AutosRe: Honda Power Bike (CBR 600 F) For Sale by fotodaddy(op): 9:14am On Jul 11, 2008
The history of the bike:

It was bought 2 years ago from the importer.
I suffered a crash on it last year, broke the rear set, the windscreen and the gear pedal (These have since been replaced with brand new ones). Damaged the original Honda exhaust and bent the throttle grip. (again the exhaust was replaced with a brand new Custom one which set me back 290 euro). The bike is in good condiction, I will keep riding it till who ever buys it does. I put in a new Chain and sprockets about 4 month ago. The rear tire wil be needing replacement soon (I put in new front and rear tyres about 16 months ago)
The bike was repainted after my crash to silver, so yes it is the one that is on my profile. That Picture was taken at Olumo rock. Any more details will be given when you come to inspect the bike!!! cool

Is it possible to be lawful in a lawless society?

The standard of the reasonable man; is it reasonable to wait in traffic for three hours when you can do a You turn and go the otherway and I don't mean against the flow of traffic ?

I have been in traffic obeying the lights and all that in Lagos only to get bumped, the reality is that the infrastructure is mashed up the delivery personal are not interested.(lasma, police, etc)

What do you do, obey the Law, so when armed robbers are shooting up the street I guess you should wait and obey the law.
Like I said before, you are free to break the law, but at your own risk. Make you no come cry here say them ask you to pay fine ooo!!! And if I dey there when them catch you I go tell them say you dey very stubborn and make them take 200K engunje instead of you're paying 250K grin grin
Car TalkRe: How Does Engine Oil Affect Motor Engine Performance? by fotodaddy: 8:36pm On Jul 10, 2008
Ivvie:
No!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This isn't real. If you put 20W50 in a Honda (whatever year) you will do serious damage to the engine. 20W 50 is thicker and densed. It's kinematic velocity is different and weight loss as well. It wouldn't lubricate the entire engine and you will damage your oil pump and clog the screen. Before the damage to the oil pump, the car rides hard and pulls sluggishly. Remember, oil in a vehicle in terms of combustion is a controlled burn. The oil 20W 50 is for heavy duty trucks (biased towards diesel). That is the grade you put in a Ford F250/F350 or race cars.

Whatever Visco 2000 is, I cannot tell you but oil is classified as Multi Grade. Honda uses SAE 5W -30 in the Fall/Spring (Winter) and SAE 10W - 30 in the Summer and have to be energy conserving API II (I think). Same as Toyota and 6 cylinder Lexus models. If Visco 2000 is used for heavy truck and vehicle, then I must submit to you that the practice is done in ignorance.

Using European vehicles (Jag, Volvo, BMW) as a yard stick to the Honda is simply off. Those vehicles use European formula which is SAE 0W - 40 all year and mostly use synthetic because they run hotter. In some cases, SAE 5W-40. This grade is heavier to the manufacturers recommendations for the Honda. For newer BMW's, it uses the BMW oil (which is a proprietory Mobil1 Adv SuperSyn).

Keep in mind, you can mix 5w-30 with 0w-30 but not 5w-30 with 5w-40. They act different at different engine temperatures and engine motion and lubricate differently. One is denser than the other and both don't mix. You get hap-hazard lubrication. Some people go the extra mile of putting additives.

Caution: Never use oil without the "SAE" logo or ID on it. It is just not certified.
Ol boy I wonder what weight is used in Saudi. Cos for sure you will need heavier oil in hotter countries than in colder. Here in Naija, I am sure you can
t get a locally blended oil with a weight lower than 20. Meanwhile thats not to mention all the people that add "oil treatment" and increase the weight to like 60 or 70.

