Hello house, please, is/are there any civil/structural engineer(s) that has successfully migrated and settled in Australia, and currently practicing as a structural engineer? I need to connect on a professional level, and ask a few questions. Thanks @chief bellong (et al), do you know anyone? Thanks for all your previous responses, they have been VERY helpful. 2 Likes |

Akachukwu123: Sorry bro, but to be frank with you, IELTS ain't much of a biggie if you know what's required of you. At first attempt (30th Sept.), I had LSRW: 7.5,7.5,8.0,7.0. I didn't have the luxury of time to prepare cos of full time work and weekend paroles. I NEVER practiced reading, speaking and writing. I was just doing listening practice early in the morning (when I feel I had time). I saw LOTS of tips and tricks of IELTS... I did lots of LIZ, EMMA, ADAM, and this British babe like that, awesome guys! Do LOTS of practice, that's what you need. |

oknee: Permit me to ask, must a payslip show tax deductions? The payslips I have from my previous firm does not have or show tax records, cos the firm was not remitting tax and pension, as such, was not deducting from my pay. In contrast, all the payslips I have so far, from my current firm shows tax deductions, pension, etc., cos they remit tax and pension. Personally, I don't think it matters (I may be wrong), but I would want guidance from those that have thorough experience in this. Thanks @bellong @alphadoor @kamotisha et al |

jukeblam: I beg to disagree. Masters by research is FREE. I have three friends running the program there, I have been on this for over a year now. So long as you are offered admission, you won't pay any KOBO. So long as one gets a supervisor (Dr or Prof) willing to supervise. If it's masters by coursework or taught, I will agree that it ain't free to all. 1 Like |

nikkycool: Knowing the occupation you want to nominate and the assessing body is a step in the right direction, i must commend. If you go to anzscosearch.com, sign up and search for this occupation. You will find enough details of this occupation, such as description then also, visit TRA website, still via this same link and check out their requirements. Take your time, there's no need for any rush. |

cle62000: Fair enough... 500k in Warri won't and can't offset the foundation, let alone the building. Let's assume the soils is firm, you won't be needing columns (though you called it pillar, I understand). |
Properties / Re: Please Kindly Advise This Young Lady by frank043(m): 10:10pm On Oct 15, 2017 |
MrRitchie: Nice estimates sir. If the soil were to be waterlogged, what would you have advised? Your estimates are based on the soil being very firm. |
Properties / Re: Please Kindly Advise This Young Lady by frank043(m): 10:06pm On Oct 15, 2017 |
Brasstop: To be frank with you, her 500k may not offset the cost of foundation alone, bearing in mind the nature of the soil in the south south. If the soil were to be OK, then, with bricks she could get something a little bit close to decent. If she goes ahead disregarding the nature of the soil (highly and probably waterlogged), she would start regretting when the water table rises. |

nikkycool: OK. What occupation are you nominating? Check the qualification requirements and the assessing body's requirements and source for the documents required. BSc, HND is about the same method of assessment. Certificates, transcripts etc. 1 Like |

kamotisha: Thank you. There are also people here that left it to the discretion of DIBP and it worked for them too. They also went ahead to advise others to follow suit. Why would someone claim what he can't defend? With no documents to backup such claims, is like digging one's own grave and failing before even starting. We may have our own varied opinion, but I believe this platform is meant for one to get the right and best guide. Most people tend to be confused when confronted with a sea of opinion. Again, no offence. |

kamotisha: Please, how exactly do you mean by 'OVER-CLAIMED POINTS'? For instance I have 9years work experience, and I have ALL the necessary documents required of me by DIBP. Now, I go for assessment and apply for skills and qualification assessment, excluding work experience assessment. How exactly will DIBP penalize me for what you call OVER-CLAIMED work experience? Have you asked yourself why EA made work experience assessment optional? Have you asked yourself why DIBP still carries out verification on work experience claimed, despite the fact that your assessing body assessed you for the 9years you tendered? Which implies that they can still slash whatever the assessing body approved for you. It's at their discretion. They have the power to nullify whatever assessment outcome one uploads. The list of questions goes on and on and on... I'd leave mine to the discretion of DIBP. Thanks... No offence. |
Travel / Re: General Guide To Australian Permanent Resident Visa Through Skilled Migration. by frank043(m): 10:13pm On Oct 13, 2017 |
jamson: You are on point! All these assessing bodies can mess one up with slashing of work experience. I will be going in for EA assessment and wont be doing work experience. It's better to leave experience assessment at DIBP's discretion rather than paying higher and getting a cut on authentic work experience acquired. |

maruzia: Gowon NEVER imprisoned Banjo. It was Ironsi that did, cos of his involvement in the coup. Ojukwu released him and other coup plotters imprisoned by Ironsi. He was lucky to have been imprisoned in the east, else he would have died with the other unfortunate coup plotters imprisoned in the west and north, whom were summarily executed and some (in the North) buried alive, e.g Major Chris Anuforo... 1 Like |

christopherozo: Exactly! The likes of Ben Gbulie, Chris Anuforo, Tim Onwuatuegwu, Ademoyega, Donatus Okafor etc. Victor Banjo halted for three days, refusing to March on to capture Gowon in Lagos. He was given the command of that operation on the agreement that he captures Lagos, and the west secedes alongside Biafra. Instead of following the plans as agreed, he compromised the operation with Lagos, halting for three days to enable the highly fortified Nigerian troops catch up with the exhausted and fatigued Biafran troops. This delay resulted to the destruction of the Biafran forces at Ore! The mistake Banjo made was returning to Biafra, and refusing to explain the million dollar question of 'why he halted?' The man sabotaged Biafra, betrayed Ojukwu, and paid the ultimate price. An officer of his rank ought to know better the consequences of his action. He's NOT a smart man! Nzeogwu and Ifeajuna were smarter. Ifeajuna is a crazy and smart saboteur! He's more of a saboteur than Banjo. Professor is speaking out of sentiments. Sentiments has no room here, Madam. 1 Like |
