Hbuyosh: September Prediction - Nairobi solidifies its emergence as Africa’s premier skyscraper hub as construction starts on Hass Tower in Nairobi – the first supertall to begin construction in Africa.
Nairobi is in the midst of a skyscraper building boom, accounting for almost a quarter of all active high-rise construction in Africa – far outpacing any other comparable cities. Adding to that will be the Hass complex when it starts construction in September. The two-tower project will break a number of records, featuring Kenya’s two tallest buildings, Africa’s first supertall tower, and two of the three tallest buildings on the continent. Its construction will solidify Nairobi’s emergence as Africa’s primary skyscraper city.

KarmaKill: Dude.....
1. Eko Atlantic has zero skyscrapers. There are only two skyscrapers in Africa. One in Johannesburg and the other in Nairobi. A skyscraper is a building of over 200m height.
2. The WHOLE of NEW YORK city has 6,154 HIGHRISES. Mark you I'm talking about HIGHRISES not skyscrapers. A HIGHRISE is a building of just 35m high height. Remember this is NEW YORK CITY - the city with the highest number of high-rises in the world and the second highest number of skyscrapers after Hong Kong. Look at New York city. 6,154 buildings over 35m and you guys are talking of thousands of skyscrapers on Eko Atlantic? .....and considering that at the moment there's no SINGLE skyscraper proposed or under construction in Eko Atlantic. Lol, you guys don't know what you're talking about. 1, You are wrong. America and Europe never set the parameter of a skyscraper at 200m for the minimum height. If we go by their standard (150m), we have 1 completed and 2 underconstruction. way more than the two(one still underconstruction) Kenya has. 2, New York is not the city with the highest numbers of highrise in the world. Not even in the top 4. Please, get your facts right before you misinform the public. Thanks

Skyscraper has no universal minimum height. It depends on the Continent or country. In Africa, 100m is the accepted minimum height. Where did you get 200 m from?

even in the US, it is only 150m and above,so,where did u get ur definition from? is it from the future? The guy is lying obviously. He doesn't want to accept the fact that Lagos has more skyscrapers than the whole of Kenya. He keeps cooking up things to make Nairobi have more skyscrapers than Nigeria but the facts on ground doesn't support his fallacious claims. Since, he realized he has been beaten to it, he cooked up 200m as the parameter for identifying a skyscraper. Whereas, America self no use that parameter not to talk of Africa wey no get plenty skyscrapers. Apart from that, there is no universal accepted minimum height for a skyscraper. It depends on the Continent or country. As you rightly said, America's minimum standard is 150 m while in other places it's 80m but in Africa where Nairobi and Lagos exist, the minimum height for a skyscraper is 100 m. That guy can li.e for Africa.

CocoMilian: Hahahaha look at this nonesense being said proudly.
Besides, many Nigerians going outside have bigger ambitions to make it international and not becoming local champions. To achieve that you must go to wherever you think you can achieve your dreams.
And you are actually proud of that It just a pity...it paints a bad picture of your economy and country as a whole.... Infact it is even shameful that I cannot better myself in my own home...its like living Ina mansion and going to your neighbours humble place to eat food,get electricity and even education.and actually be proud of that. How?? A whole "giant of Africa!!" (as people claim)
I understand where the huge number of illiteracy comes from thats why they act so arrogantly and want to pick a fight with everyone.... Esp Ghanaians,south Africans,Kenyans.....sometimes I get to think its coz that they feel threatened by us. Thats why they are always in a fight and flight reaction mode Do I need to explain before you understand? Don't tell me you are not smart enough to understand simple basic reasoning? First of all, I demanded your definition of 'SUCCESS' but you are beating round the bush. Define success first then we can have a healthy debate. Secondly, if you want to succeed and be recognized globally 'in some areas of profession', I repeat you must go to wherever you think you can achieve your dreams. Is that too difficult for you to comprehend? Simplifying it for your easy comprehension, let's say you want to become UEFA player of the Year or FIFA world player of the year, do you expect me to play in Kenya premier-league? If I want to become the World heavy weight boxing champion, do I need to come to the safari to box with the Lions or Australia to box with the kangaroos? If I want to want to become an international renowned interpreter or diplomatic, do I sit in Nigeria to interpret? Do I need to do this for your comprehension? |

