They might hold citizenship of other countries and will be protected by International law on Double Taxation from paying in both countries. It's unbelievable that the HR and Finance/Compliance departments of all the 7 UN organisations are not remitting tax of their staff. Totally unbelievable.

INGOs in Nigeria take extra to make sure that all statutory deductions like tax, NHF, pension as well as welfare benefits like health insurance are properly paid. So now imagine a whole UN with the best compliance, finance and HR departments not doing that. Very very unlikely.

There's just more to it. The state government has been increasingly hostile to NGOs recently for reasons best known to them. The federal government needs to get involved before Borno state government will cause problems for Nigeria in securing humanitarian aid going forward.

I work with an INGO and all these deductions are made from my gross salary. UN is different Bro, they do not pay tax anywhere in the world this is how they operate. The very dull and useless state government is insisting they must obey local laws

I agree with you on that, but with FG jobs there are so many advantages when compared to others.
Access to huge loans especially senior staffs, few private firms only with high paying jobs has access when compared to FG jobs.
Access to free health care and your family depending on the FG jobs. you just need your ID you can have access to it for free in some FG JOB or almost free in some.
There are bonuses, like housing bonuses, thrift, for staffs in each year.
Institutions like pengassan and others for the petroleum jobs has a benefit for you that's if you are a member and make staff contributions, they serve as mouth piece to their staffs in terms of increment in salaries and other allowances.
These things you can't get it for free if you're not doing FG job.

These are my benefits as an NGO staff in the private sector. I have housing allowance, education allowance, transport allowance and even hazard allowance. My allowances alone without salary is up to the annual earning of a new professor that earns 416k monthly according to the ASUU chairman. How many FG workers are entitled to this?

He said his elder brother actually paid for him to be posted to Borno state. I was curious and asked why? He replied that the elder brother served in Maiduguri in 2016, got a job with an international NGO worked for 3 years and saved enough to relocate to UK. He said he is planning of doing the same.
