Well, most Nigerians are very superstitious.

There's also this story making the rounds about our very own Optimus prime. It was said that a man magically transformed into a keke napep somewhere in Nigeria. I was surprised to see that some people actually believed it.

So people still believe this kinda fairytale?

I thought I'd see either The vanguard or Punch as the source of the news... but elomba.com?

Kings Nehemiah Okoye, a Nigerian marine engineer, has been a seafarer for 25 years. In 2010, while working for the Shell oil company, he was kidnapped by pirates off the coast of Nigeria. Less than two years later he was kidnapped again, this time by Somali pirates. This is his story.

I was first attacked on 1 October 2010. Nigerian pirates killed all 16 of the military personnel who were escorting our vessel, then they boarded our boat, stole all our property and vandalised everything else.
They sailed the ship back to Nigeria and took us into the forest where they held us for four days. They beat us and made us lie down so they could stand on us and march over our bodies. They said they hadn't come to kill us, but to take our oil. After they had siphoned off all the diesel from our ship, they left. I was free.

Less than two years later I was attacked again, this time by Somali pirates.

I was on board a chemical tanker about 150 nautical miles off the coast of Pakistan. It was 28 February 2012. It all happened so suddenly - I was down in the engine room when about 12 of them climbed on board with a ladder. They were shooting everywhere and forced us at gunpoint to sail the ship to Somalia. It took six days. As soon as we got to Somalia, the pirates asked us to contact the owner of the ship to start ransom negotiations.

We were held hostage on the boat for more than a year. The pirates had a special negotiator called Mursal who would come in from Kenya every month or so. I helped negotiate on behalf of the company because the ship owner was Nigerian.

At the beginning, they asked for $25m but the ship owner said he didn't have that kind of money. In the end, I think they settled for about $1.5m. Sometimes Mursal acted as if he was my friend and he often used to ask me if I could get him a job in Nigeria once the ransom was paid and we were freed. "Maybe you can learn how to drive and become a bus driver in Nigeria," I told him. "It's better than carrying guns." At first the pirates kept us on the bridge but they moved us after the death of the engineer - a fellow Nigerian who was a close friend.

The pirates were very, very rough. Sometimes they tied me up like a goat. Sometimes they beat me until I became unconscious. "Let's beat this man because he is a Nigerian," they said. "If we beat him, he will tell the owner of the ship and he will pay the ransom." They did not beat the Indian, Bangladeshi or Pakistani members of the crew. The pirates brought lots of different guns on board and used our boat as an armoury. They made me weld big guns on to the ship and they would fire them at any other boat that approached us.

Americans think otherwise. They consider android phones inferior to iPhones.

TALK TO YOUR PHONE

Siri has personality, but she doesn’t really do much.
Android’s voice “assistant” has no personality – and it
also doesn’t do much of anything. But Android’s voice
assistant types as you talk, works offline and can be
activated hands-free by saying “OK Google.”

SET TO VIBRATE

The iPhone has a physical switch. On Android, you have
to turn on the phone, then hold down the power button.

SEARCH

Search is Google’s bread and butter, but Apple did a
surprisingly good job updating Spotlight search in iOS 8.
Spotlight searches more stuff than Google does: email,
podcasts, notes, reminders, calendar events, texts and
voice memos. But Google lets you choose your default
search engine. With Apple, you’re stuck with Bing.

CONTACTS

Android’s contacts are much easier to navigate, and its
large photos make it easier to find who you’re looking
for. The iPhone automatically connects with Facebook
and other social networks to populate your contacts’
photos. Most Android phones require a separate app, like
Sync.Me, to do that.

GET DIRECTIONS

Google Maps is the best mobile app ever designed. It’s
available on both the iPhone and Android, but it’s only
used natively on Android. That means Siri can’t use
Google Maps – only Apple’s improving but still inferior
Maps app.

CHECK EMAIL

Apple automatically recognizes your Exchange settings
for work email. Android’s mail app isn’t as pretty and
lacks some of the controls that the iPhone gives you.
Though Android lets you quickly swipe to the next
message, it doesn’t thread conversations like the iPhone.

LISTENING TO MUSIC

Android has an excellent music-playing app in Google
Play Music. But Apple has iTunes. Enough said.

GET AND MANAGE NOTIFICATIONS

The iPhone’s active notifications let you respond from
within the notification without opening the app –
something Android lacks. But Android still makes
notifications easier to use because you can swipe to clear
them. Deleting notifications on iOS 8 is a pain in the
neck. And Android’s killer app, Google Now, magically
notifies you when you need to leave for your next
appointment.

USE APPS

Apple and Google both have fantastic app stores. But
Android is far superior at organizing apps, letting you put
important stuff on the home screens and hide less useful
apps in the app drawer. Unlike Android, the iPhone’s
apps look like a mess when they’re placed into folders.
Also, Android’s widgets are much more useful than
Apple’s.

TYPE

Android’s stock keyboard is better than Apple’s,
including its swipe gestures. It also has punctuation on
the same screen as the letters. (Really, Apple, can’t you
do that?) Both now have third-party keyboards if you’re
looking for an option that better suits your needs.

TAKE A PHOTO OR VIDEO

There are awesome Android cameras, and Android
utilizes the full screen for the viewer, but the iPhone’s
camera is definitely the best. Yet managing photos is a
much better – and cheaper – experience on Android. And
Apple’s iCloud is a disaster.

CHECK THE TIME

The iPhone shows you the time when you press the home
or lock button. But Android does time keeping better.
Motorola, Samsung and HTC have smart covers and
sensors that automatically show you the time as soon as
you pull the phone out of your pocket. Android also has a
super-dim “daydream” clock that stays on when charging
on your nightstand.

MAKE A CALL

Favorite contacts are laid out much better in Android —
according to the people you call most frequently. But
FaceTime is the iPhone’s killer feature.

LOGIN

The iPhone’s TouchID fingerprint sensor makes
bypassing the annoying lock screen a breeze. Samsung
has a similar feature. Other Android phones have a face
recognition login option, which is less secure and doesn’t
work in dimly lit settings.

Right now, it does seem like they are intent on making sure this war has just one front. Their numbers are probably less than 10000 active fighters...why would they drag a response from Niger or Chad where it makes no strategic sense?

We can keep making up as many excuses as we can, but that should not distract us from the target at hand ; these bas'tards are scummy terrorists and should be wiped out as soon as possible.

Invading Chase or Niger will unleash the wrath of France. Mali is a case factor.

Hello, maybe I am the only person that have noticed the number of BH being killed from time to time by HUNTERS, and our soldiers have been portrayed as not being able to do that. Please, do these hunters always achieve these successes without casualties or, do they always round-up these BH guys in 40s, 60s, 75s, 80s, etc...

I really would wanna know, so that I could inform the military boys to always round them up first and shoot their sorry asses. Maybe, people will hear that they worked by then...

Nobody can possibly calculate the exact casualties cos the battle doesn't take place at one spot, so they do the normal counting and estimate.

My thoughts tho.

When you view their conversations, you'll see old messages and invites they purposely keep on hold and 99% are from guys, hardly girls.

There was a particular girl I met online ( BBM ) and she always took like forever to reply. After I met her in person a few times and we chatted a bit, the situation changed. She's now the one to initiate the conversations online.
