Spotlights: I don't think I should be mentioned here since you started with the idea of abusing another person. Anon123 and I didn't abuse ourselves. He made a point and I felt his point is alright but he shouldn't have added fear mongering to it and I reacted appropriately. Consequently, he noted my point and that was the end. Similarly, I agree with your point concerning patience. It is actually the only option now and even multiple emails may not make a lot of difference apart from creating awareness of an applicant's unique circumstance. However, I am vehemently against creating fear where there is none. I repeat myself here for the sake of clarity: no application will be rejected because of "too many emails". I have seen people who sent two mails per day for weeks and that didn't affect their applications. They were ultimately ignored and didn't get replies. Once you get OPR or PPR, these are the things that can lead to rejection: 1. Detected misrepresentation 2. Fake passport 3. Lack of documentation at POE 4. Failure to answer any relevant question(s) at POE The white man is not a god but he works according to strict rules. If you are on your right and you have not done anything untoward, you have nothing to fear. Every applicant should be patient. Canada is not for the impatient at all. However, do not fear to speak up if you have a unique case that demands attention. Nobody will deny you a visa even if you send a mail to every one in Canada every day. Just make sure you are sending such a mail because it is necessary and not because of anything else. Above all else, be polite in every mail you send. 2 Likes |

Anon123: I don't think any application will be rejected because of "too many emails". As long as it's a polite email requesting for status, there is no harm there. We shouldn't peddle fears. At worst, they'll just stop replying you or tell you to stop sending mails concerning the subject matter. Your point on patience, however, is good. 3 Likes |

nigeriamustfall:Even if so, the UK cannot make the "zoo" fall. We shouldn't underestimate the sovereignty of a nation because of emotions. The UK can only debate and possibly issue threats bothering on economic or trade ties. They can't come in and remove Buhari from power or even do anything beyond that. However, that said, it's good that they are debating this issue. At the very least, it'll be a national embarassment. If sustained, it could lead to serious trade, diplomatic and political tensions. 32 Likes 3 Shares |

Education / Re: Mufutau Waliu: Ogun Poly Lecturer Shot Dead - Picture by fratermathy(m): 8:48am On Nov 19, 2020 |
joe4christ: It doesn't always follow like this. Many students are academically weak and want to be pitied. Some lecturers pride themselves as unwavering when it comes to standards and won't take anything short of high quality. Lecturers like this are generally seen as wicked and if students can't break them, some may want to harm them. It may also be that the lecturer is deliberately wicked and wants students to fail so that he can extort them. We can never truly tell. However, killing him only removes him from the question. A dull student will remain a dull student. You can't expect to put in minimal work and get good grades except the lecturer is corrupt. Even if another lecturer takes his place, a dull student (who, in this case, is also a marauding cultist or assassin) still won't pass. Will he now kill all the lecturers in the department? There is no way the assassination will instill fear into everyone's mind. Many people don't even fear death. On the other hand, a hardworking student who is being victimised won't think of murdering the lecturer. He or she would rather report, leave the school or find other means to resolve the issue. Only a lowlife would descend to assassination and such a lowlife certainly can't have a future. The other assumptions we can make is that the lecturer may be dating the girlfriend of a cultist or trying to date her but that is a farfetched assumption and still not enough to kill someone. We can also assume that the lecturer himself is a cultist, former cultist or has links with cultists. These are all just theories and we can never really know the truth. However, nothing is worth taking a life. Killing won't change anything. 4 Likes |

2cribz: Now that he's dead, will the assassin's problems be solved? Killing a lecturer for whatever reason won't solve anything (if we are to assume that this is an assassination planned by students). 6 Likes 1 Share |

One thing I did notice about these "ghost updates" or "server down-times", whichever one we believe, is that they have been occurring en masse mostly on weeks when DLI lists are updated. This could be a coincidence or maybe they are sorting applications and re-queueing them. |
Travel / Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 17 by fratermathy(m): 8:36am On Nov 16, 2020 |
adeenzo: Well, with the unpredictability of IRCC these days, no one can tell what new methods they've devised. Normally, ghost updates do not prevent the application page from loading. To confirm server downtime, if you allow the application page to continue loading, it'll show you a 502 error page. 1 Like |

SKEPTA: 1 week and some days. Sometimes less. Sometimes up to two weeks. But I haven't seen any instance where it went beyond 2 weeks for TRV. Someone I know sent his passport to Germany (expectedly expensive) and got everything back in 3 days. Any VAC in the world can process it. However, VACs in countries with "lower traffic" to Canada would return your passport in a matter of 3-5 days. |
