Navy captain for the Navy, Colonel for the army and Group Captain for the airforce.

Others below this rank have their respective authorities oo. Don't see a Commander, Lt Col and Lt Cmdr. (NN, NA & NAF respectively) tomorrow and tell him he's not a senior officer ooooo

To the non-commisioned officers is she not a senior officer

Chief! Na wa oo. Officer is officer, senior officer is senior officer. Being an officer does not have any bearing with non-commissioned officers. Commissioned officers' cadre and non-commissioned officers' cadre are totally different in the entirety.

To a civilian and an NCO, she's NOT a senior officer. You are confusing authority with 'senior officer' status.

check d navy ranking and insignia, den u will know if she is a senior officer or not

Oga, I don't need to check any insignia to know that a Lieutenant in the navy is NOT a senior officer. It's like saying a Captain in the army is a senior officer. Now, where does the senior officers' rank start?

Or 1000 push ups, 500 frog jumps and python dance version 2 in potopoto or one of these Lagos gutters.

It all depends on your relationship with them. If you are very familiar with the officer, like you guys where friends before his commission, just call him by that first name or even nickname. Others, by rank and the more senior ones, SIR!

The relationship matters. I call the Captain friend I have by that funny nickname I call him while we were serving. Simple guys.

It's not as literal as you are classifying it man. Yea, we lay men call all of them soldiers, but they ain't. My army officer friend corrected me when I referred to him as a soldier. He went further to calmly explain. Since then, I understood better and addressed them accordingly.

Foreign Affairs / Re: U.S Navy Returns To Compass & Pencil For Navigation To Avoid Collision At Sea by frank043(m): 4:00pm On Sep 30, 2017
Explorers:
At least four major accidents have occurred in the western Pacific this year.

The U.S. Navy has gone back to using compasses and pencils when it comes to navigating the high seas.

New orders were issued earlier this month after a number of deadly accidents this year.

A lack of sleep coupled with a 100-hour working week for many sailors means they're fatigued and placing far too much reliance on automated navigation systems which has led to careless and costly errors in which lives have been lost.

I fear Russia may be in the know of all these collisions. Those guys can hack the unhackable! If they can hack and alter US election results, anything is possible with them. I'm just saying.

I didn't insult him but judged him based on what he wrote. Men are not polygamous in nature, you're only polygamous cos you wish to be. There's no excuse for cheating be it from the male or female. If your religion supports more than one wife, no problem but if not stick to the one you promised to protect and love and cherish blah blah blah. Quietly go through some family sections thread, read the comments and you will buy brain for some.

Please I don't do pm, is boldly written on my personal profile.

It's OK if you say you didn't insult anyone.

By the way, the pm was an error, meant to click the follow button, should I miss the tread in pointing out the fact that you need not insult anyone and everyone just to make a point.

Please, don't reply. Let it end here. Thanks a bunch!

Extracurricular activities ni, borrowed activities ko. When someone cares for you and the children then what's he looking for outside that's not inside. What happened to till death do us apart, the promises e.t.c. Ehh Uncle Max24 the caring, potential/future cheat and polygamist.

Op's case is diff, the mom is late already, but the man I quoted is jejely waiting for the wife to die so he'll make his own official.

Please I beg you don't mention me again since common sense is far from you. Thanks

Honestly, you really don't need to insult anyone to make a point.

Thanks but I have 4years in Banking industry,4 years in Retail stores but I studied Banking and Finance. Please advice.

Yes, I read it. Nominate an occupation in the same industry or a related industry. Tailor your job description to match the description of the course you intend to nominate. Nominating an occupation in transport is totally different to banking and your experience. Go through the occupations carefully, select a few and go through their respective descriptions meticulously.

Good morning all,I don't think my day is never complete without reading this thread everyday.I just need words of encouragement and guidance from good people of this forum.Am about rewriting IELTS again as my first score wasn't good enough after which assessment will be done with Vettasses.I want to be assessed as Transport company manager sponsored by Tasmania. But I actually studied Banking and Finance HND currently working as Logistics manager in a Retail store and has 8 years of working experience,4 was in Bank and remaining 4 till date in Retail store.35 years of age. Please am I good to go and please remember me in your prayers so that I can share my success story here too.Thank you.

