terzurum5: Rohr: Why Rio 2016 Hero Etebo and Golden Boy Osimhen Were Dropped For Zambia Tie
Coach of the Nigeria senior national team Gernot Rohr has revealed to his close aides and associates on the reason why Ogenekaro Etebo and Victor Osimhen, were dropped from the list of invited players for the World Cup qualifiers tie against Zambia.
The duo alongside FC Porto Chidozie Awaziem joined excused Watford star Odion Ighalo as the major absentee from the list of players excluded from the team, who were part of Rohr’s last squad for the Tanzania tie.
”Etebo was not listed because people tend to forget that in the last two months he has only played once, no thanks to fitness issues. Too heavy a risk to take especially as we have lot of options in his role. Aside that he has issues regarding hs work permit in Portugal” a source told Owngoalnigeria.com.
”For Osimhen, everybody knows he is one for the future, it’s not to his best interest if he is once again called up and later dropped from the match day squad. He will definitely be involved with the team in subsequent games but for this tie, we need players with big game experience.
”Awaziem is another for the future, the dicey nature of the clash against Zambia made his omission a no brainer. Kenneth Omeruo took his place. You can’t place them on same level when you talking experience”. owngoalnigeria.com/2016/09/23/rohr-why-rio-2016-hero-etebo-and-golden-boy-osimhen-were-dropped-for-zambia-tie/ Na only those people una drop? terzurum5: Revealed: Why Watford Big Money Buy Isacc Success Was Called Up By Nigeria Watford of England forward Isacc Success was handed his maiden call up by coach of the Super Eagles of Nigeria Gernot Rohr, much to the surprise of all.
However sources close to the coach have revealed the reason why the former Granada man was handed his first call up.
Success has been sparingly used by manager Walter Mazzari of Watford this season, as the coach is gradually easing him into the demands of English football.
Some Nigerians have joked that his call up was inspired by his strong showing last weekend against Manchester United , where he made mincemeat of highly rated defender Eric Bailly.
”It’s funny when Nigerians discuss issues , how can he be called up because he dribbled Bailly? How funny?. His call up was based on uncertainty over the fitness of Moses Simon, who is yet to fully recover from the groin injury he picked up few weeks ago” the source said.
”He earned his spot in the team based on Ogenekaro Etebo’s absence plus the Simon’s case I talked about earlier. You can’t doubt his talent. He will add pace, strength and experience to our strike force.
”You need to watch him at Granada. He has been unfortunate not to have been called up in the past. This is his time to show Nigerians what made Watford splash big on him in the summer”. owngoalnigeria.com/2016/09/23/revealed-why-watford-big-money-buy-isacc-success-was-called-up-by-nigeria/ Yeeee! e bi like say I dey suspect somebody for here wey dey behind dis write up oooo. I am not against Isaac Success invitation but I said it must be based on merit. Isaac Success was not playing regularly when this discussion came up. I insisted you can't drop Ighalo or Brown Ideye for him because they are playing regularly and inform. That is just the point. |