obitobe:
every engine has it specification and the rating(octane rating) of oil which you are to use for servicing the car.now check the manual of your car for the specify oil ratings to be used,if you derivate sharply from that it might affect your car but if the ratings is in the same range you do not have to worry.
Ol boy, octane rating has nothing whatsoever to do with Motor Engine oil huh huh huh

triaophant:
To the poster, I do not think that the change of oil is the problem except perharps you fell into the hands of dubious auto mechanics who use refilled engine oil if you are not too observant to service customers cars. These refilled engine oil are mostly expired and they purchase such engine oil and refill it with smaller cans and containers which they sell to unsuspecting members of the public. As for your change of engine oil, though not all that advisable, it cannot radically alter the performance of your engine. I changed over from Oando to AP VISCO 2000 for over a year now on my Benz car and I can attest that the engine performance has been excellent. As a matter of fact, that engine oil is designed for cars such as Rover, BMW, Ford, Mercedes Benz, Peugeot, Jaguar, Volvo, Volkswagen, Fiat, SAAB, All JAPANESE and KOREAN cars. So you can see that your Honda falls within the cars that the AP VISCO 2000 is designed for. It has the following SPECIFICATIONS:SAE 20W 50 SJ/CH4, ACEA A3-98, E-96, MB228.1, 229.1, JASO DX-1. It is a low friction premium quality Motor oil formulated to handle all stress levels in modern petrol and diesel engines. It provides superb control over deposits, wear, oxidation, rust and corrosion. It has an ultimate engine protection, improves engine cleanliness, stop-start and extreme driving conditions, increases power output, reduces fuel consumption and enhances easy cold start. BUT MY ADVICE IS THAT NEXT TIME YOU WANT TO SERVICE YOUR CAR, DRIVE TO ANY AP STATION AND BUY JUST TWO 4 LITRES CANS OF THE ENGINE OIL BY YOURSELF AND TAKE IT TO YOUR MECHANIC. Check also whether your engine seatings are ok, check your motor fan and fan belt and see if it is wobbling, finally have a look at your wheel alignment.
Ol boy!!! You dey funny o!! You dey work with AP!!! Ah ha take am easy na!!! grin grin grin

Drive down a major urban street in the wrong direction here in most US cities, and the Police will take your car from you and the DMV (Division of Motor Vehicles) will take your driving license from you, and force you to go to a driving school course and you'll still have to wait months before getting your license back. All that is on top of a good $2,000 fine at the least. For a city like lagos in which has outlandish driving habits, I think this is a good law.

Car TalkRe: How Does Engine Oil Affect Motor Engine Performance? by fotodaddy: 2:08pm On Jul 10, 2008
You need to specify the type of oil not only the brand.

If you look on the can you will find the API clasification. If they are similar, then changing brands really doesnt amount to much.

However, I have observed that a lot of Oil dealers adultrate the oils. If you notice, some mechanics do not break the seals of the oil can when they open it. They then sell the kegs for as much as 700 bucks. The buyers of such kegs refill with ordinary oil or even other oil types, and sell it for the price of the original.

I lost the engine of my Mitsubishi Eclipse about 8 year ago like this. And this was after an oil change at Mobil Maryland. That was the last time I was there.

Car TalkRe: How Long Must It Take Before I Service My Car? by fotodaddy: 11:27am On Jul 10, 2008
Different car makers give different service intervals for their cars, and this varies from model to model and engine type.

Generally speaking, 3000 to 5000km is the interval. However, with special oils and/or different car brands, higher intervals are possible. My VW TDI with Long Life engine oil has a service (Oil and Oil filter change) every 15,000km!!! shocked shocked grin

My personal advise to Danderson:
- I didn't know Jenju from Adam (same with Inspired) before this year. I've not met them live!, but I've many time spoken with and transacted businesses with them , and still believe they are for real!
- Jenju's lawyer is there with you in Abuja, so I suggest you set up a meeting with him (or visit the law firm - seeing is believing!). Except the name of the law firm is a fake, my wife assured me to continue with the transation (in the early days of firming my deal with Jenju), because during the period of her practice in Kano 17-19yrs ago, she had some interactions with the law firm (whose HQ is/was in Kano). She knew the founding partner who incidentally was the first SAN in the whole of the North
- Jenju's lawyer is the Managing partner of the firm now, and that should be enough trust
Meaninghuh? JENJU IS TOO TIGHT grin grin grin

