haibe: get the focal point of her post, Only two pastors can afford a lot not to talk of our leaders and you are talking of no money
I never said anything about Nigeria not having the money to improve medical research. Our leaders will rather embezzle the money.

About your focus on religious bodies not aiding medical advancement, Pastors didn't build the research facilities in the US. Nobody had to sell their private property or drop their religion in the western nations to make breakthroughs in medicine.

Stop singling out pastors!
HealthRe: Ebola Facts!!! by Frankenstein: 7:33pm On Aug 09, 2014
haibe: You don't have facilities because you embezzle them, Nigeria has lots of money. Even the little that is let go are not used well, what about knowledge and experience? why are they medical practitioners without knowledge? you think it's theory we need them for? See this guy oo. Just close your eye in shame for saying this.

The fault is Nigeria and Nigeria alone. don't try to cover anything
Then why did you call Nigerian medical professionals illiterates and heaped the blame on them when you are aware that our lack of medical innovation is due to bad leadership? You are not even coherent.
HealthRe: Ebola Facts!!! by Frankenstein: 7:28pm On Aug 09, 2014
nora544: the new laboratory for the University of marburg which is for searchin for the marburgvirus and his sister ebola was 15 Million USD.

That is when two jetpastors sell their jets and nigerisa could have this.
So pastors are to fund medical research while the leaders keep looting our treasury?

Not too long ago, the naira had more value than the British pound. Maybe you also blame our currency depreciation on religion too.
HealthRe: Ebola Facts!!! by Frankenstein: 7:18pm On Aug 09, 2014
wikiman: We need to really get serious with research in this country and stop focusing on frivolous things as
i got this forwarded to me yesterday VERY THOUGHTFUL

"This was forwarded to me - "This is just the plain truth.....Hehehehehehe! EBOLA strikes "stone age" Africa. The entire continent, comprised largely of backward thinking people, is thrown into confusion. They were praying. Calling on God as usual. God doesn't drop vaccines or cures from heaven. I wonder why they can't get that into their thick skulls. EBOLA hit Africa in the 70s. The Americans took note. They developed a cure and locked it up in a wardrobe somewhere. A thinking society, a practical society, a sensible society. They solved the problem in the lab and not in the church or some other religious houses. They know the solution to problems is not by handing it over to God or casting it on Jesus or someothers. They found a cure and locked it away, for a day it will be needed. We were in church and , praying. So EBOLA hit West Africa and the entire continent became jittery. Hundreds died. America kept quiet. Two Americans got infected. The Americans opened their wardrobe, flew the cure to Africa and saved their citizens. The drug worked within minutes! The two citizens were saved. Not by prayers but by common sense preparation. God doesn't help the praying Africans with vaccines or cures. They die in their hundreds. It's because of their sins. What else will they say?The Americans don't help lazy minded Africans too. They make money with their vaccines, which praying Africans have to buy. Cos they won't spend their time taking the hard route to solve their problems. They will rather gather in special prayer grounds and ask God to intervene. But he does not. Except maybe through the money making Pharma companies in America. Such is the life of those who don't think!"
Mr Atheist, Africans are not as religious as Indians yet Hindus are the majority among the great players in the field of medicine.

We don't have the same military, economy, development and a whole lot of other things with the West. You think that's because we pray a lot? Take your religion-bashing campaign somewhere else.
HealthRe: Ebola Facts!!! by Frankenstein: 7:09pm On Aug 09, 2014
haibe: The only problem I have with Nigeria now is the fact that we invest more on religion than helpful research. Despite having at least a church in almost every street in Lagos, Lagos remains the first to inhabit ebola, despite Nigeria being one of the most religious countries in the world, we are still among the most dangerous, corrupt and soon poorest countries in the world. Where are those medical practitioners that claim they know it all, those useless medical professors that have no job than oppressing students thinking they are intelligent, where are they let them prove what they have got. But No!! They won't stand up and act now but later say they are not inferior to the oyibo man.

I guess we just have too much hypocrites and illiterates in Nigeria.
What do you want the medical experts to do, perform magic? How do you think medical researches are conducted? It takes a lot of money, knowledge and experience to manufacture drugs and discover therapeutic methods for curing diseases.