terzurum5: AF Nigeria 2017 Africa Cup of Nations Qualifiers FC Porto Jamiu Alimi talks up progress after he's picked ahead of Awaziem
Kano Pillars ace Jamiu Alimi has said he has made progress in the game after he was considered for next month’s World Cup qualifier in Zambia ahead of foreign-based pros like Chidozie Awaziem.
The likes of Awaziem, Victor Osimhen and Imoh Ezekiel made the squad for last month’s AFCON qualifier against Tanzania in Uyo, but have been left out of the latest call-ups by coach Gernot Rohr.
“Picking me ahead of Awaziem of FC Porto is the coach’s decision, not mine, and I hope to justify my selection," Alimi said.
“The coach has been telling me about what I can do. So calling me back again after my invitation to the AFCON game against Tanzania in Uyo shows that the entire technical crew is pleased with my development.
"Now I wish to come to camp and be part of the success of our first World Cup qualifiers in Ndola.”
However, the former Shooting Stars ace, who has posted brief stints in Belgium and Ukraine, will not crown a great year with a major trophy with Kano Pillars.
“I do not regret joining Pillars even though we will not end the season with a trophy,” he said.
“Pillars remain a great club with rich history and super fans." africanfootball.com/news/649492/Jamiu-Alimi-talks-up-progress-after-hes-picked-ahead-of-Awaziem Awaziem has been relegated to the feeder team. tbaba1234: How Do You Invite Players? Turkish Journalist Questions Invitation Of Musa Mohammed
Highly respected Turkish journalist Adnan Adem has questioned the rationale behind the invitation of Musa Mohammed to the Super Eagles, ahead of Nigeria’s first World Cup 2018 qualifiers against Zambia in Ndola.
19 year old Musa was once again included in the list of players called up by the coach of Nigeria Gernot Rohr for the game on the 9th of October, maintaining his spot in the team after his first competitive debut against Tanzania.
Musa Mohammed plays in Turkey for Istanbul Basaksehir, same country where Adnan is highly respected for his coverage of the league and it’s players.
The former Nigeria U-17 and 20 captain is yet to make a single league appearance since joining Turkish side Istanbul Basaksehir last summer, but keeps getting invited to the Nigeria senior national team.
Adnan said Musa Mohammed is in the league of players who were highly rated when they first arrived but after few months are viewed as flops.
” How do players get invited to the senior national team of Nigeria?. He is yet to play a single minute of league football in over a year. As a matter of fact, he is yet to make the match day squad for any of their games in all competition” Adnan said.
” He is presently third choice right full back if not fourth, someone they even tried to terminate his contract this summer. He has played more games for Nigeria than he has played for his club in over a year. How does he get invited?.”

So you think creating chances is enough to rate Imoh as the second best.
To me, he was not better than Ekong. Ekong did not only defend well but also helped the midfield stay fluid. Imoh is to create chances as a winger and Ekong is to defend.
Ekong ball playing skills were exceptional. His performance took him straight to the starting line-up. Creating chances is not enough.
Just as defending is not enough to rate a defender as the best. There has to be an extra contribution, which Ekong's ball playing added.
Also, without Azubuike's performance, Imoh did not count against the Germans. That will tell you how important the other players were.
You might feel Imoh was the best. That is your opinion. Just do not make it as a general opinion.
Do not bring Messi and CR7 in this debate because there is no way to equate Imoh in that class. Despite creating chances, these guys break scoring records year after year. Or, did Imoh break scoring record? In every competition there must be the best. Imoh-ezekiel played pass all other players except Mikel. No need for to much story. |

You can not compare the German national team to the Russian National team, only one is a world cup winner. The competition is certainly stiffer in Germany.
Also, Leon was a regular when he was first invited even though he played in the second division and he was first tested in a friendly. Kesha was experimenting. I don't mind Idowu being tested but in a friendly.
Leon is currently one of the best defenders in Germany and i am sure, would have been given a national team call-up to the German team by now if he had not switched to Nigeria.
I support the invitation of Otigba because of his consistency. He can not bench the starters for now though. So, should we wait until he becomes the best and get invitation to the Russian national team? His he not playing regularly for his club? How do we know Otigba can't bench the starter? |