You don't need IELTS for VETASSESS assessment. I will advise you nominate another occupation closely related to your qualification and relevant experience.

At the request of Bellong.

To the glory of God I finally got my PR after a long wait of 19 months. My timeline below:

Applied: Feb 2016
Submitted payslip and reference letter as proof of employment.
Medicals passed:march 2016
PCC: Feb 2016
Heard nothing and kept calling DIBP & sending mails, was told they are processing it.
March 2017: Natural Justice
That they called my employer several he did not pick up, they did online search for the company and there was no web presence or anything to show about the company hence they doubt my employment is genuine + one of the telephone lines listed does not exist.

april 2017: responded to natural justice including tax clearance and firs receipts of the company for several years, CAC registration, letter from employer to DIBP, more payslips, Recent bank statement showing salary and my personal statement.

Waited and called several times but same story they give, finally gave up about 3 months ago.

Sept 10th: GRANT
IED: December 5th 2017

Never give up or stop trusting God, he always comes through.

Congrats man! You are a very patient man, and that's a very good quality.

Please, how did they get the number of your employer? Was the number listed in the reference letter you provided?

Thanks man.

My people.

I want to thank you all for this forum. I have learnt a lot from reading comments and experiences here on nairaland.com, expatforum and some whatsapp groups (mainly Indian groups).

The process was tough but ultimately sweet grin

At first, I had problems getting my transcripts. Wasted about 4 months on this.

Then I had to battle PTE. I did that 4 or was it 5 times now...anyways I never made the 20pts score.

Then I evaluated with ACS. That took about 3 months only to have my experience cut down by 4 years. With all these I was left with 55 pts to apply as a Network Engineer.

Well a friend later advised that I go with Engineering Australia(EA), for this I had to sit for IELTS, as PTE was not accepted by EA then. EA took another 3-4 months and eventually gave me the desdired Professional Engineer qualification. With this, I applied for the PR in May. There was no response after my aplications for 2 months until I got an Immi Assessment Commence notification Email in July, which essentially means that my application was now being assessed. No additional documents was ever requested by DIBP all through this process.

So this morning I was going through my mail when 3 freshly minted golden mails just started dropping in my inbox one by one. Alas I have been granted my long awaited PR along with my family. I was over the moon when the reality dawned on me.

I must say its been a wonderful experience rolling with this thread. There are amazing people here from Chief Bellong to Jamson, to Bnimz, Mctowel, Mamajaz, Alphadoor, etc etc etc.... Thank you all. Next stop is Melbourne wink who knows maybe Sydney! cheesy

To the ones still in the process. One thing I know for sure is that You will get it. Just research well and follow the process. I wish you the best.

What was the point and IELTS score with which you lodged your application?

but cost of living in Aussie is commensurate to its high wages. inshort, I am tired of being confused, today i want canada, tomoro i want australia. I love the warmer aussie weather and its scenery, but I hear it is impossible to practise as a nigerian educated Engr there except i acquire an australian degree. wouldnt mind going bk to school to pursue a masters degree but australian unis are quite expensive in comparison to canada's.

Australia being far from other countries doesnt matter to me, afterall upon say naija dey surrounded by neighbours, i never cross border since them born me.

so for me, it comes down to how much cash can one save in aussie after bills, cost of education, and i guess tolerance of people of colour.

Chief,

I'm a civil/structural engineer. Your status listed a few software programs you are good at. I'm very good at CSI products... SAP2000, SAFE and ETABS. I also do FEM Design. Mind we relate, on a professional foot?

Your assessment does not limit you to a type of job or title when you get to Oz…………….assessment are for point claiming and visa (period!). You can claim any title and draft your CV the way it best represents your professional exploration when you land Oz - as far as you can defend it. You can even work in an entirely different field if you like.

Thanks Chief!

I will use my HND and assess for skill and qualification, under civil engineering draftsperson. As for work experience, I'd leave it to DIBP. As from January 2018, I will have 8+yrs post HND relevant experience and counting.
