Business / Re: Putting Sanusi's Islamic Banking In Perspective by freepeople: 7:33pm On Jun 30, 2011
These discussion is intellectually stimulating. It is getting more interesting. Thanks to Kat cool. In my humble opinion, I feel that Islamic bank in Nigeria will create more problem than it can solve. Operating a "no interest banking system" in Nigeria will not work! Who's gonna take the bad debt of the bank? Taxpayers? shocked. Granting an advantage to a borrower based on religion is a flashpoint for future conflict. What if the government refuses to rescue the bank in the event of insolvency; don't you think that muslim radicals will blame the conventional banks for the liquidation of their bank. Thereby targeting banks with violence. This issue has to be debated well before its introduction into multi-religious Nigeria. How can the bank be able to deal with default in payment? Even if there is no default in payment; how can they be able to pay their workers? Don't you think that some borrowers will abuse the system by borrowing money from a no-interest bank and fixing the money in an interest-generating bank using another person's id? Can this be sustained on the long run without asking the taxpayers to come to its rescue. Above all; why should they discriminate borrowers in a multi-religious Nigeria, based on religion or sect? Can any proponent of Islamic banking in Nigeria convince me on these matters arising?

Let nobody tell me that it worked elsewhere; therefore it will work in Nigeria. Nigeria's case is peculiar

@Poster Jamalah, I commend you for this well thought out article. I'm equally impressed that it is coming from a Muslim. This is the most articulate thread that I've read on the topic of Islamic banking in Nigeria. The previous thread on this topic was so muddled and prejudiced in its presentation. My insight into this topic has widened now. When Sanusi was appointed by the late Yar Adua as the governor of CBN; Many Christian leaders accused him of harbouring an Islamic agenda. I hope his actions will not convince we middle-of-the-road Christians that he truly harbours an Islamic agenda for the apex bank. Any issue that borders on religion is a very touchy issue in every country of the world. Sanusi is playing with fire. We will see how this unfolds. If his agenda is to fight prevailing poverty among the Muslims; I bet he will succeed. But if his agenda is bent on islamization of Nigeria; I guarantee him that this is a dead-on-arrival project.@Poster Jamalah, I commend you for this well thought out article. Politics / Re: Igboman Invested In Islamic Banking by freepeople: 1:25am On Jun 28, 2011
@Excellent7, I would be very happy if the bank could lift my fellow citizens out of their economic woes. It doesn't matter whether I benefits or not. I have been advocating for many years that the root cause of ethno-religious conflicts in Nigeria is poverty. So why should I oppose any scheme that will lift my fellow Nigerians out of poverty?
Christians should set up their own bank if they fell aggrieved. Church leaders should stop making those loud garbled noises and concentrate on the real issue of poverty alleviation.
Politics / Re: Igboman Invested In Islamic Banking by freepeople: 10:53pm On Jun 27, 2011
I'm a Christian, but not a Christian bigot. I see nothing wrong with Islamic banking. Infact, it will benefit Nigerians. They operate a low interest rate banking system. They lends money to the northern artisans and the poor. This helps in poverty alleviation among muslims. Through this, illiteracy and extremism would be fought to the ground. The country becomes better off as a result. No plausible reason has been put forward against the establishment of Islamic bank in Nigeria. Our Christian leaders are myopic. Keeps on fleecing their impoverished followers. Getting richer than the oil barons. Living in opulence. Investing their swindled money in private luxury such as private jets, magnificient palaces etc. Sanusi should quickly move ahead and authorize the establishment of Islamic bank. Those Christian swindlers should rot in hell.
By the way, I plan to buy shares in the bank whenever they floats their stock. I hope my Christian brother wont call me a loner.

Business / Re: Enugu To Build Coal-based Power Plant by freepeople: 4:33pm On Jun 18, 2011
Bravo to Gov. Chime for his foresight. I have some questions to ask.
1. When is construction on the project going to take off?
2. How long will the construction phase last?
3. When the project is in operation; should the clean coal technology be used?
4. Will the electricity tariff be reduced as compared to the present tariff?
5. Will the coal generated power be channelled to the national grid?

