freeze001: Senatordave1, this is also another issue. If INEC and other concerned parties are able to show that there was sufficient time within which parties/candidates were to inspect sample ballot materials before commencement of elections and the MRPD did not take advantage of the time to formally point out errors/anomalies to the INEC, they will be deemed to have slept on their rights and as you know, equity will not aid the indolent. All in all, we'll see how it goes. Are you a lawyer? You talk quite reasonably.. And you seem to be politically vibrant. So much more than we ordinarily ask of a lady. |

Politics › Re: Suspension: Crisis Brews As APC Governors Set To Sack Okorocha by FrankFrenzy(m): 7:27pm On Mar 19, 2019 |

There appears to be another round of crisis in the All Progressives Congress (APC) as governors elected on the platform of the party are said to be divided over plans to remove the Imo State governor, Rochas Okorocha, as chairman of their forum.
According to Daily Independent findings, the APC governors, under the aegis of Progressives Governors Forum (PGF), have not been meeting as they ought to and take positions on critical issues since the controversial primaries of the party.
Sources said the situation has been further worsened by the suspension of Okorocha by the National Working Committee (NWC) earlier this month for alleged anti-party activities.
Though Okorocha, whose tenure as Imo State governor will elapse by May 29, is expected to hand over his position as chairman of Progressives Governors Forum to another serving governor, Daily Independent gathered that there is an underground plot to oust him by elements who believe it is morally wrong for Okorocha to preside over the forum while he is currently under suspension by the party’s NWC.
It was gathered that Governor Kayode Fayemi of Ekiti State is being considered as his likely replacement.
Fayemi was first sworn in, in 2010. He sought re-election in 2014 but lost to Ayodele Fayose of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). He, however, won the last governorship election in Ekiti.
According to our source, who is one of the loyalists of the governor in the NWC, the plot to remove Okorocha is a calculated attempt by some forces to further humiliate him after suspending him from the party and later denying him his certificate of return for the senatorial election he won.
The source said: “Yes, there are attempts to remove him as chairman of the APC Governors’ Forum. Those behind the plot are claiming that it is unlawful for him to preside over anything that has to do with the APC, having been suspended from the party.
“We have made it clear to them that suspension is different from expulsion. Until he is expelled from the party, the governor remains a bona fide member of the party.
“Besides, the governor has even rejected his suspension, saying the national chairman lacks the power to suspend him as a foundation member of APC.
“They are just trying all they could do to rubbish him before his tenure expires in May. First, they dabbled into the governorship primary of APC in Imo and denied his favoured candidate, Uche Nwosu, the ticket. The party paid dearly for it as PDP reaped from the crisis.
“Later, they claimed he has been suspended from the party. Not done, they connived with INEC to deny him his certificate of return as the duly elected senator for Imo West.
“Now, they are plotting to remove him as chairman of APC Governors’ Forum when he has just less than two months to handover.”
When contacted, Chief Press Secretary to Governor Okorocha, Sam Onwuemeodo, said he was not aware of any plot to remove his principal as the chairman of the APC Governors’ Forum.
He added that the purported suspension of Okorocha by the NWC had not affected his position as he was relating well with his colleagues on a daily basis.
“I have not heard about it. This is my first time of hearing about it. He is presently the chairman of the APC Governors’ Forum and until anything to the contrary happens, he has no problem with the APC governors.
“He has been working well with them and they are on the same page on issues,” he said. https://www.independent.ng/crisis-brews-as-apc-govs-set-to-sack-okorocha/ Everything about Rochas and this his 8yrs of 'IBERIBERISM' is fake. Everything single project he executed was substandard and inferior. Who else observed that even the coat of arms seal on his governorship seat (stool) is seriously peeling off already |

mistyebby: But are you aware that no man from Mbaise has ruled the state? As vast and populated as it is.How old is the state?
This is Far from the ethnic talk I promise. Just allow me celebrate my own. He is making history as far as we are concern. How big and vast is Mbaise? What's our average population? Just 3 LGAS Is it bigger and perhaps more populated than the old Ama2igbo nation that's comprised of 4 Local governments areas of Isu, Nwangele, Nkwere and Amaigbo and yet they are yet to produce even a deputy Governor in the state. What about the Oru bloc that has Oru East and west, Oguta and some part of Ohaji/Egbema LGAS, have they ever produced a governor? No. But they all bask in the euphoria of Orlu as a zone having produced governors at one time or the other. The problem with Mbaise is that we have failed to align ourselves with Owerri as zone forgetting that we are Owerri first (that's the senatorial zone) before being Mbaise (our local governments and towns) and this should inform our thoughts and decisions at all times. This also is what gave kept Orlu as a people and a zone going because an average Orlu man (irrespective of any of the 12 LGAS he came from) sees himself as an Orlu man first before now seeing himself as Oru or Oru, Ideato or Nwangele, Njaba or Ohaji, Oguta or Amaigbo. |

mistyebby: Finally an Mbaise man governs Imo state! Just too early to get engulfed with that ethnicism. We all know that it was a collective effort of all Well meaning Imolites - Orlu, Owerri and Okigwe to unseat this menace that has befallen Imo state in the person of Okorocha, just like we all did in 2011.If it was to be a battle of tribes or geographical inclination, we all know where the pendulum would have swung to. Imo is One. Say Yes to good governance and NO to 'Familiotocracy' |

destinychildolu: Flash your memory back to 2007 when Ikedi Ohakim from an unknown PPA was declared winner in Imo state. Not everyone on nairaland is a poor student of History That same history also has it that Ikedi Ohakim campaigned and contested In the then PDP primaries, lost out Ifeanyichukwu Ararume whom the party never supported. They now substituted him with Engr Charles Ugwu who eventually lost the litigation filed by Ararume in that regards and was subsequently dropped as PDP flag bearer, at this point PDP would not support Sen Ararume whom they've already suspended for anti party activities. They eventually went through the list of their other primary aspirants and fortunately for Ohakim he had at that time bought PPA forms and fully satisfied all the requirements to be fielded as a party flag bearer (PPA this time) the party now adopted him and won election in grand slide with him. There are striking differences with the case at hand now. 1. PDP at that time was the mainstream, most popular and ruling political party in the State and would ordinarily win any election in that state unlike what is that case in Rivers state presently. 2. Ohakim was an aspirant under the party and only cross carpeted after losing out In the race to clinch the ticket. He wasn't an entirely unknown figure like the Engr that is been projected here 3. The adoption of PPA in that election was sealed weeks before the election proper and therefore there was adequate time for campaign, synergy and sensitizaton of the voting populace about the new development unlike the case at hand where the alliance was only birthed on Wednesday (just 24 hours before campaigns were officially shut by INEC). I can go on and on but I believe as a historian you are you can now relate to and sincerely acknowledge that both scenarios aren't same when placed side by side. Shalom |