Brian Idowu is russian, he has not been called up by Russia... What makes him better than the other players?
I am checking his Stats and last season, he had 1646 minutes last season from 25 games. An average of 66 minutes.. Meaning, he was not a sure banker regular.
On what basis should he be invited? I was not referring to Omerue and co. I was referring to Kenneth Otigba and Brain Idowu. I asking what makes him better than Jamiu Alimi and Shehu Abdullahi? It does not matter what he played last season. What matters is his current form this season. Now, give us the statistics for this season. Brain Idowu is more of Nigerian than Russian. And yeah.... Kenneth Otigba most especially is one I am really looking forward to seeing in the Green and White... But it's just the Zambia game in Ndola... What were u expecting? A 50-man squad??
Next game will reveal another story. It's step by step.... Even Isaac that we all have been clamoring for is now on the list and he's still 20.
And your arguments of "the ones we have are kinda getting old" is not true... Leon is 27 or 28 (not sure). Troost is 22 going on 23. Omeruo is not above 24...
Otigba is about 25 or so.... Brian is 24. So what gives?
The replacements you speak of are still in the same age bracket.... Or slightly older.
For the Zambian game, If Leon is injured, Omeruo and Troost can cope I'm sure. It's just one game (and a world cup qualifier sef) and you wanted a whole battalion of Greenhorns Na wa ooo
Remember Awaziem (19) is another that must bid his time as he's still young and mehn!! We got some good cover in that defence (esp. The Centreback position).
So Oga... Chill... The Nigerian soccer project of this new era is still on. I just wanted Jamiu Alimi and Shehu Abdullahi off for Kenneth Otigba and Brain Idowu and not 50 man list. That's all. I was not the age of the invited ones, I was talking about Kenneth Otigba and Brain Idowu. |

I doubt we can single Imoh as the second best player. If you ask me, who was the best player, I will tell you without blinking that na Mikel Obi and the next to him was Imoh Ezekiel. terzurum5: Who told you Imoh Ezekiel was dropped because the Club he plays? The Coach or someone in the Glasshouse?
I don't know much about Brain Idowu. But I together with some some stakeholders had canversed for the invitation of Kenneth Otigba. However, the responsibility to do so rests with the technical crew.
If Imoh Ezekiel was ignored on the bases of the Club he plays for, why did the Coach invite him for the Tanzanian game? Or wasn't the Coach aware of his Club when he extended invitation to him earlier? I am beginning to wonder the kind of ''thinking model'' you applied before coming up with some of your points.
It is obvious the Coach watched him in the Olympics and Super Eagles training, hence the need to give Isaac Success his chance.
I believe Isaac Success merited his invitation by putting up impressive performances in the EPL games so far.
So please stop this your early insinuation of ''Shumting'' in the NFF.
For the Coach I see him inviting players that are doing well in their various Clubs one by one, so please exercise some patience. Nobody but why was he dropped? I didn't say because of coach or someone in the glass house. You don't understand my figure of speech. The person understood. However, it is obvious Ezekiel Imoh was dropped based on current form and that's in connection with his performance in the club. So, yes, I can say because of club. Habi you don hear about his performance lately? We know the responsibility of selecting players solely relies on the coach but they're not exempted from being held accountable for their actions or in actions. They need to show fairness in selection of players. Nigeria national team is not their family business, it is National business in which we as stockholders should endeavour to normally or naturally defend our interest. hence players must be invited based on merit and current form which must be devoid of schism and nepotism. Although, I never casted aspiration on this list but I suggested some players ought to have been invited ahead of some and that was all. And for that reason, I requested Kenneth Otigba and Brain Idowu should have been invited instead of Shehu Abdullahi and Jamiu Alimi. This is based on their current form. I don't think I am asking for too much. You should have known that Ezekiel Imoh was invited based on his performance at the Olympics because it was glaring he was the second best player for us in that tournament and before he went for the Olympics he played for Anderlecht and not the current club. But after the Olympics and the Tanzania match, he went to an obscure league where he has not played a single match for his club. So, who will invite that kind of player? If you are talking about talent, I don't think Isaac Success got Imoh Ezekiel kind of talent. You know na. When someone said or suggested that Isaac Success should be invitation to the National team, he was not performing as at that time. This is what leads to my suspicion about 'shumbody' which you yourself cannot decode. Maybe that's why you misunderstood my point. |

TheSuperNerd: That Tammy Abraham lad dey hot!!! I have been monitoring him for a while....
He's only 18 and a Chelsea loanee doing great things at Bristol City.
Only thing is we don't know his allegiance decision yet.... But he's a very fine prospect. Eehn! I don't know this lad. The first time I heard about I thought he is one of those lad that has no future with Chelsea. I will start following him from henceforth. |