How many research centers are in Nigeria?

How much is the government funneling into medical and pharmaceutical research?

We're not inferior to any country. We don't just have the facilities, funding and know-how they've got.
HealthThe Girl That Never Grows Old by Frankenstein(op): 11:14am On Aug 09, 2014
It’s the end of another busy week and MaryMargret
Williams is shuttling her brood home from school. She
drives an enormous SUV, but her six children and their
coats and bags and snacks manage to fill every inch. The
three big kids are bouncing in the very back. Sophia, 10,
with a mouth of new braces, is complaining about a boy-
crazy friend. She sits next to Anthony, seven, and Aleena,
five, who are glued to something on their mother’s iPhone.
The three little kids squirm in three car seats across the
middle row. Myah, two, is mining a cherry slushy, and
Luke, one, is pawing a bag of fresh crickets bought for the
family gecko.

Finally there’s Gabrielle, who’s the smallest child, and the
second oldest, at nine years old. She has long, skinny legs
and a long, skinny ponytail, both of which spill out over the
edges of her car seat. While her siblings giggle and squeal,
Gabby’s dusty-blue eyes roll up towards the ceiling. By
the calendar, she’s almost an adolescent. But she has the
buttery skin, tightly clenched fingers and hazy awareness
of a newborn.

Back in 2004, when MaryMargret and her husband, John,
went to the hospital to deliver Gabby, they had no idea
anything was wrong. They knew from an ultrasound that
she would have clubbed feet, but so had their other
daughter, Sophia, who was otherwise healthy. And
because MaryMargret was a week early, they knew Gabby
would be small, but not abnormally so. “So it was such a
shock to us when she was born,” MaryMargret says.
Gabby came out purple and limp. Doctors stabilised her in
the neonatal intensive care unit and then began a battery
of tests. Within days the Williamses knew their new baby
had lost the genetic lottery. Her brain’s frontal lobe was
smooth, lacking the folds and grooves that allow neurons
to pack in tightly. Her optic nerve, which runs between the
eyes and the brain, was atrophied, which would probably
leave her blind. She had two heart defects. Her tiny fists
couldn’t be pried open. She had a cleft palate and an
abnormal swallowing reflex, which meant she had to be fed
through a tube in her nose. “They started trying to prepare
us that she probably wouldn’t come home with us,” John
says. Their family priest came by to baptise her.

Day after day, MaryMargret and John shuttled between
Gabby in the hospital and 13-month-old Sophia at home.
The doctors tested for a few known genetic syndromes, but
they all came back negative. Nobody had a clue what was
in store for her. Her strong Catholic family put their faith in
God. “MaryMargret just kept saying, ‘She’s coming home,
she’s coming home’,” recalls her sister, Jennie Hansen.
And after 40 days, she did.

Gabby cried a lot, loved to be held, and ate every three
hours, just like any other newborn. But of course she
wasn’t. Her arms would stiffen and fly up to her ears, in a
pose that the family nicknamed her “Harley-Davidson”. At
four months old she started having seizures. Most
puzzling and problematic, she still wasn’t growing. John
and MaryMargret took her to specialist after specialist: a
cardiologist, a gastroenterologist, a geneticist, a
neurologist, an ophthalmologist and an orthopaedist. “You
almost get your hopes up a little – ’This is exciting! We’re
going to the gastro doctor, and maybe he’ll have some
answers’,” MaryMargret says. But the experts always said
the same thing: nothing could be done.

While Gabby’s hair and nails grew, her body wasn’t
getting bigger. She was developing in subtle ways, but at
her own pace. MaryMargret vividly remembers a day at
work when she was pushing Gabby’s stroller down a
hallway with skylights in the ceiling. She looked down at
Gabby and was shocked to see her eyes reacting to the
sunlight. “I thought, ‘Well, you’re seeing that light!’”
MaryMargret says. Gabby wasn’t blind, after all.

Despite the hardships, the couple decided they wanted
more children. In 2007 MaryMargret had Anthony, and the
following year she had Aleena. By this time, the Williamses
had stopped trudging to specialists, accepting that Gabby
was never going to be fixed. “At some point we just
decided,” John recalls, “it’s time to make our peace.”

