I'm really worried about the impact of this revelation on the vaccination effort worldwide. Pakistan has the highest rate of polio cases in the world. Using vaccination as a ruse to locate Bin Ladin does not help in the worldwide effort to eradicate polio. We will see how Pakistani mullahs respond to this. I pray that the health workers are not targeted. |

ola olabiy: A simple question was directed at you in different forms. The question is 'give us an example of any central bank that engages in commercial venture'. You could not come up with any satisfactory response. In case you did not go through the link you posted; read the reply by Sharp man. Your pattern of arguement is to selectively pick some points to respond to; then ignore the rest. Your rigmaroling is quite irritating. I think your are getting more respect than you actually deserve. I can't believe you can be so dumb. By the way, are you trying to intimidate us to silence by referring to us as 'baby-katz'? I'm dumbfounded by the fact that you can't differentiate between 'revenues' and 'income'. You also baffled me by posting a link to Oxford dictionary to back up your arguement in an intellectual discussion. Folks, It's better we ignore Mr Ola Olabiy. My preliminary assessment of him shows that economics and finance is above his league. Some of his response are laughable. His lacks of in-depth knowledge on the topic of note explains his heavy reliance on google search engine to answer questions posed to him. His level of knowledge in this field is quite limited and unimpressive; he's only making it up with an adept use of English grammar. |

Iragbijile has been doing everything possible to irk Katsumoto. I commend the even-tempered nature of Katsumoto. I also congratulate Katz for not descending so low; even though his emotion might be instructing him otherwise. Someone signature goes like this, "Idiots drag u down to their level and beat you silly with their yrs of experience". Using insultive language during debate shows that you have no point to make. It also says something about your upbringing and your level of education. I'm still waiting for Ola OlabiY to to post a link of an apex bank that engages in competitive venture or retail commerce. I chuckled at a link posted by Ola OlabiY on the definition of revenue. That's too simplified. Please look up for the economists definition of revenue. Can Oxford dictionary definition of 'health' and Medical dictionary definition of 'health' be the same? The debate so far has been healthy and I commend everyone involved. The myth of Sanusi's brilliancy has been busted. Nigerians deserves to know their CBN governor better. We should know that there is a cost to pay whenever a charlatan is saddled with any sensitive post in the land. This debate needs to be propagated further to reach a wider audience; since it's only a tiny fraction of Nigerians that have access to internet. I'm looking forward to read article on this topic in one of our national daily. I enjoin Katsumoto to bring up the remaining sub-topics on this debate in his file. |

kbdrim: Some of you Sanusi supporters are very arrogant and prodigious braggarts, just like your master. The other guy bragged of having 1st class. Now you are bragging of being a scientist. Do we really care to know who you are? You will be ashamed of your accomplishment if we publicize ours individually. Let me tell you, we are in information age. Change is brought about by the power of information. You will be making a mistake by trying to suppress it. Don't you ever imagine that we are jobless. We are questioning the credentials and policies of your hero; and you are trying to stifle the debate or move it to another location where we will not have access to the debate. I urge Katsumoto and other intellectuals here to please ignore these rabble-rousers and move on with the debate. You can't occupy such a sensitive post as CBN governor and expect the spotlight to be away from you. kbdrim: Some of you Sanusi supporters are very arrogant and prodigious braggarts, just like your master. nagoma: Are you denigrating NL? NL is an elite forum. I hardly get these large pool of intellectuals anywhere else. I rate discussions here higher than any junk written in newspapers and magazines. I hardly read newspapers and magazines; they are IQ-depressing. Can you and your friends be kind enough to give us link to other scholars forum? I can see your ploy here. You want Katsumoto to blow his cover so that he will be a target for bribery or liquidation. How can somebody in his rational mind say that message is interwoven with messenger? So you bought the Arab school of thought, which says that it is better to cut the neck than to cut the message. If the plan of you and your friends is to identify and target Kat; I can assure you that you have failed woefully. Go back to your over-hyped mediocre paymaster and fashion out a new strategy. Your present tactics is old and tired. |

azoo: My pal, I don't wanna go down that path. Can't you post a reply without using abusive language. I doubt the quality of your 1st class. I expect a 1st class graduate to show some level of decorum. Pre-emptively flaunting your qualification in public forum is 'bragging'. Do u wanna intimidate us with your CV? I can predict the stuff you are made of by mere reading of your post. Your arguements are not articulate and you readily launch into personal attack. Thank God for NL; some brash individuals like u will be educated on the subject of human relation and the value of superior arguement without being abrasive. Well, I don't wanna derail the topic; therefore your continued tantrum will likely be ignored by me. But, please re-examine your approach to human relation. We are discussing about someone whose decision can have a wide reaching economic, social and political ramification. Someone whose educational and professional qualification to occupy the post that he is occupying is in doubt. Someone who is masquerading as a know-it-all economist just because of his meagre qualification and good command of English language. being someone that has read more than 3 dozens of Sanusi's articles written over a period of 10 years https://www.nairaland.com/nigeria/topic-700308.0.html This is a quote from Jarus. I must confess that I'm disappointed with NL that deemed a person in the character of Jarus worthy of being their moderator. Mr Jarus is more a political hack than a moderator. I challenge Jarus to post links to those articles written by Sanusi. |