Car TalkRe: Chinese Automobiles: Lifan - New Chinese Car Brand In Nigeria, How Safe? by fotodaddy: 9:05pm On Jul 08, 2008
Ivvie:
Fottodaddy,

I did answer your question. A car isn't safe by the number of restrainst system but structural rigidity (collision characteristics) and intergrity (or how it translates KE). I don't know much about car models but I will make one thing clear. GM cars are not safe cars. Highway safety crash tests in the US. are done with 50% offset frontal crash impact test at 25 to 40 mph. Most of the tests are done at approx. 30 mph. This is how 5 stars are rated. In common sense, unrealistic. Volvo, Saab, VW and some mid priced euro vehicles are done in their facilities at 85 to 115 mph and not just linear impact but various dynamic impacts at angles imagined. Also air projectile tests and roll overs are considered. It is done numerous times. GM as a standard or any japanese automaker doesn't cut it. I am unaware that Daewoo crossed over as one of a reputable kind. To be a top seller, it must be a fancy car. As this posts asks, chinese cars aren't safe and that is what the truth implies.

Concerning the question you asked on the build quality, I can explain that but that will turn this post over; deviating it from its original intent. I will also have to explain it using science and economics (greed).

To be factual, I am not condemning you nor your logic or the way you want to see things. In real life (I mean using our cognitive understanding), it is performing poorly.
OK, let me understand, what you are saying then is that, if cars fail the same tests that make you say all chinese cars are unsafe, then we can conclude that all cars are unsafe. Period!! huh huh huh

meanwhile you forget

fotodaddy:
@Ivvie
Meanwhile, can you explain to me how a good car maker will build a car so inferior that a knock from a minivan will cause it to cut into two and even go so far as to actually remove the axle altogether.

Let the pictures speak for themselves. One thing I can tell you is that it is not a chinese car!!
Ol boy you don win. Me I don tire to try to prove to you say your statement "all chinese Cars" no dey 100% correct.

@Ivvie

You still have not answered the issues I raised. You just went on and on but at the end what?? I will have you know that the CHERY QQ is a clone of one of GM's best selling small cars (Daewoo Matiz) but I am sure you knew that already, and I can also dig out videos from youtube for the Smart and other small cars to show you how "fragile" they are.

Meanwhile, can you explain to me how a good car maker will build a car so inferior that a knock from a minivan will cause it to cut into two and even go so far as to actually remove the axle altogether.

Let the pictures speak for themselves. One thing I can tell you is that it is not a chinese car!!

Meanwhile, the last picture is of the boot section of the car, which was completely severed!

Made in china!!!, most electronics and cars have chinese inputs, the chinese actually know what they are doin and they can come up with cars as good as the mercedes if they want to. What usually happens is that our fellow nigerians go there and assure them that if they manufacture this particular substandard car it is going to be accepted in nigeria, in my opinion, its our businessmen that convince them that if they drop the quality and price they'll hav thousand of sales in nigeria.
I cant agree with you more!!! The same happens with all other items manufactured in China. My top of the line multifunctional fax/scan/copier/printer is made in china!! And the same applies to my Generator (which is pretty expensive compared to other brands from China; 140K for 3kVA)

Like I said, you get what you pay for.

@ ivvie
You still talk about all cars and I am pretty sure you have never even been to China. So how can you so confidently say "all chinese cars". You made a lot of comments but you failed to answer the issues I raised. I can confidently say that you dont even know 10% of the vehicles manufactured in China, neither do you know the Chinese regulations governing car manufacture or even by what standards they are produced. You are an educated guy, so think about what you are saying na huh huh