It's caution.
HealthStop Propagating Unnecessary Ebola Fears by Frankenstein(op): 6:39pm On Aug 08, 2014
INFORMATION: US STATE DEPARTMENT EBOLA ALERT

In order to help our Embassy Community better understand some key points about Ebola virus we consulted with our medical specialists at the US State Department and assembled this list below, worded in plain language for easy understanding.

• The suspected reservoirs for Ebola are fruit bats.

• Transmission to humans is thought to originate from infected bats or primates that have become infected by bats. Undercooked infected bat and primate (bush) meat transmits the virus to humans.

• Human to human transmission is only achieved by physical contact with a person who is acutely and gravely ill from Ebola virus or their body fluids.

• Transmission among humans is almost exclusively among caregiver family members or health care workers tending to the very ill.

The virus is easily killed by contact with soap, bleach, sunlight, or drying. A washing machine will kill the virus in clothing saturated with infected body fluids.

A person can incubate the virus without symptoms for 2-21 days, the average being 5-8 days before becoming ill. THEY ARE NOT CONTAGIOUS until they are acutely ill.

• Only when ill does the viral load express itself first in the blood and other bodily fluids (e.g vomit, feaces, urine, breast milk, semen and sweat).

• If you are walking around you are not infectious to others.
• There are documented cases from Kikwit, DRC of an Ebola outbreak in a village that had the custom of children never touching an ill adult. Children living for days in one room huts with parents who died from Ebola did not become infected.

You cant contract Ebola by handling money or swimming in a pool.

•There's no medical reason to stop flights, close borders, restrict travel or close embassies, businesses or schools.

• Always practice good hand washing techniques, you will not contract Ebola if you do not touch a dying person.

Pls share this information and try not to spread panic on social media. Stay safe!

PoliticsRe: ISIS Murdering Christians In Iraq by Frankenstein(op): 10:40pm On Aug 07, 2014
While the war in Gaza has received global recognition and Muslims, Christians and atheists across the planet are condemning the killings there, the violence against Christians in the middle east and almost all the countries with a Muslim majority has gone unnoticed and poorly reported.

The same pro-hamas activists and extremists screaming blue murder and demonizing Israel, beating up Jews in Europe, resigning from political offices and shaking the online media have kept mum about what ISIS is doing to Christians in Iraq. The stench of the hypocrisy and religious bias is overly appalling!
PoliticsISIS Murdering Christians In Iraq by Frankenstein(op): 9:03pm On Aug 07, 2014
Once there were an estimated 30,000 of them. The Christians of Mosul in Iraq are now gone. They know the time had come to depart or to suffer harm. The new rulers, murderous thugs who call themselves the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) told Christians, who had lived in that part of the world since near to the time of Jesus, to leave.
Even the often morally blinded United Nations issued a report noting the facts: ISIS is killing or expelling Christians and other smaller religious sects.

Why? ISIS wants to make their territory Christian-free. ISIS soldiers pull over the cars containing fleeing members of religious sects and do what they are know how to do. They kill them. ISIS zealotry has resulted thus far in the destruction of the tomb believed to contain the remains of
Jonah the prophet and the bombing of places.

The ISIS new twists: make sure the occupants are at work at the time the explosion occurs. Mannequins faces are now covered and it is no false conclusion to believe that the future of women in ISIS-controlled territory will be brutal, demeaning, at the whim of men and often shortened by violence.

Christians are not welcome in much of the Islamic world. Expulsions and persecutions are not new, but certainly under-reported. Murders of churchgoers as they leave house of sanctuaries has been occurring for some time.
What is astounding however, is the silence.
Yes, there are news stories here and there. But there is a general silence. There are no protests, no government resolutions and no sanctions against those who murder others who do not share the same religious beliefs. It is state-sanctioned homicide for the crime of a different belief in the Almighty, and the punishment by the world at large is silence as these crimes are committed.