I hope that educates you on this matter other than your funny funny blogs. Bhuuuhahaha! That's why the Emporis you called funny funny blogs is more updated than all these grammar and vain li.es. Let me educate you on Emporis before I move to the next topic since you are ignorant of it. Emporis GmbH is a real estate data mining company with headquarters in Hamburg, Germany. The company collects and publishes data and photographs of buildings worldwide. Emporis offers a variety of information on its public database, Emporis.com, located at www.emporis.com. Emporis is frequently cited by various media sources as an authority on building data. Emporis previously focused exclusively on high-rise buildings and skyscrapers, which it defines as buildings "between 35 and 100 metres" tall and "at least 100 metres tall", respectively. Today, the database has expanded to include low-rise buildings and other structures. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/EmporisAs you can see it it is indeed an internationally recognized and reputable company on building database. Don't come here to expose ya.... That been confirmed, I will say Emporis is right on point to confirm that LéMac Tower is just 23 stories because LéMac website confirmed it though their's is 22 stories(the ground floor was not counted) but the technical data of a structure counts from the ground up to the last floor. The remaining floors buried underground doesn't count in this term. Yes! Permit me to say LéMac Tower is 23 floors with the other 3 floors buried underground. May you measure the height from beneath the surface of the earth to the top. . Sorry, it doesn't work that way. LéMac Tower is 89m only going by the rules. You can even count the floors from the second picture. It is glaring, LéMac Tower is 23 floors based on the technical data to measure the height. First is the snapshot of the details of Lé Mac Tower from their website. Take note that it stated 22 floors without the ground floor but I am Emporis have included it on our data. Bhuuuhahaha! 2nd pic is LéMac Tower Nairobi. The conclusion is, Lagos with 8 skyscrapers completed, has more skyscrapers than the whole of Nairobi Kenya with just 6 skyscrapers completed. Sorry.

NairobiWalker2: 1. Nairobi has 10 complete buildings over 100m and over 8 under construction.
2. Actually Africa has only two skyscrapers. One in Johannesburg and the other in Nairobi. The official definition of a skyscraper is a building of over 200m height. Two more skyscrapers are under construction in Nairobi which will push the number of African skyscrapers to 4. 1, says who? I all the right source forgiveness: Don't be deceived. Kenya doesn't have more skyscrapers than Nigeria.
Looking at the first snapshot below, you will see the names of the buildings and colors that indicate the progress of each buildings. The color are placed side by side with the building to indicate the status of the project. In some cases, they add the year to indicate that it has been completed.
On this note, we can determine the numbers of project completed. Though in some cases the project might not be listed but be well assured that almost the projects in Nairobi has been captured and recorded with their heights save one (Teleposta Tower). The height is what determines a skyscraper in this context and it must be from 100m above.
From the second snapshot you can see all I have mentioned above and you can discern that Kenya has only 6 (with Teleposta Tower) skyscrapers completed as at today.
The green color indicates that these three structures have been completed;
1, The Times Tower - 140 m 2, KICC Tower - 105 m 3, Social Security house - 103 m
The purple indicates that the structures are under construction but with the date added to it, it indicates that it has been completed and two of the structures in Nairobi that indicated the dates are;
4, Britam Tower - 200 m 5, UAP Tower - 163 m
The only skyscraper not listed is 6, Teleposta Tower - 120 m
Which brings us to the total sum of 6 skyscrapers in Nairobi. Where did they get the other 3 skyscrapers from?
Please, take note that the I&M Tower and KCB tower didn't meet the requirement of 100 m to be considered skyscrapers while LéMac is not up to 90 m(as you can see on the 17th position in the 2nd and 3rd snapshot).
Nigeria has 8 completed skyscrapers and many under construction(but should not be counted).
I will do the needful later. Give me legit source to verify your claims. This is Emporis, it is a professional body that handles such affairs... 2, where did you see the official definition of a skyscraper is 200m? Bhuuuhahaha! Dis guy dey... Chineke meeeee! In Europe, it is 150 m and we have 1 already and 2 under construction.

The fact that you see many succeeding outside Nigeria doesn't mean much more are not successful. Abi na you dey feed dem, buy dem house and build dem companies? On page 712,2017 I proved Kenya doesn't have more than 6 skyscrapers completed. It has been verified by many reliable sources.
On the other hand, Nigeria has 8 completed skyscrapers as at today, I mean nau nau.
Just follow what I explained in the Nairobi post and you will be able to understand the snapshots below.
The skyscrapers marked green indicated that the projects are completed and they are 5 in numbers.
1, NECOM House - 158 m 2, Union Bank building - 124 m 3, Independent house - 103 m 4, intercontinental hotel - 101 m 5, Central Bank of Nigeria - 100 m
However, three skyscrapers are omitted or not included even though they actually exist are;
6, Ministry of Communication building - 109 m 7, Eko Tower 2 - 110 m 8, Eko_Pearl_Towers (black pearl) - 110 m
As you can see, Lagos has more skyscrapers than the whole of Kenya.

Even th British had hard time defeating the Ashanti empire. Oyo empire even covered more grounds than Benin Empire. Mere Oyo machineries humiliated and defeated the Ashanti Kingdom. The whole Benin Republic was under the rules and control of Oyo empire even up till Ghana border. If Ashanti empire was sure of defeating the Oyos, they would have regrouped, reorganized and re-strategised but they chicken out and returned to avoid disaster.
