helovesme: You didn't really make any point. What does bearing capacity have to do with a column the failed in shear and a steel roof system that lost stability due to MULTIPLE OBVIOUS REASONS? And how does winner's chapel roof system and blockwork cause the collapse? Are you a structural engineer? 1 Like 1 Share |

greenhulk:No columns needed anywhere within the church. Quacks provided the structural drawings and quacks supervised it....what should we expect?...that it will win an award?? |

BornStunner1: What are you saying?...are you a civil engineer?I guess you are not, cos of the terms you used? Steel roof systems are meant for long spans (they only need supports at their extreme ends), ie if it's properly designed by a professional and experienced civil/structural engineer. Steel sections are very efficient in performing that function, that was why timber wasn't used or ain't used for long spans. I know this cos I'm a civil engineer, and I have modeled, analysed and designed more complex steel roof systems, with much longer spans. Now, from the pictures I have seen, the concrete quality is BAD! The columns were under reinforced, the steel roof lost stability due to poor connections between the members and between the trusses and the supporting columns, the diagonals' section sizes and also due to the fact that the columns meant to take horizontal thrust and moment failed in shear as a result of being poorly reinforced (the concrete columns where forced to take tension...concrete doesn't take tension, it.will shear). From the state of the construction site, quacks were in charge doing what to have absolutely no professional idea of. There's no way they would have had some immediate signs of collapse, cos steel fails plastically(ie there are no warming signs), ie if it was even analysed and designed, which I firmly doubt! May the souls of the dead rest in peace. AMEN. 2 Likes 1 Share |

Career / Re: Employer Fired A Staff And Asked Him To Come Back To Resign Should He ? by frank043(m): 7:09am On Jun 06, 2016 |
It's simple... Resignation (be it forced or voluntary) is white, while sack is black. One can come up with positive reason(s) for resigning, but sack is all NEGATIVE. It is easier to get a job with resignation than sack. Prospective employers will want to know why you were sacked (ie if you EVER get an invitation), and if you EVER get employed, their eyes will be on you and they will never stop being skeptical. The firm behaved very professional, they don't want to paint him black or reduce his chances of getting a new job cos they can't afford to pay him. 2 Likes |

Career / Re: To Become A 2nd Lieutenant In Nigerian Army. Benefits by frank043(m): 9:07pm On May 31, 2016 |
MrMystique: No sir, it's in this ascending order... Pilot officer, Flying Officer, flight lieutenant, Squadron Leader, Wing Commander, Group Captain, Air Commodore, Air Vice Marshal, Air Marshal, Air Chief Marshal and Marshal of the Nigerian Airforce. There is no SSC commission in the Airforce, just DSSC, which starts with Flying Officer. If truly you are a 2LT, you MUST be SSC commissioned. An RC can not commit the kinda blunder you are committing. |

Sir, if you are really a 2LT you should know that it's pilot officer and NOT flying officer. Flying officer is equivalent to lieutenant (army) and sub-lieutenant (navy). No offence... MrMystique: |

INDESTRUCTABLEX: First and foremost, as a graduate, you will be granted the rank of Lieutenant, and not Second Lieutenant, ie if you go for the DSSC, otherwise, you will be a second lieutenant commissioned in the combat cadre. You can do whatever business, so longer as it's a legal business and it ain't interfering with your army job. Let's assume you are commissioned as a DSSC officer, in this case a Lieutenant, you will be a troop commander, and as professional, you will have basic job description of Mechanical Engineers. Civil, Mechanical, Electrical Engineers, Doctors, Lawyers Accountants etc commissioned as professionals will practice as professionals, otherwise, they will be pure combatant officers commissioned into the SSC cadre. Feel free if you need any other clarifications... I have similar aspirations, I'm a Civil Engineer. |

Politics / Re: PHOTO: Tamburawa Bridge In Kano About To Collapse by frank043(m): 7:49am On Mar 14, 2016 |
OP, I don't see any bridge about to collapse. What I see is a bridge whose pile caps and piles have been exposed due to a drop in the water level of the stream. If rain starts, what you are seeing will get submerged. |
Career / Re: The Nigerian Army Salary Structure: How Much Is A Nigerian Soldier Paid? by frank043(m): 10:16am On Mar 05, 2016 |
Xtracoool: I'm sorry bro, but you are wrong. Even a warrant officer doesn't wear pip, only a commissioned officer does. Now, a private is a rank, but it's the least rank in the Non-Commissioned Officer cadre, and equally the least in the entire army. When they are on training, they are recruits, immediately they passout, they become privates and ascend in that order. |

Naval, airforce and army officers don't go about on bikes and public transport. It's the NCOs (Non-Commissioned Officers) that go about on bikes and public transport. In this case, the young man is impersonating a NAVAL RATING, not a NAVAL OFFICER |

Hunger, like konji is no respecter of age, sex, social status, race etc... Once it sets, it manifests. I don't think this mumu has experienced the bites of hunger. One thing is that they will still crawl back and eat the food they purportedly rejected. 4 Likes 1 Share |