The West is making a terrible mistake by its silence, its failure to condemn these attacks on religious
freedom and the murder and expulsion of those who choose to believe. Maybe this hardly heard reaction, which seems to have no outrage with it, is another step in Western historical failure to understand that the abolition of religious freedom has often been a factor leading
to the deaths of millions. Maybe the Western world has amnesia when it comes to its own history, and maybe the intellectual stream that has dictated our morality by saying religion is the problem itself has won this skirmish.

However, the victims are losing not only their homes as they often are murdered, tried and convicted by automatic weapon for the crime of belief. The smug reaction of silence is one for which we will pay. Not because there will be a predictable heavenly response. No. That would be all too easy to dismiss. The price will be paid because we are
allowing by our silence demons to run large portions of this planet. It has happened before. Once the beast awakens, his hunger often cannot be extinguished. That is what demons do. They will travel anywhere to feed. That is our problem, not theirs.

Israel too was founded on the basis of creating a "Jewish state". doesn't that automatically mean that their objective is to wipe out the current occupiers as well? or do they have to write it down before you understand? or do u think the Arabs living inside Israel as citizens have the same rights are the Jews there?
The area of land that is now the state of Israel doesn't belong to either Jews or Palestinians. It belongs to the Canaanites that dwelt there before the Israelites expelled them thousands of years ago. Palestinians can't claim ownership of the land because they stole it when the Romans exiled the Jews living there and the Arabs (Palestinians) settled in Jerusalem after Saladin took over the city.

The land now belongs to Israel and Palestinians should recognize the state of Israel, lay down their arms, make peace with Israel and elect a credible non-terrorist government then the blockade in Gaza will be lifted, West bank settlements will be halted and they can have their own country.

Missy89: Nope!

First, Iron dome is mostly financed by the US so why would Israel fall into recession because they are using a defense weapon that is mainly financed by another country? They just got more for free few days ago. In fact why would any country fall into recession because they are using munitions? isn't that ridiculous and funny at the same time? were you trying to crack a joke?

Second, why does every sheepish christian or neutrals using the well crafted "what will Israel do" line? is it because they are ill informed or just too gullible?

The recent conflict didn't start when Hamas fired rockets, it started when 3 teens were killed and Israel blamed Hamas without providing proof the the world (Hamas denied it of course). now some new information coming to light said that the Israeli government knew that the kids were dead earlier but kept it from the public in other to draw public support. Hamas was actually retaliating for the collective punishment handed out in the west bank.

The common denominator here is ignorance . if Islam is what unites the supporters of Hamas, what unites the supporters of Israel ? isn't it the same religion?(pro Israel's core argument is that God gave them the land so whats your point?) or what would make someone say "thou i don't support the killing of civilians BUT"

I can debunk the 5 cease fire myth too if you want me to as well.

some Zombies didn't even read the terms in those cease fires.

Hamas and Netanyahu needs to be stopped! but blaming one side is just short sighted
You're not making any sense. Hamas has been firing rockets into Israel, bombing buses, kidnapping and killing Israelis since they took over power. I even applaud Israel for their restraint from using excessive force to wipe Hamas out. Have you read the Hamas charter? Their major aim is to wipe out every Jew in Israel and reclaim their stolen lands (Insha allah). Lands that don't belong to them.

Palestinians are Jordanians. Israel has been illegally encroaching on the West bank and I condemn them for that but Hamas is a terrorist organization bent on killing Jews. The same Jews that supply them water, electricity and various aids. So tell me, what do you want Israelis to do? Vanish and leave the country for Hamas?
Foreign AffairsRe: 7 Things To Consider Before Choosing Sides In The Middle East Conflict. by Frankenstein: 5:03pm On Aug 02, 2014
What's the common denominator here... for the people that can't see the sense in this article? It will always be and still remain ISLAM! That's the only thing that unites the supporters of Hamas.

I don't support the bombardment of civilian sites and facilities but Hamas left Israel no choice by constantly sending rockets into Israel.

5 good times, Israel agreed to a ceasefire to allow humanitarian aid but guess how Hamas replied— more rockets into Israel!

What is so hard for the anti-semitic Moslems to understand? They want Israel to sit back and do nothing while hundreds of rockets are launched against them?

FYI, the iron dome costs billions of dollars to manage and Israel will be dragged into recession if they let it sort out the conflict.
