fadson: You know its very easy for some people to say 'the laws are in order' because u live outside the country and enjoy the luxury of traffic signs,
Do u know a first-timer can't drive in Lagos without 'breaking the law'?
Do u know that somewhere in Shasha area, a particular road is two-way drive from morning till 3pm and after 3pm it becomes one-way? and there are several of them like that in Lagos! Didn't some wise fellow say once that ignorance of the law is not an excuse for breaking the law. |

darqly: And all because someone wanted to sell a car!!! So what if he doesn't want to dash de car? I mean is it mandatory that everyone be 'mindlessly' generous? I believe if you've worked hard for every kobo, you'd pay better attention to what you did with your property and be more accountable. Even us Nigerians that milk govt treasury dry and claim we have arrived are damn measly, talk-less of someone who came to seek greener pastures here. We're still an ignorant lot. Tell them!! |

const6: Yes, i support the law when i saw in the papers, come to think of it, i almost lost my mum to a one way accident.
but what i hate about this is when those stupid police officers and lastma will begin to fill their pocket day in day out.
imagine what happened to me the other day at VI, i was on my way to MWEB Office (Near the beach) and coming out from Nitel and one stupid motorist forced me out of my lane in order not to avoid an accident i obliged but realised that i was suppose to be on the long queue going under the bridge, i then went to join the lane in front, suddenly two lastman men came running towards me, believe me i for fit run but i was thinkin is like Ikeja, where i drive everyday that maybe after giving them one thousand, they will leave me alone.
Dey there, they charged me with all sort of fine at the end, i hide 15k at my back pocket and only showed them 10k, they took 8k out of the 10k.
Now what baffles me is that, they saw me when i avoided the other motorist, are they not suppose to help and beside what happen else where is when you join traffic like that, u must keep moving on your former lane, they will force u out to continue from the lane u were coming from, even if it is not you intended destination.
So just imagine how much them go chop when it comes to this 250,000.00 fine You see the problem. So you ended up bribing them. And since no one will stop them, they will continue extorting money. It takes only one person to say NO!!! Why did you bribe them. Surely they are other avenues. If you feel you had a legitimate reason to break the law, you could have taken them to court!!! You must have heard that the law is an ass. Sorry about your experience but I regret to say that you be real law breaker as you even know how its done in Ikeja!!! Make you hold your cheque book if ATM no dey work. Cos now, settlement go be like 150K. You are on your own ooo!!! |

BonnyFace: Good day all and particularly to the Oyibo guy, I found it very intriguing going through your mail. First, the mail I mail was just only a sugestion/my own personal opinion and nothing more. But you are trying to exonerate yourself from the word GREEDY and in doing so castigating not me alone but nigerian entirely. This goes to show the kind of person you are, having worked and lived and made some leaving here in Nigeria, you turn around to be calling us names. Take it or leave it, nigeria has better your life, because if leaving in nigeria has not better your life, you would have gone back all this while. We know your type, that can not even afford a car in your own country, talkless of getting houseboy, plus cook. If not the neo colonial mentally, and the colour of skin, we believe every white man is good and expartriate. but No. If your job is advertise in the papers of nigeria, I believed there will be 1000s of more qualified candidates.
Be bold enough and put this to test by publishing your cv now in nairaland.
And to my black brothers who is supporting the oyibo simply because of money, i reserved my comment. There is an adage in Yoruba and I quote ' Chase the kite away first before questioning the chicken.
Regards. Ole boy, try to know persin!! The way you dey take dey do just dey disgrace black man!!! Why you no go grow up and act matured. Small pikin!!! If them give you visa now to go away, you go ready to sell your mama. Wake up man. The man wan sell him moto you come dey yab!!! Why you dey monkey like this na?? YOu no get respect?? Small boy!!! If you no get money comot for the man thread . Racist like you. If them give you chance you go do worse than Botha. Shame on you. |

Car Talk › Re: Traffic Violations In Lagos State Attract Ridiculous Fines by fotodaddy: 10:04pm On Jun 15, 2008 |
toskom: the new fines impose by the lagos state government to me is ridiculous. i see it as another means to enrich certain people. how much does a commercial vehicle make a day? why is government interested in punshing nigerians. how many police vehicle who drive against traffic as being arrested. this is not the solution to our problems. we need government to address the issue of poverty rather than coming up with some ridiculous fine against nigerians. Point of correction, toskom, the fines are not applicable to everyone. They are only applicable to individuals who break the laws. If you are not one of such people then there is no problem!!! And for your information, the Nigeria Police is one of the best forces you can get (considering their peculiar circumstances). You don't know what is a police state until you travel out of the country and then you go know say police pass police. But thats a story for another thread |

God pass them but nothing spoil; REMEMBER: TOO MUCH MONEY!!!! So I had spoken with Jenju already to order the fender and bumper from over their when I remembered a lebanese guy I met a while ago who's speciality is body work!!! Called him this morning, fixed up a meeting and met him today. Conclusion:the pathy will be going into the body shop tomorrow morning. And should be ready on Thursday. I will take pictures as the work progresses. Its going to cost 70K but the guy is really good and the dough included some kind of buffing and polishing that he does which will make the sheen on all the panels the same. The guy told me that I will not be able to put my hands on the side of the cos it will be so slippery!!! Hope that improves mygas mileage!! I am confident this guy knows his onions. You need to see his work. I cant believe i forgot about him. But in all this, you know for me its like a scratch. No shaking at all. And I don pass the one wey my heart go dey bleed for sake of some toy or the other wey I get. Remember your heart is where your treasures are and really these things no be where my treasure dey. Thanks for all the love boys!!! |

yemmydavid: i feel d prices are OUTRAGIOUS y not limit it to like 50k? How much will you pay for your life, my friend!!! There is a reason why it's called "ONE WAY". If you or someone you love has been involved in a head on collision with some fool driving on the wrong side of the road, maybe then you will see the big picture. But why are you worried if you no dey do am e no concern you!!! |

Romance › Re: She Won't Marry Him Because They're From Different Churches by fotodaddy: 6:38pm On Jun 15, 2008 |
I am still trying to understand human beings.
Them never marry and issues don start. This marriage thing is a serious matter that should not be taken lightly. Personally, I would say they go their separate ways for both their sakes. If they dont, one of the two will always be hurting cos they did what they really didnt want to.
One EXTREMELY important rule for a marriage to work is that both parties should have similar goals, principles and values. This will help push them together in a world that's trying to pull them apart. |
