Jay254: Below are the first two pics of Ibadan and Kisumu respectively when you Google them online.. withought filtering. Somebody posted the pictures and it doesn't determine what is on ground in Ibadan. I have lived there, so I know what I am talking about. The pictures of what you are seeing there are pictures of the old city built around 15 century or thereabouts. Places like Beere, Oje etc. There are many other areas that are better planned with basic infrastructures. The CBD is the first of its kind in Sub Sahara Africa. We have bodija, Jericho, Iyaganku etc. These areas alone will swallow Kisumu best development and will still remains best porch areas. Ibadan real Estate is number 4 in Nigeria after Lagos, Abuja and Port Harcourt. The industries in Ibadan alone is more than what you can imagine. Bring it on and show me the amenities on ground in Kisumu and I will overwhelm you with the infrastructures on ground in Ibadan. Kenya government knows the importance of taking good pictures as a tourist destination country hence the well taken pictures of beautiful places in Kenya but our government doesn’t know what effect pictures will only bring to the table. |

Diani Kenya is full of Germans while Kilifi,Watamu and malindi is full of Italians.. The reason could be the presence of mother nature in Kenya. |

Besides, the FCTA are now seriously working on integrating the low income abuja satelite towns to Abuja municipal by serious infrastructural upgrade. That's cool. So, what are works on ground? |

Nowenuse: Seriously, Lagos is developing faster than Africa.
I am scared that very soon, Lagos state would be worth half of Nigeria or West Africa. We must not let that happen. This is why other Nigerian states must wake up!
States like Rivers, Anambra, Kano, Oyo are very promising financially though. I wonder why Ogun state is not maximizing it's proximity to Lagos state for mind blowing development. @bolded state past and present are/were shortsighted. |

Hbuyosh: The problem with u Nigerians is that u detrmine cities in terms of size rather than the quality of of the infrastructure or amenities. That is why we see u lots making such shallow arguments about a place like Kaduna or Ibadan being better than the smaller Kenyan cities cos.......of all the reasons, they boast of populations of upwards of a 1mln! That is quite bewildering.
Kenya does not have that many cities with the populations of over a million clike Nigeria cos 1. It has a much slimmer population and 2. Typical of any developing country, most Kenyans dwell inthe rural arras. The percentage of the population living in the urban arras is roughly equivalent to that of Nigeria. 35% of Kenyans are urban dwellers whilst it's around 40% in Nigeria.
Eldoret is more than just athletes, it is a major tourist, agricultural, industrial and communication centrPop. around 500,000. Take a glance of the town below. Quality of amenities, and you think Ibadan or other Nigeria's cities don't have quality amenities!? List the quality amenities Kisumu or Eldoret have that Ibadan doesn't have. Is there any? |

