Sir, is there a refund policy for GIC
There is a refund in the event that applicant's immigration application was refused by IRCC. The Canadian bank will transfer the money back to the applicant's account.

How do you go about it? Do you transfer from a Nigerian bank?
You should contact CIBC bank (Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce) for details on how to utilise the GIC investment. The bank will provide instructions on how you can create the GIC with them and how to deposit the money from your Nigerian account through a wire transfer.

I know a good number of Nigerian applicants who have used the GIC in their study permit application and were successful with it.

What is GIC
GIC means Guaranteed Investment Certificate. A GIC is a Canadian investment that has a guaranteed rate of return for a fixed period of time. Many banks offer GICs and international students uses the GIC as a means of showing proof of adequate funds for their first year living expenses in the amount of 10,000CAD.

@lekkiboboe, I'm self sponsored and i have paid my 1 year tuition fee, i was adviced by my immigration consultant to do a GIC investment to further show my economic strength. Do you think i should do it? I should transfer my living expenses to a GIC account?

My gurus, kindly advice.
Go ahead and deposit the 10,000CAD into the GIC investment. It will show that you've made adequate financial arrangements for your proposed studies in Canada.

Please guys is it possible to add or remove a document after submitting application to IRCC
It is possible to send additional documents to IRCC to be included with your in-process application. However, there is no room available to remove documents that have been received by IRCC. The immigration officer will make a decision based on the information/documents present on file. Hence its imperative to be truthful as possible in your application so as to avoid costly mistakes.

Good Morning House, I want to know if is possible for an agent in Nigeria to do Canada work visa with Permit for someone and what is the cost and time duration.
Be extremely careful!! A lot of Nigerian applicants have been scammed through the so called immigration program - "Work Permit". I hope you don't fall a victim. As the saying goes "A word is enough for the wise"

Hi Mr.Frank, please I electronicallh signed my application with my full name Oluwateniola because that is what is in all my documents including my birth certificate.
However, my international passport has Teniola not Oluwateniola, would this be an issue?
You should have used the full name as written on your international passport to electronically transmit the documents to IRCC instead of the name on your birth certificate. At this juncture, you've submitted your application and nothing can be done. The error can be rectified when you got for your biometrics.

Good evening guys,

Please I want to know if Ontario graduate certificate programs are still referred to as post graduate diploma.

Secondly, can a 1 year post graduate diploma get visa approval or must it be a 2 years post graduate diploma before the visa officer may consider approving my application?

Thanks please I need answers. Gurus in the house
See my responses below:

- Ontario graduate certificate programs are the same as post graduate diploma.

- You can secure a study permit with a 1-year post graduate diploma program. Several success stories on this platform can verify this statement to be factual.

Hi? Do i need to print out the imm5645 form and sign and scan and upload?
You don't necessarily need to print nor sign any of the immigration forms for a Canadian visa application. Upon successful uploading of documents into their respective columns, you will be prompted to use your full name as written on your international passport to electronically sign and transmit your application to IRCC.

What does your friend do for a living (current employment status)? This will determine the course of study in Canada.

Good afternoon. I got into a university in Canada and I was given a TA and RA Scholarship of 15,177CAD per year. The tuition per year is 22,100CAD. Would a bank statement of 9million naira from my sponsor be okay to process my visa application? The sponsor is my dad and he has two children only.
Given that the TA and RA Scholarship of 15,177CAD per year only covers for your living expenses and incidental expense in Canada. The sponsor (dad) should have at least 12M-13M available balance in his bank account.

A friend applied for a visa and he's to resume this may.. I think deadline for resumption has passed and the school didn't defer his admission. He applied for admission elsewhere and has gotten admission
Please what can he do? How can he notify the visa officer of the change of school
He hasn't gotten visa yet
The applicant should fill an updated study permit form and provide a new acceptance letter/confirmation of enrollment from the new DLI. He can update his records through the link pasted below IRCC WEBFORM - NAIROBI

However, before doing this, he should make sure that he contacts the previous institution for a deferment.

PLEASE IF MY BANK STATEMENT CERTIFICATE IS UPLOADED, WILL THE VISA OFFICER SEE THE ACCOUNT BALANCE IN REAL TIME? OR THE BALANCE AS AT THE TIME THE TICKET WAS GENERATED?

IF A WITHDRAWAL IS MADE AFTER ONE HAS SUBMITTED THE APPLICATION, WILL THE VISA OFFICER SEE IT?
It's not advisable to cheat on the immigration system of Canada. However, the immigration officer uses the password and ticket ID to verify whether or not the bank statement is genuine and if the closing balance as at when it was generated is accurate with what they have on their system. They don't have access to the available funds after the date the mybank statement certificate was generated.

Hello Bosses

Please is it compulsory I must pay my tuition from the Account I want to submit with my study visa application or someone can pay for me from his account though am self sponsor

Please help your brother
Tuition payment can be made from any account. The immigration authorities are not after the medium in which the payment was carried out, rather they are more interested in verifying the authenticity of the tuition receipt from the proposed DLI in Canada.

