Mickael2: they are making waves where?! In the norwegian leagues? In the turkish leagues? In the segunda division? In the belgian leagues? Atleast perreira is at Manu, he plays a game every now and then, he isn't any different from Mikel who is also a bench warmer at Chelsea so what's your point? Lucas Moura is also at PSG, his game time isn't bad at all, he has played more games in the last 2 seasons than Iheanacho and Iwobi and Yahaya combined. Do you expect him to score so many goals? He is a winger incase you don't know and he played in thesame team with Ibrahimovic, and you know they have to feed him goals to keep his massive ego intact. His assist ratio is not bad at all.
Our best players in top teams are either bench warmers (Iheanacho and Mikel) or playing in an underachieving team(Iwobi, no disrespect to Arsenal though), so what point are you trying to make there? Dis guy just take style finish our players. But those boys no bad ooo. |

I know if i suggest one name now people wey go wan chop me go plenty. What if we invite Efe Ambrose for that RB position? For me he remains our best RB since after Chidi Odiah. He has got the experience for a big game like this. (Just thinking o). Abeg, make we leave out Efe Ambrose from the national team now. Omeruo can be tried in that position. |

Icon4s: While i may see reasons with you concerning Musa Mohammed, i would want to defend Shehu's inclusion in the team. See, there are certain players when u have them in ur team it is like as if you have 2 or 3 players embedded in one. Shehu Abdulahi is one of such. U know the utility player thing. Ndidi is also another. These are players that can be used in more than one position. Shehu can play RB can Raheem play RB?
What Raheem can offer we have in Mikel and Onazi already.
Mikel is the father of utility in that team as he can play DMF, CMF and AM.
Utility players would always get callup no matter which coach is in charge. Notice that Shehu played under Keshi, Oliseh, Siasia and now Rohr. Mikel has played under Eguavoen, Amodu, Siasia twice, Keshi, Oliseh and now Rohr. So just leave Shehu for us he is a valuable utility player.
You remember "Chindo"! Garba Lawal? Not so skillfull, no fansiful footwork, did nt play in the greatest leagues in Europe but was abt the most capped player of his time. That is why I said we have better options. We don't need Shehu Abdullahi because we have better ones. Brain Idowu can play in 3 different positions. Raheem Lawal can play in three different positions. Tyronne Ebuechi can play in three different positions. Abdul Ajagun can play in three different positions. As you can see, we have better options. Brain Idowu's positions on the field.

Icon4s: We need to take this qualifiers a game at a time. Is inviting Idowu and Ebuehi the most important elements to our victory against Algeria? No,,cos even if they are invited they are not likely to start.
A more important issue now is which of Omeruo, Balogun, Shehu or Mohammed would play that RB as these are the top 4 choices at RB for that game against Algeria. I don't think Mohammed deserves a call up to the National team. He should solve his club issues. I heard he has been staying in Kano after the Tanzania game. We don't need that kind of player hence one of those boys can fill that slot.. Even if they don't start we are guaranteed of a credible replacement in case of any eventuality. Shehu Abdullahi also doesn't deserve to be in the National team because he plays in Cyprus for ANORTHOSIS. He has only managed 2 matches out of 6. So, he doesn't deserve to wear Super Eagles Jersey when we have better options. We can replace him with either Raheem Lawal or John Ogu. But if we think we need a player that can play at the RB and defensive midfield then Brain Idowu can do that. Afterall, Ezekiel Imoh was dropped. |

Icon4s: We are discussing the game against Algeria here.
No one is saying we dnt need natural RBs. After the Algeria game we have up till August next yr before our game against Cameroun.Rohr can understudy several natural RBs during that long interval (of which i am very sure he and his crew would do). There would be Fifa windows during the period so we expect friendlies.
But for the next game which is jst next month we may have to try one of our CB at RB.
BTW has Moses Odubanjo left Hull City? He should call one of those boys (Brain Idowu and Tyrone Ebuechi) to test them in training. I don't want to see Ndidi play there against Algeria. The best option could be Omeruo pending the recovery of Leon. I don't talk my own. No, Moses Odubanjo got injured and he will be back after 6 months. I think maybe in 1 - 2 months time, he will be back. |