GERALD710: Dude 1.Port Harcourt basically....Stinks. The place smells of fish and crude everywhere. Please do not say it is because of the oil industry.Mombasa has a refinery and imports pertoleum products for the entire region and does not smell like that. 2.Can you show even a single beach on Port Harcourt. And I mean a beach, not a sand collection site like virtually all beaches in West Africa, save for Senegal ,look like. Because they are all composed of rough yellow sand, the one used in construction. Ours are made of sugar white soft powdery coral sand The place is all mangrove(which we have in Mombasa, in creeks, not at the beach. And the beaches are littered everywhere!!
3.Port Harcourt has better transport facilities than Mombasa. That I very much agree!!Mombasa does not have a mono rail. However, the road system is currently being upgraded and so is the commuter rail system. But on an estate level, Port Harcourt is a big FAIL.Most estates are covered with dirt roads.Mombasa as of 2015, is more than 70% carbopaved 4. Port Harcourt has better health amenities than Mombasa Lawd!!!In Nigeria, not even Lagos measures up to Mombasa in terms of health facilities, leave alone Nairobi.Nigeria's health sector both public and private is CRAAAAAAAAP!!! 5.Port Harcourt has better city and more highrise than Mombasa. The last two pages showed 25 highrise already top up with others already on ground. Pls, take note that highrise is defined as structure with 12 and about floors. No it does not.Who told you Mombasa's high rises are concentrated in the CBD alone Port Harcourt has better vibrant Estates than Mombasa.} HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!Woooooi!!I actually come from Mombasa, we live side by side Arabs,Swahilis,Coastal Africans,Asians and more recently, Europeans like the Brits ,Italians and Germans. Port Harcourt is dominated by one community, the Ijaw followed by Ibos, all dark skinned fellows, making the place look boring and very very very very very very very!!! Poor English!!! Port Harcourt has better Sport amenities than Mombasa . Yes it does. Our staduim construction has been delayed for several years now. Port Harcourt has more refineries than Mombasa You mean refineries that have not been working since the 1970s Dude, who are you trying to fool We all know Nigeria has been importing fuel despite it being a crude oil producer. The entire Africa knows!!! We had a functioning refinery until 2013 and according to the BBC, West African fuel is 'Dirty fuel' imported from Europe. The fuel in East Africa is actually the cleanest on the continent!! We actually made several reformes in 2005 where we banned dirty fuel.Meanwhile even plastic bottles in Nigeria are not safe!!http://www.bbc.com/news/world-africa-37373414 As for Industries in Mombasa.Mombasa is the second most industrialised city in Kenya and the third in East Africa. A simple google search gives you 3000 resultshttps://www.google.com/search?q=Mombasa+Industries&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&client=firefox-b#q=Mombasa+Industries&rflfq=1&rlha=0&rllag=-4060012,39656432,940&tbm=lcl&rldimm=6504144230609431674&tbs=lrf:!2m1!1e2!2m1!1e3!3sEAE,lf:1,lf_ui:2 So what are you talking about Mombasa has the largest Dockyard on the continent after Durban. We actually do ship repairs here!!
Port Harcourt has better public schools than Mombasa Lawd!!!At no point has Nigeria's public school system ever been superior to that of Kenya at primary or secondary level.https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Education_Index So No. Plus Mombasa's public schooling is waaaaaay above even that of most Nigerian cities. Leave alone Port Harcourt. 1, how do you know Port Harcourt smells of crude and fish everywhere? Because the last time I went there, it has an aroma of Korea. 2, is there beach in Paris? But how come it is one of the most beautiful country in the world? 3, Good you agreed on the transportation aspect, but How do you know Port Harcourt is filled with dirty roads? 4, please, show me the pictures of public health centres in Mombasa. Make we see. Pictures don't lie. 5, how many highrise is in Mombasa? Please, prove it with a reliable source or pinktures. But for now Port Harcourt has more than 28 highrise. 6, Bhuuuhahaha! Port Harcourt is among the cities in Nigeria oyinbo walking updan. Those people you see in Mombasa are likely citizens of Kenya. Na normal things. 7, who told you the Refineries has stopped working? Is Mombasa's Refinery function? Because your statement suggested it doesn't. 8, I will come to industries later? |

Marcelo290: Those pictures of Port Harcourt are really dope and beautiful, I just hope the projects are completed cos one of our problems is abandoned projects due to successive change of government. That will be suicidal. The reason I said Port Harcourt should be compared with Mombasa is because I have been to the city myself and I have taken Ghanaian, Ivorien, Korean etc to the city, it left them with very good impressions. It was unimaginable that such city exit in the Nigeria they heard of the media. The Ivorien was blown away, the Ghanaian called it europe while the Korean rated it above Lagos (but me I no gree that one ooo) though admitted Lagos na father. The city is beautiful with wider roads, restaurants, boutiques, hotels are littered allover the city. etc |

Jay254: I have said here athousand Times no one believes Nigerian figures,
Look at this way PH has almost 2m ppl while mombasa has 1.2m Both have 1000 dolla Milionairs dispite the population Mombasa has way bigger port than PH Mombasa has way better City, more Highrise than PH Mombasa is way more multicultured more industrialised than Ph
Nairobi on the other hand has a population of 3.5m while Lagos has over 10m Nairobi has 6200 dolla millionairs while lagos has 9100 take note of the population and the difference.
Nigerian Central Govt had same Budget as Kenyan Central govt at 22b dollas.
So I do not trust those Nigerian crap Hahahahahah! Let us look at this this way Port Harcourt has better and complete transportation system and amenities than Mombasa e.g better airport, Mono rail, Inter - city rail, sea Port, bridges and good road network. Port Harcourt has better public health amenities than Mombasa. Port Harcourt has better city and more highrise than Mombasa. The last two pages showed 25 highrise already top up with others already on ground. Pls, take note that highrise is defined as structure with 12 and about floors. Port Harcourt has better vibrant Estates than Mombasa. Port Harcourt has better Sport amenities than Mombasa Port Harcourt has more refineries than Mombasa Port Harcourt has better public schools than Mombasa I don't know much about the numbers of industries in Mombasa but I can tell you Port Harcourt has many industries. Check this and give me the link to industries in Mombasa. http://www.businesslist.com.ng/category/industrial-services/city:port-harcourtI will provide pictures of gigantic manufacturing companies latter. |