Hello everyone,
Please I need your responses on this issue..
I wanted to apply for my study permit before May 15 as directed by IRCC, but I was advised to be patient as I still have an important document that is not yet ready. By God's grace, the document will be available next month, June.
I booked and paid for medicals for May31st... Please what can I do about the medicals since I will not be submitting my visa application in May.
Thank you all.
A medical result is valid for 1 year and as such you can apply for your study permit with a copy of the E-medical slip. Truthfully provide answer to the online questionnaire that you've done medical within the past 12 months. The immigration officer at the Canadian embassy will use the UMEI on your upfront medical sheet to gain access and upload the result on your MyCIC account.

Congratulations to you and your family on your approvals.
A quick question please. My study visa has been approved and I have also received my study permit. But I am back to the country since my next class is in the fall.
I intend to apply for study permit for my kids.
Since I already have mine approved, I tried to fill study permit app form for both kids but the system allows me to fill just one study permit on my account at a time and I have two kids. Please how do I go about this?
Your response will be highly appreciated.

@Frankrobbn1, @Justmellow, @justwise and @Akannitommy
You should provide accurate answers to the online questionnaire that you will be submitting an application for an additional family member
to accompany you to Canada i.e after inputting the details of your first child. With this, a separate folder with details of your children will be automatically generated.

Raise a CSE to Nairobi immigration informing them that you omitted your birth certificate during the submission process of your application. In the mail, you should state that you've done medical upfront and have provide a copy of the E-medical slip for their records.

Hello everyone. I have come to give thanks to God ooo!!!!! He deserves all the praise.

Just got the family ppr and visa (SOWP and 2 Study permit for the kids)

Special Thanks to all those that still keep this thread alive, A big thanks to @Frankrobbn1, @Justmellow, @justwise and @Akannitommy for the advice for my wife’s study visa application and my family’s visa application.

My wife got her study permit approved in November 2020 but she is still studying online here, waiting for the family to get our visa.

Na God ooooo, I want to use this platform take encourage people ooo. Age no be criteria to get study permit or SOWP because I and my wife don old ooo. We are over 40 and this na her third masters ooo.(She had done two Masters before). God can do it for anybody. Thanks.

Here’s my wife’s timeline :

Application: July 22
Biometrics request – July 23
Biometrics done – July 29
Medical Request: July 23
Medicals done – July 31
Medical Passed: August 1
BVL / Passport request: October 21
Passport submission: October 25 (Sent by Post)
Passport posted back: 1st November

Family timeline 1

First Application(SOWP and 2 Study permit for 5 and 10 years old):

Application: November 15
Biometrics request for spouse – November 18
Biometrics done for spouse– November 25
Refusal for family– January 11

Refusal reasons:

1. based on travel history
2. based on my immigration status here
3. based on my family ties in Canada and in my country of residence.

I tried to get the GCMS notes from one of the online agents so as to get a better understanding on why we were refused but as fate would have it the agent sent me a mail that my order was delayed that IRCC sought an extension of 90 days beyond the statutory time limit of 30 days to process the request. This means it will take a total of 120 days.

I have a feeling that my refusal was based on my visa here; because it was to expire in one month on the day I saw the refusal email. So I waited for my office to renew my visa and with faith in God, I reapplied.

Second Application (SOWP and 2 Study permit for 5 and 10 years old):

Timeline for Family 2

Application: March 18
Medical Request for family: April 7
Medicals done for family – April 12
Medical Passed for children: April 12
Medical Passed for spouse: April 26
BVL / Passport request for family: April 29
Passport submission: April 30 (Sent by Post)
Passport posted back: May 11 (Sent by Post)

Special Thanks again to @Frankrobbn1, @Justmellow, @justwise and @Akannitommy and other GURU’s for the advice they give on this platform God go bless una. Thanks.

I have been a silent reader and the information contained here is priceless. My unreserved greetings to the gurus and everyone here for the contributions. Just a quick one. So, I received my visa approval since December. I later applied for my 3 children afterwards and got their visas approved. I won't be studying till Fall 2021 as I just rounded up the second semester.
The problem is I have been married for 12 years and we have never been separated. I am planning to also add my spouse so we can get decision before fall 2021. Is this safe? I won't be able to concentrate if he doesn't come with the family. @Frankrobbn1 and other gurus please advice

HELP NEEDED HERE!!!
Congratulations on the approval of your study permit and that of your dependent children. To answer your question, I can understand how difficult it is for you to leave your beloved spouse (husband) behind. However, this is a sacrifice you've to make in order to ensure that his application is favourably considered by the immigration authorities of Canada. Having said that, It's important you travel to Canada and obtain the relevant documents such as your study permit letter and SIN as well as proof of accommodation in Canada prior to applying for him. If you apply for him to join you while you're still in Nigeria, the immigration might not issue him an exemption authorization letter and the processing of his application might be prolonged.

This is my professional advice for you and your family. I wish you all the best.