Politics / Re: "Former Nigerian Ambassador To Kenya Chijioke Wigwe's Shocking Story!" by freepeople: 12:02am On Jul 11, 2011 |
Going through the above press release. I can easily make out that Amb. Wigwe is a pathological liar and a chronic womanizer Background:The girl I married was famous for her temper and fighting ability. With my gentle and unassuming nature, Gentleman Wigwe One night in July 1988, I took my female colleague from another embassy out for dinner. It was actually the first outing. After dinner, I took her in my car in order to drop her off at a train station. womanizer per excelence As we drove through town, hmm When I left England in February 1992, I left my family behind. In 1993 I was posted to Warsaw, Poland but my family remained in London for the sake of the children and Mrs. Wigwe’s education. Having learnt a bitter lesson from Tokyo, I unilaterally decided that Mrs. Wigwe must not live with me at post in Warsaw. Instead, I encouraged her quest for higher education since she had only secondary education when I married her. Really? in July 2002, I discovered that Mrs. Wigwe had brought her male lover, a Nigerian of Yoruba tribe, to live with her and the children in the family house. The children told me how they had bitterly resented her and her lover. But she ignored the children and co-habited with her boyfriend in the family house for close to a year. To all intents and purposes, we were still husband and wife; we were not even officially separated! Why wont he bring in onye ofe mmanu to sleep with her when you failed to do your job as a husband. Come on, your wife is sex-starved, while you are busy potting other ladies I hastily remarried in December 2002. I married my colleague in the service whom I had not actually known for more than six months. By mutual consent in December 2006, we decided to separate amicably and to remain friends, which we are to date. As the marriage had no children, it was quite easy for us to part. I remained a bachelor. I've been vindicated that you are a womanizer all along Following my nomination as ambassador in September 2007, I called Mrs. Wigwe on phone to offer her an olive branch and to ask her to join me, if she so wished, to associate with my new appointment. You wan pot more? She insisted that I should take over her monthly expenditure in London, including an ongoing mortgage for the family house I had myself helped her to buy in 2004 after she was on the verge of losing it due to lack of funds to meet her housing loan requirements. I did this in spite of not being married to her. I did it for the sake of the children. Are you telling us that you placed an economic embargo on your wife all along. Ambassador, you are heartless Thus, we have been living in separate bedrooms connected by an inner door that is firmly and permanently locked from her side of the border. We decided to live with as minimal contact with each other as we could manage. Because she often refused to open her door, we developed the art of communication by notes pushed under the door. Why will she open door for you? Mrs. Wigwe is in a desperate state financially. This is the motive for the onslaught against me in a desperate attempt to tarnish my image and reputation and to get monetary compensation that will restore her big loss and sustain her for a long time. Embargo continues, In response to these allegations, I wish to state quite categorically that I did not beat my wife Really, you are a liar, and that I did not ask for food either in writing or verbally. What happened that fateful Wednesday night was shocking to me and clearly fits into a pre-planned mould cast by the avid Crime TV watcher. Alright, you decided to have maximal contact with her, This is much that I can take. Business / Re: Putting Sanusi's Islamic Banking In Perspective by freepeople: 1:45am On Jul 04, 2011 |
I salute my fellow Nigerians who are muslims. I'm a Christian; and I'm never against the establishment of an Islamic Bank in Nigeria. But we got some legitimate concern that needs to be addressed. I've asked these questions before expecting Jarus to answer them. But it seems like my questions achieved the opposite by driving Jarus out of the discussion. Katsumoto has been repeating the same question, but no one seems to address those issues. The questions are: 1. Who's gonna take the bad debt of the bank? Taxpayers? . 2. Don't you think that granting an advantage to a borrower based on religion is a flashpoint for future conflict? 3. What if the government refuses to rescue the bank in the event of insolvency; don't you think that muslim radicals will blame the conventional banks for the demise of their bank? 4. How can the bank be able to deal with default in payment? 5. Even if there is no default in payment; how can they be able to pay their workers? 6. Don't you think that some borrowers will abuse the system by borrowing money from a no-interest bank and fixing the money in an interest-generating bank using another person's id? 7. Can this be sustained on the long run without asking the taxpayers to come to its rescue? 8. Should banks discriminate borrowers in a multi-religious Nigeria, based on religion or sect? My fellow Nigerians. Please stop beating around the bush. Stop the habit of ignoring the message and attacking the messenger. Address these issues. You can even decide to throw these questions to to the proponent-in-chief of no-interest Islamic banking in Nigeria(SLS), whenever he comes around to your mosque preaching about its merits. We can't afford to engage in another wasteful spending. |
