from 4 tribes? |

We know he must have written articles on newspapers, blogs and even given presentations on TV to prove his point without any resistance as the constitution granted him freedom but here we are, he suddenly became an advocate of those who are guilty of the same crime and a persecutor against those whom he perceives as ego busters to na we sabi ball pass. Oga, maintain or I show your report cards to the world that you're a big time ............ |

Mujtahida: I hate to go down this road but I have to: Amaju Pinnick is from Delta State, the first vice president of the NFF S. Akinwummi as well the NFF media officer Toyin Ibitoye are yoruba. The second vice president is Shehu Dikko from the North. Rohr has three Nigerian Coaches Salisu Yusuf from the North, Amapakabo is an okrika man, Alloy Agu is Igbo.
So if a Yoruba man is crying that yoruba players are not given a chance(and it's so clear now to me that that is what it is) does he know better than S. Akinwummi and Toyin Ibitoye who are in a position to influence things?
We have the strange case of Uche Agbo who has been invited for almost a year now without even a single game time. Nobody talks about him. Even the press is silent about him. Yet it's like the guy is a patient man waiting for his opportunity.
Rohr doesn't invite Kayode, wahala. He invites him even more wahala.
It makes me sad when accusations of tribalism begins to be made against this team.
If the teams likes let it be populated by gworo [sup][/sup]chewing abokis. Just play good football and win games. To hell with whatever tribe. My emphasises have always been harmmered on performance and not equal representative of tribes. That, I have tried to justify with proven facts. Is that difficult to perceive or understand? If players neglected happen to be from one particular tribe and are performing well, does it matters if one advocate for them? Does it make ones campaign a call for equal representation of ethnic groups in the SE even when it is clear they are better than some players in the SE? Does it matter who and where the advocate comes from? Is Komen seeking equal representation of ethnic groups by voicing out for Aluko, Martins, Onomah, Tammy etc? Is he a tribal bigot? Focus on the message and not the messenger so doing, you can have a sound reasoning. |

Daejoyoung: We can't call everybody, maybe an Aluko though, but Ademola's position is a competitive one in the SE at the moment. He can only be called if he is clearly better than what we have already. I agree we need Aluko though cos we need more creative midfielders. We can. |

tbaba12345: Rohr must be from Uzoho's village. Nepotism Alloy Agu is the goalkeeper trainer. |

junnyjake: None of my tribesmen had ever played for the NT. Should I now gather my kinsmen, assemble ourselves in front of the Lagos lagoon taking a leap one after another crying marginalization??
The closest player I'd say we ever had was Stephen Odey, but how many times have you seen me pushing for his callup? I care about performances not representation from different ethnic groups of the country. People calling people names are the people that will prefer a mediocre player ahead of a performing one so long na em tribes man. Tell me any player I have mentioned here that is not based on performance. Na dere you go fear naija. |