TheSuperNerd: WHY GENK STAR NDIDI GOT THE NOD TO START AGAINST ZAMBIA, ROHR EXPLAINS
https://owngoalnigeria.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/10/image-27-750x350.jpg
The decision to start Wilfred Ndidi ahead of Musa Mohammed has generated debates in Nigeria especially as he was preferred ahead of Shehu Abdullahi who has also played as a right back for the Eagles.
Ndidi who is predominantly a central defender during his days with the various arms of Nigeria Youth teams, the Under-17 and 20s precisely have been converted to a defensive midfielder by his Belgian side.
Playing him as a right full back in an important game like the World Cup qualifiers between Nigeria and Zambia caused a lot of concerns for football loving Nigerians.
However shortly after the 2-1 victory we gathered that, Rohr went for Ndidi ahead of Musa and Shehu due to his marking abilities as opposed to the attack minded duo who have played in the position in the past.
Nigeria needed to keep things tight at the back and, Rohr noticed Ndidi marks better and doesn’t give out fouls around the edge of the box than most defenders in the team.
Aside that his aerial abilities in defending set piece in training won Rohr over, as the manager drilled his defenders on how to defend set pieces from which they expect Zambia to threaten prior to the game.
Source: http://owngoalnigeria.com/2016/10/10/why-genk-star-ndidi-got-the-nod-to-start-against-zambia-rohr-explains/ This coach never know naija. If he had lost the match, people would have questioned his bad selection at the RB. Make he no try am against Algeria. |

Icon4s: I love your write up. But let me touch some points.
-Issue of "Experience": I have said it repeatedly that where experience counts more is in the midfield and defense(especially the defense).
If attackers make mistakes the other attackers or midfieldera are there to cover for them before it gets to the defense. But when defenders make mistakes it often leads to goals. See Omeruo's case for eg and our first goal came from a poor clearance from a Zambian defender. We dnt need school boys errors in the defense.
Teams typically find it easier to field inexperienced young players in attack but in the defense? Experience counts alot.
It is left to Rohr wether he has the guts to start Musa Mohammed against an Algerian side blessed with highly talented wingers. I would rarher we field either Omeruo or Balogun at RB.
-If Victor Moses is fit there is no way Simon would start ahead of him. Our first choice wingers are Iwobi and V. Moses. We don't need make shift RB defenders, we need natural RBS. |

Roda has scored only 3 goal in 8 games. How is Ajagun going to be creating for the Eagles when he is not creating at club level.
Not playing in Chelsea is different from not playing in Roda jc. Mikel will walk into the starting 11 of most EPL teams. Ajagun would not. You have not showed me any fact and you have not established your claims that Ajagun was bench in recent 'games'. Please, prove that one first. Thanks. |

Icon4s: I knew it!
All that long write up was just to make a case for Ajagun.
See, Musa Mohammed is not entirely a bad player. He has performed excellently well in the two games he has played for Nigeria.
He is a player i can say is tested but not trusted.
Musa Mohammed is no new comer as far as African football is concerned. this mHaving played the U17 & U20 of which is was one of the outstanding performers. We all know the quality Musa Mohammed posses yet we cannot trust him to cope with the battle of Ndola. I repeat how much less Ebuechi, Idowu and co.
As far as the national team set up and conditions are concerned Musa Mohammed is more experienced than those guys u mentioned.
Mohammed is what it takes to be a great RB bt its just that he is not there yet.
As for replacement for Iwobi. You forget we have the highest abundance of players at the wings. V. Moses, Ahmed Musa, S. Moses, Imoh Ezekiel, Isaac Success, Karo Etebo. Any of these guys can easily be slotted into the wings position.
Also Alex Iwobi can also easily play behind the CF. So if Iheanacho is injured Iwobi is there.
Issue of Mikel replacing Iheanacho as a number 10. Did you not see Mikel play that position all through the Olympics. Do you also know at a point in that semi final against Germany Mikel was virtually playing a SS role as Etebo remained injured.
Also note that Etebo does not only play as a SS, he plays as Wing Forward( Nig vs Japan in Rio) & as a number 10 (CAF U23).
So oga, we have so many options in the wings and Central AM positions. So, what experience did Iwobi acquired prior to this match? |