Suicide bombing in Nigeria. Oh no we are doomed! We've come to the end of the road. Suicide bombing does not bother me. But what worries me is this; Nigerians hardly let go of any habit they learns. So I'm afraid that this is the beginning of much bigger things to come. God save us.

Surely, this is a giant leap. Except that it is a giant leap at the wrong side(deception and propaganda). A country that can't boast of 4hrs/day power supply. A country that imports every thing including toothpick. This news is simply unbelievable. It's like running before crawling. The buses that ply Enugu metropolis are Chinese-made and Nigerian-assembled by Innoson(Nnewi based businessman).

I grieve with the family of the young man who lost his life. Nigeria is an inhomogenous society. It will be difficult to replicate the Tunisians or Egyptians style of revolution here. His action still bears some significance. It will serve as a warning shot to the politicians that masses are getting desperate. If they fails to get their acts together. The country may descend into anarchy.
Health / Re: The Doctor Said She Should Get Married On Time by freepeople: 8:48pm On Jun 10, 2011
I was thought that some anatomical malformations can predispose an individual to recurrent urinary tract infections(UTI). What my lecturers failed to teach me is that frequent sexual intercourse reduces the chances of UTI(in fact, it actually enhances it). I'm at lost here. No doctor who's worth his onion will give you such an advice. You have to do more to convince me that you are not making up stories. The logic seems absurd, medically. You guys should not attribute the cock and bull stories of yours to people in the noble profession. Be aware that learned people visits NL. Therefore do not turn this elite forum into an avenue to spew out bullshits or misinform people.

You did well!
I suggest that you don"t answer questions in the class except when you are directly asked to answer the question.
I used to have the same problem as you do. Even if you fail JAMB, don't give up or be demoralized. I failed JAMB four times
before I crossed the cut off mark to study medicine and surgery in my fifth attempt.
I will also advise you to identify your very brilliant teacher's and ask them question after the lecture. Except they permit you to
ask them in the class. It can be embarrassing to a teacher to be messed up in front of the O'level students. Your ego will be bruised.
Mind you that you might be more brilliant than your teachers. Displaying of your brilliance can be interpreted as arrogance by your
teachers and your fellow students. Stay low in the class. Let your score speak for you.
Make friends with equally intelligent students. Review your core JAMB subjects with them. Don't run away
if you encounter difficult problems. Solve all of them! with your friends. I can assure you that you can never fail JAMB.
Pondering on what your teacher said can be counterproductive. Don't programme your mind to fail. If you are psychologically defeated. I bet tjhat you are 90% defeated. Study hard & smart and believe in affirmation that you will get a very high score.
Let what your teacher and detractors said motivate you to pass.
It is well my good friends. Come back here to tell us how it went after the exam. God be with you and you will pass.
Congrats in advance,

Career / Re: How Much Do Nurses Earn In Nigeria? by freepeople: 11:22am On May 15, 2011
revlution:

Thank you for that question.
Firstly which nursing qualification do you have , is it HND nursing, Bsc Nursing, auxillary nursing (nurse Eliza)
Secondly, do where do u want to work, company hospital, private hospital, FG hospital, chemist.

HND nursing+private hospital average pay/month-10k
HND nursing+FG hospital-13k
Bsc nursing+FG hospital-25k
Bsc nursing+private hosp-15k
Bsc nursing+company hospital-50k(depending)
HND+Company hosp- 35k
nurse eliza+chemist- self employed
All are subject to years of experience and promotion which could improve pay.
But if u are out side Naija pay rates are much higher with better recpect.
In uk minimun pay is 12-15 pounds per hr.
In the US mnimum pay is 20-25 dollars per hour

That man Peter Obi is a cancer that is slowly eating away the vitality of the great Anambrarians. He needs to be surgically removed from the scene. It's a shame that the state that is noted for producing high-flying personality is ruled by a mediocre called Peter Obi. God save us from these gangsters known as Agulu People's Grand Alliance(APGA)
